Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GAMEDAY: Rd 05 vs St Kilda

A must win game.

Dees played themselves into a bit of form last week. With Lewis back to add experience and Ronald McDonald finally dropped  (hopefully for good) and with a longer break than the Saints, this should be a comfortable Dees victory.

It's time for TMac and Weid to play themselves back into form against a not great St Kilda tall defence.  Add in Preuss and occasionally Max, and they'll find the match ups difficult.  We've just gotta get it done!  Another loss will be a massive kick in the guts for our confidence.

Jeez, I can hardly contain my excitement and anticipation about this arvo at the "G.

Before the Port match I scored a free packet of nuts with the footy record and then , against  the Druggies, I was given a free yoyo.

I'm all a tremble. What will it be today?

A whistle!

For you & all Dees to blow!

So we get some bloody free kicks!

Another loss and we’re onto 2020!

More of the 2nd half from last week. Hit outs from Max landing on Viney, Brayshaw & Clarries chests and a continuation of team defence, we have to run with the Saints.

Go Dees!

Win the contested ball and we win this game. Outside pace means little when your getting bullied off the footy.

Dees by plenty.

I like this theory but in practice we are beginning to see its many flaws.

I’m very concerned about the speed at which the Saints move the ball. I don’t think we can match it with them and today will spell the end of 2019 with a heavy loss of 8 goals.

Its already a critical game. If we go 1-4 with tigers to come.... it’s almost season over.

Not almost, would be. We’d then be 1-5 and would likely need to go 13-3 from there. Today is a must win game.

Wake up Demons!

Saints have overachieved so far this year and sitting pretty after a very soft draw while also running into teams at the right time (Essendon as a shambles, Hawks on one leg).

The headline tonight will be “Dees give Saints a reality check”.

Have to get off to a great start and kick accurately. We need to stand up today and win well. Hope Tommy can find the goals and bag a few. Have to stop there midfield and they have a couple of tall forwards that are great marks.

Hope Pruess plays because I want to see what he can do live at a game and I hope Maxy finds his 2018 form.

But we need the win to not only get our season back on track but to get away from the teams below us.

Hopefully one of those self flagellation whips that religious zealot bloke in the Da Vinci code used to use on himself.

Jack Steven is a big in for them. I think our mids are classier than theirs on paper but matches aren't won on paper. How the Saints have won thus far has been because of across the board team defense and an ability to work hard.

We win if we get the game on our terms. Meaning that all mids don't swarm around stoppages for a lick of the ice cream. Some need to drop back to create the second link in the possession chain and to cover the outside option the Saints will doubtlessly try to exploit.

Melbourne by 6 points for mine.

You get what you deserve in football and if we can't knock off the mediocre Saints we don't deserve to be finalists.

Last week St.Kilda fell over the line against Hawthorn by less than a goal.

This was a Hawthorn who had no Shiel, no O'Meara, no Burgoyne, no Mitchell AND lost Frawley before half-time and Stratton in the third quarter, so their rotations were stuffed and their personnel decimated.

They move the ball quickly as they do have runners at each line. They also lead and kick to set routines and once deciphered, exposed intent is very predictable.

Season on the line in Round 5.   Lose today and its all over.

If you think thats an exaggeration, go and look at our fixture.  We are not coming back from 1-4.

Tony? Not sure who Tony is or if he'll be watching.

I will be, but only because I have the Saints in a multi bet.

Best of both world. Dees win and I'm happy. Dees lose and I'm rich.

p.s. I'd much rather be happy

Saints scores have been 13.7, 10.16, 9.12, and 10.14. Low scores and inaccurate.

We just need to limit the oppositions' scoring efficiency once they're inside their 50m arc.

Surely we can hold them to less than 10 goals?

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
