Bugg will not be in the side

I'm hoping this is the case. He may try, but just doesn't seem to do anything particularly well, and some things not so good at all (foot skills, decision making etc.)

I'd much prefer Hannan or Kent for the role.

All the talk has been about our tall forwards. To me the biggest problem has been our smalls - Spargo is not ready and Jeff goes missing far too often. Kent must come in along with Melksham and maybe Hannan.

Jeffy doesn't commit to contests enough... he could force many more ball spills,,, when oppo's take easy marks without any action from his truly.

Chasing isn't enough;  I want him banging bodies to see if he can shake the odd ball loose, once in a while.

When its in his area, he has to go, or bugger off.

I think we will see this now, we aren't going to change our game style so we need 3 talls up forward to compete in the air.  Frost gets Darling and Pederson is basically in to play on Mcgovern no matter where he goes

In Melksham, Hibberd, Weiderman, Kent

Out Hogan, Hunt, Garlett, Spargo

Line Up

Jetta Frost Fritsch

Hibberd Omac Lewis

Jones Oliver Salem

Petracca Pederson Vandenburg

Melksham Tmac Weiderman

Gawn Brayshaw Harmes

ANB Kent Tyson Kennedy Harris

I like these changes Red, and whilst we only lost by 9 points, so 5 changes seems ridiculous, I'd also like to replace JKH with Hannan.

Can't see 5 changes.

Thought JKH was ok.

Jeffy and ANB were poor. Both will probably stay in.

Jeffy could be on his last chance.

Spargo will be better with another pre season.

Melksham, Hibberd and Weid officially in according to Goodwins press conference today.

Likely changes IMO

Out: Hogan (inj), Hunt, (inj), Pedo (dropped)

In: Weid (for Hogan), Hibberd (to replace Pedo in the backline, as Pedo made us top heavy and provided nothing), Melksham (to replace Hunt, with Fritsch to the backline in Hunts place and Melk up forward)

This makes sense, but God we need Fritsch up forward kicking truly

Kent will get promoted.

I hope it is to replace garlett. He was a terrible against the swans. Unforgivable lack of intensity from one of our senior players.

I'd also drop Spargo and bring Hannan back in. Hannan and Kent as small forwards is a good combination i reckon. Hard bodies, both of who one presumes will leave nothing in the shed.

Sorry pedo i'd also drop you big fella. Didn't give us enough on the weekend.

So if i was doing selections (as opposed to what i think will happen, which to be honest i have no idea what they'll do) i would have:

Out: Hogan (inj), Hunt (inj), Spar goes, Gar left, Pederson

In: Weed, Hibbo, Melk, Kent, Hannan

I hate the sound of Weird, Pedo, and TMac in the forward line. Feels too top heavy on what will be a super fast track.

Thats why you have 3 small forwards at there feet, we need to mark the footy are bring the footy to ground, to many intercept marks of recent and the Eagles love that attacking from the backline of the interception.

Agree with all of this. My main concern with JKH is the gap between his best, which is OK, and his worst, which just about put Nathan Jones in hospital when he kicked his hospital pass in the game against the Suns and provided Jonesy with a nice shiner. There's just too much bandwidth on his game for my liking, hopefully it doesn't bite us in the arse come Sunday night.

but I agree with the above and would add Bugg for Garlett.

I want players that are playing for their careers and will fight to the death.

ANB is just lucky there will be too many changes but he is next on my list after his appalling game on the weekend.

Not a Kent fan but when he came back last time his physical pressure was good.

Its also his hometown/WA crowd and he will want to do very well there

Agree players need an incentive sometime apart from the Eagle crapping in their hand each week. Whatever incentive works use it. It will end up to the players advantage as well    Go Dees   everything crossed but not hopeful.

With the 3 changes already flagged by Goodwin I feel like there will be one more with Kent to come in. Given the position you would think it’s between Spargo and Garlett.

Both have good reasons to be dropped (or potentially rested in Spargo’s case).

With Garlett feel like we have some magic in the forward line where when he’s on he can be one of the best small forwards in the game. Unfortunately when he’s off, and he hasn’t shown a whole lot since his return, he can be lazy with zero forward pressure and missing getable chances.

With Spargo you have a young player who has shown a lot of promise this year, his first half of the year was fantastic however his second half has been a lot less productive. I don’t think he’s properly stuck a tackle in weeks and for me he looks tired. He had a mare last week and has been in a decline for a while.

My opinion is that Garlett stays while Spargo either gets rested or given time at Casey. Garlett can be a match winner at times, and although he’s down on confidence I think it’s time to have an older head rather than a young first year player.

Jeffy’s on thin ice though.

Jones called for it, so you don't kick to the captain?

Against Sydney JKH has 14 disposals at 100% efficiency

Is there a rule saying we have to kick it to our captain at all costs??

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
