Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I like it.

As long as it’s not high, why should fending off with foot be different from fending by arm..?

Adds a new dimension and skill to the game... bring it on!

Well next time an opposing ruckman goes into Max at the bounce with studs out  ............??

RUCKMEN ARE PENALISED FOR MAKING EXCESSIVE CONTACT (

yeah, and to make it even tougher, why not a spot of eye-gouging, or since that is contact above the shoulders, how about twisting the oppo's balls.   .

Well it was ok for Prancer on Friday night, and I'm pretty sure he had a crack at Dangerfields gear a few weeks ago as well.

I would be seeking clarification from the AFL.  If he uses the leg, can you attack it?  When is it a kick, and when is it a fend?  If you grab it, is it a tripping offence?  Can we now use this in ruck contests as well as marking contests?

I see it as a weak dog act.  Should be outlawed when the foot is intentionally raised to make contact with the opponent.  Should use his body or his footy smarts, not be Mr Miagi.

It's not just the foot being raised he's actually kicking out, he got the Sydney player right in the guts. I don't know what the umpire was thinking here.

The Dalhaus one was even worse as that wasn't even a marking contest, it should never have escaped suspension...but typical AFL making a rod for their own back.

A dirty coward whos afraid to take contact, hence sticking the leg out.

Now I want to play them in the Grand Final so Jack Viney can sort him out.

He's not using the kick to protect himself, he's using it to guard space.

He's actually kicking out at an opponent and that's kicking in danger.

No need for a rule change.

Could also be seen as a kicking report if he makes contact, and he does.

Knee up for protection yes, foot up questionable but kicking out most definitely not.

I don't think it falls under kicking in danger because I believe that rule specifically refers to "attempting to kick a ball in a dangerous manner".

But there are already rules around kicking and rough play that are appropriate.

I hope he cops a week. GWS can't win without him, he is their most important player. Hate his guts.

Get rid of him, and in the process get rid of this soulless garbage franchise of a club. Don't deserve success.

Now correct me if I am wrong Jaded but I am getting the impression you don't like GWS.

Given that they won’t have the guts to make a stand whilst their love child GW$ is still in the finals, they must make a stand in the off season.

Hell, they are so bloody keen on making absurd rule changes - goal rectangle and 666 for starters - how about making it very clear that the foot is for contacting the ball and nothing else.

“Fending off” with the foot -> mandatory suspension, yes, even for members of franchise clubs.

What happens when this *&*&^$ knocks some out and they have concussion?

I hope this has been properly discussed at the back of house.

I can understand this approach, in that reporting and suspending such acts are subject to a whole bunch of grading issues and will result in real variations between what is allowed and what isn't allowed, resulting in inconsistent outcomes for similar acts.

But if umpires are told "pay a free kick any time this happens", it'll stop pretty quickly. Particularly if GWS is told the will be a crack down this week.

WOW that is one big bag of complete BS - not sure what the MRC are thinking really

How he can get away with deliberately sticking his boots into someone attacking the ball is beyond belief

Karma hopefully will prevail and he does his ACL next attempt

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
