Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm conflicted between not getting roped in by tabloid TV bull and the fun of giving the AFL a kicking.

The CEO of Marvel Stadium was just interviewed on SEN. He said the most extraordinary thing I can't recall ever being said by an AFL employee before. He said they got it wrong.

To be fair, he's trying to ensure that everyone feels safe at the footy but he recognises that the security personnel behaviour was too intimidating. He said they're meant to be friendly and engaging with the crowd and if that's not happening, they've got the balance wrong. Good on him for admitting that what they're doing isn't working the way it's meant to. But also, good on him for recognising the importance of fans at the footy feeling safe and enjoying themselves.

WOW, ?Didn't think that would happen. Maybe now we can get back to the footy?

I heard the same interview and it was fair enough from his point of view.

But it didn’t explain one thing...

The same thing is happening at The MCG

This is an AFL directive....

Rather than the odd over-reaction (in either direction) what is most disturbing to me is the AFL coming up with the Orwellian title of "Behavioural Awareness Officers".

Add:  I apologise, the AFL heavies have read 1984. Unfortunately they didn't read it as a warning but as a style guide.

If loud mouth clowns are dropping F bombs left right and centre they need to be told to shut it.
Didn't often happen back in the day and is unacceptable now.
Punching on or intimidating other supporters is of course unacceptable also.
Fork 'em.

Have a look at the ones who are telling you they're picking on the 'harmless loud fool' though, it's generally the 'harmless loud fool' themselves.

'Bald headed [censored]' guy was hanging over the race screaming it (and by fans reports, various other things) directly at Nicholls as he was walking out. It wasn't a 'harmless loud' comment during the game after a decision he disagreed with when the umpire was hundreds of metres away on the ground, it was directly at him from close proximity and not during game time.

The Carlton bloke who has played the victim has a bunch of social media posts from before his 15 minutes of fame where he is absolutely abusing people with foul language in a way that would threaten most families at a game. You honestly believe he was just innocently barracking when kicked out?

Find it strange that for such a (generally) sceptical site, so many are getting sucked in by the media outrage agenda so easily.

Getting too in your face,  isn't OK.   That IS being abusive.

But yelling some abuse at the field from 40 Mtrs away,  isn't so personal... so not as intently hurtful.

People have to stop being so aggressive,  up in the persons space.

I think this is the difference, to respect with some reason, and being totally disrespectful,  at a humanity level.

Totally agree on both points forkie.

In my experience is there is significantly more loud, agressive swearing at the footy these days. I'm a loud supporter but yelling f and c bombs is bollocks.

I'll bet the poor me Carlton suppoter is one of those fools if that video he tweeted of him going off his head at last year's gf is anything to go by.

Exactly the sort of supporter that I can't abide.  Would have loved to see his post match video.

Yep agreed, and that's what i think is important about the Nicholls case. If that supporter was yelling it out from the crowd after a poor decision it's pretty standard stuff, but hanging over the race screaming it in his face as he's walking out is not ok IMO.

Funny thing is, there wasn't anything like the level of crackdown or heavy-handed tactics wheeled out to deal with people getting hopelessly trashed and hurling abuse or starting punchups at Auskick and other kids-level footy games. Local community clubs were practically left to handle it themselves.

And the 'behaviour' thug squads at Docklands didn't seem to do much to actually stop the really serious incidents of people dishing out constant vileness at anyone around them for a whole game, thanks to true gits lathered up with some generous 'preloading' of alcohol and kept slippy by the stadium's complete failure to actual do any basic responsible service of alcohol checks. Nobody looks at the chest-puffing lurkers the stadium calls protective and thinks 'oh, I'll ask those friendly looking fellows to come over and use their extensive training in conflict resolution and dealing with unruly behaviour, I'm sure they can take the heat out of the situation effectively and calmy'.

No, lets not have any effort directed at the actual problems in the crowds. We've got themed rounds for all that [censored].

Meanwhile, I see the social injustice warriors have decided it is all part of the neo-marxist militant feminist gaygenda. Whoopeee do. One might almost think that the AFL knew they'd get away with anything, thanks to the right kinds of nuffies getting worked up and making it about their own wacky persecution complexes to the point where nobody else wants to go near it.

That stooge from Marvel Stadium was clearly tapped on the shoulder by Dill last night after he heard about the backlash. “Might be my responsibility but you’re taking the heat for this one champ.” Queen takes knight.

I know our game has been going for around for long long time well before Gill was born how ever he wants to make the people's game his own game.

Gill has decided to make his decision on a  rectangular table sitting at the HEAD being the King censored Head surrounded by his flunkies.   No round tables at the AFL. Naughty, Naughty GILL what the censored are you doing to the people who pay your wages.?

The security that are pacing up and down the aisles seem not to understand our game if you get my drift. Where in the censored were they picked up from?  Maybe they  don't understand  the culture of our game?

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
