Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Roos is prepared to take a role at Carlton!

When asked about Carlton on OTC last week Roos said he would work with any sporting or corporate organisation on 'leadership' as that is what his advisory/training business does.  He was quite adamant he wouldn't go into a coaching role.  I certainly got the impression 'leadership' work wouldn't be a 'staff' or operational role.  He didn't add to it on OTC last night.

I can't get behind the HS pay wall to read what update John Ralph may have but I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a spin on Roos' words last week.

He's a genius Paul Roos. Why go for the $1.5m/year and all those sleepless nights when you can take $500k to swing by for a latte and croissant and shoot the breeze every other week, attach your name to another sure fire rising success and keep the door open for an even bigger jackpot somewhere else later on. The Sundance Kid - playing the system like a vintage Stradivarius.

If I remember correctly, Roosy originally publicly said he wasn't interested in coaching the MFC either.  Not saying that means he will end up at CarlsIcum or not, but just that until the new coach of the scum is named, that we shouldn't completely dismiss it either.

I really do hope that Carlton get the coach they deserve, i.e. one that keeps them out of finals and anything that remotely smells like sucess for another 20 or 30 years.  Carlton are currently ahead of us as being the least sucessfull team this century and let's hope that we put a complete gulf between us and them over the next 2 - 5 years.  I want it to get soo bad for them that Carlton are part of the talk of relocation to Tasmania, a third Sydney side or maybe a merger with North.

LET them feel some more PAAAAIN

Ok balls, we get your passion, but I certainly don’t understand the hatred for Carlton. They’re nowhere near the Hawthorn/Collingwood/Essendon bretheren as far as I know! Nevertheless, retirement seems boring to me so I don’t blame the great one for keeping the door open after what I could only assume is a rather dull and uninspiring career in AFL media!!!

My question is this. Roos is a fabulous people person and will impact positively wherever he goes. Why couldn’t we have him back at the dees in a similar role to this one being discussed? I know goody took from Roos but i think they might be ok if he  had a good back room position? I think we should try to keep him at the club.

That's a bit ambiguous. Do you mean that Carlton have been less successful than us? Or that until now Carlton have been a bit more successful than us?

I read somewhere that as of about our 100 point belting of them last year Carlton have actually won less games (finals appearances included) than the MFC since 2000.

Many opposition supporters would claim a hatred and dislike for the MFC and that we got our comupance over the last 50 years of premiership drought for effectively buying players in the 50s/60s.  I think the same rational is fair to apply to Carlscum, they were buying flags and players up until the early 2000s in my book, with the likes of John Elliot running the show and their salery cap breaches.  Even Chris Judd was bought in with the assistance of Richard Pratt money.  I recon the cap breaches which were admitted were just the tip of the iceberg.

I'd also be quite happy to see Collingwood, Hawthorn, Essendon and Westcoast starved of anymore real sucess for a number of years, but there is unfortunately some bad prospects of WC or the Pies having more sucess this year.

Isn’t it about time we stood  on our own two feet now and simply got on with it?

Roos ( and PJ) did a great job for us taking on a basket case and establishing the blueprint.

So now we should know what’s required.

Im more interested in what we do rather than what Roos does or doesn’t do.

not quite 'surefire' I would suggest. they are 10 more losses away from a complete rebuild again. not a lot of talent coming through.

Carlscum were totally evil

”We are Carlton...[censored] the rest” was there Motto

they are right up there with the other HATED CLUBS

I'd take Roos back a Coach, any day. Jordan Lewis has much to offer in this regard, as well. We need to assemble a team of Demon ex-players as the FD support coaching team - where the real talent lies. We have fed the rest of the League for too long.

Carlton had massive rivalries with all 3 clubs in 80's and 90's because their fan base were as big a pack of C**** when they were up and about.

Andy Maher on SEN today: 'Paul Roos is pretty much past the post and will have a job at Carlton next year'

Rumour is he is quietly seething behind the scenes at what Goodwin has done to his legacy at the Dees, and that, combine with changed life circumstances, has seen him look to come back into the coaching fold.

Would have been a perfect person to bring a senior mature voice to our coaching group, but alas footy clubs are full of egos and there's just no way it could have happened.

Where on earth are you hearing that about Roos?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
