Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Come down to Casey, I'll supply the coffee, vanilla slices, binoculars, scripts, and an anti slitheras suit and light saber!

That’s great, I am currently on a cruise, eating myself into oblivion and you offer me vanilla slices.

Btw, I can’t walk to Casey.

Caulfield is an illusion, planted by the board.

An imagination from thirty years ago.

Yeh the same board that was going to make a statement within days,(12 months ago) about immediate works to place the club in the MCG precinct.

After the AGM and the sing song it will disappear into the MFC never happened basket.

The MRC run Sandown, Mornington and Caulfield, and are totally skint, up to their necks in debt.

No works will begin at Caulfield until Sandown  is sold, the lodgement and approval or otherwise for planning permit should , take five years minimum.

It appears to me many loud people pushing the Caulfield dream are associates of the board, it’s all unravelling.

After all these years, not one step forward.

Should the club look for a site within 1km of your house?

After all, your pulitzer worthy training reports are what we all want!

NO! Casey is not the answer and once the AFL GET WISE and launch an aligned AFL reserves with only AFL teams playing, the VFL will be irrelevant and redundant! I still say a Port Melb or Fishermans bend location is better an a more central location than a bloody racetrack!

Serious question. Given the labour skills shortage, property developers and builders filing for bankruptcy left, right and centre and a state government that is financially committed to digging tunnels all over the city and suburbs. Even the airport rail has been suspended .Exactly what year do you envisage these 80 000 people moving in to Fisherman’s Bend????? Fisherman’s Bend would be so far down the pecking order of priorities it’s not funny. Caulfield is feasible, doable and could happen reasonably quickly as it’s in the scheme of things not a massive project in comparison to constructing a suburb as is your angle.
I genuinely couldn’t care less where the project is location wise. I just want my club to have its own elite training facility as soon as possible.

good question. FB has had support of both parties in the state. The concept of housing development is being given priority by the current Federal govt with enhanced view of skill shortage and migration. the cross bench and Green have also been supportive of these issues. The dontton party is just opposed to anything labor suggests and may be a bit irrelevant  but has a strong ideological inclination for private investment and development. If the proposal was to include a nuclear power source they would build it as a priority.

Caulfield is in the hands of the racing industry which is not travelling all that well and is subject to the same government difficulties you refer to. Would be great if it could happen quickly as you say, but the club initiating a feasibility study seems to be a bit less certain than you.

Central to what...and whom ?

The whole FB area is a developers sink hole.  Any greenfield design will of course need to incorporate public amenity and by such 'some' communal recreational facilities.  But it will be minimalist as that's real estate....read $$$ .You're  not going to get as much in this locale that you can preside over. FB and indeed PM do have proximity to 'town' but the last i heard ...'town' is on the nose with sqM vacancy very high .

Again,  I have to suggest a Football Club Training Centre and Admin Facility is nothing about you or me and ONLY  about what it does for the club, not the supporters.

Access to FB/PM is relatively limited. A development at Caulfield does not take away amenity from anyone, it creates it. Your suggestions at FB and PM either  restrict public amenity or take from it.

Im pretty confident if you were to ask the club..i.e the staff and players which they would prefer as a WORKPLACE ....  Caulfield would win by its own home straight.

A year for feasibility? sheesh.

Which part are you querying, where I live, that so many Caulfield homes sported our colours for the 21 GF, or that you are in the minority on your view on the Caulfield Racecourse, as our future training base.

If it’s the last point, simply go back and count up the fors and againsts in this thread and it is clear.

Since moving back here I've always worked in the Armadale / Malvern area and there are heaps of parked cars with Dees bumper stickers on them and still a few painted fences. There's even a white station wagon always parked near the intersection of Taronga & Wattletree Rd's that has MFC decals all over it. I think the council put up a big digital screen on High Street Armadale that flashed Go Dees on it during our '21 finals campaign too.

Very central.  Looks promising but only time will tell.

Would be a major step up from the blowy hole out in the sticks at Casey which is 45 minutes travel or more for most Melb metro residents.

Thunderbirds are go!

Just hope i survive to see it if it gets the go ahead.

No doubt some very well to do MFC supporters might reach into their pockets for the umpteenth time for our own facility, given it would be so close to coming to fruition.

Sadly a lot of our current list won’t be around to train in it and will have to put up with substandard facilities of AAMI park.

It's the second stage feasibility study you need to be worried about.

2022 Annual Report

A $3.5m upgrade to Gosch’s Paddock was completed during 2022. The upgrade resulted in an increase in ground size so that it is MCG length and Marvel Stadium width, which is an important step to ensuring the Club has access to the elite training facilities it required. The project was funded in partnership with the Victorian State Government, Melbourne & Olympic Parks Trust and the AFL, with the Club’s contribution of $1m being funded by an AFL grant ($0.5m) and the generosity of our Club 11 members ($0.4m).

The Club continued discussions regarding a long-term Training & Administration Facility, participating in second stage feasibility study with the Victorian State Government on a site within the Melbourne & Olympic Parks precinct. Securing an appropriate outcome is a strategic priority of the Club, however it is a long-term project that can only move at the speed determined by the Victorian State Government given our requirement for land and funding. We thank the Victorian State Government and AFL for their continued support as we pursue a long-term home for the Club.

2023 Annual Report

Club Strategic Plan: 2020 – 2023 In February 2020 the Club launched its four year strategic plan.

Whilst the Club has been unable to achieve its aim of commencing construction on a new Melbourne home base facility during the strategic period, all involved in the Club are working tirelessly to deliver the vision of a world class primary facility that can be enjoyed by players, staff and supporters, and are confident this vision will be realised in the term of the Club’s next Strategic Plan.

We understand the delay is frustrating for players, staff, supporters and your Board, however it is a long-term project and in order to deliver the world class facilities we want we can only move at the speed determined by our key project partners and State Government given our requirement for land and funding. The Club is continuing to work closely with the Victorian State Government on our primary home base, and as advised at last year’s Annual General Meeting this includes opportunities within the Caulfield Racecourse.

Announcement – 12 December 2023

The Melbourne Football Club is excited to commence a feasibility study to identify a location for the Club’s long term homebase within the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve. This study is part of a broader project that is focused on community sport and recreation resources, assets and services within the Reserve.

The study will be a partnership between the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve Trust (CRRT), the Melbourne Football Club (MFC) and local community stakeholders. (Note – no longer any reference to the State Government).

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
