Must admit had a huge smile on my dial when betts missed that goal from 10m out.

Also breathed a sigh of relief too.

Well done to JKH tonight I've been one doubting his ability at AFL level.

Was good tonight with decision making and pressure

He's 2 from 2 at AO now if I believe. Maybe 3 from 3 if he played Port there in 2016. He seems to like playing there. he's game there in 2014 was memorable.

Well...the wife had an early start this morning...an early night last night.. resulting in the telly going off half way through the third. What a pivotal moment .

I really hadn't liked our chances going in to this but what a brilliant surprise awaited when checking scores before.

Still worries me ..so much fumbling. Reading some posts it looks like it might not have gone our way had they been a bit more accurate ...but we got the choccies...and in peasoupsville no less. I hope that poster's old man had a big smile as he walked home past all those crow's nests ;) to those that made a late decision to go...well lucky you :)

Well am off to watch what I missed.

Go Dees

In another post I mentioned that he led training all week around a single minded focus on beating the West Lakes' boys

I believe he'll be okay

I thought we were ordinary. In particular, the number of sloppy missed tackles was huge, and we got by on the back of one ripper quarter.

In saying that, it made the win even sweeter. After dominating games against the likes of Port and Geelong, and getting nothing, it was great to grind out a win against a decent side in enemy territory.

I thought it touching that at 13 points up with 13 seconds to go our leaders made a point of getting extras back in defence.

And the naysayers said we never learn.

Lets not forget that we were 20 points down in a hostile environment and STILL won.

Well done boys.

Yes Ox, loved the slow grind of working back into the game by half time. Then full throttle with 10 to go in the third. What a lovely Sunday morning.

dude, i still say that. we basically squandered a 5 goal lead in torrential rain. we were 1 coat of paint away from betts' goal going through and probably winning or drawing the game.  a big relief but certainly haven't learnt.

Footy is funny last week we were all cracking the [censored] due to the last quarter fade out and this week we are all happy as fat kids in a lolly shop (although we were close to cracking it again).

Footy is a funny thing.

Crows won nearly ever stat. More disposals, tackles, frees, contested possessions, inside 50s and scoring shots.

Only stat we thrashed them in was clearances.

Pretty hard to say Betts goal = loss. Ball goes back to the middle for another long winded scrappy contest. It could very well have been the last score of the game.

Anyway he didn’t kick it, so tough luck for them.

As long as you mention the 11 shots we had in the third and that our backline, before the rain hit, completely nullified their much vaunted tall forwards.

We were defending a big lead going into the last and were helped by a huge downpour. We couldn't stop them getting 10 shots on goal and nearly blew it again.

great we won. Great you're happy.

Yep. Sadly, the only outcome that matters out of all the possible ones, is the one that actually happened.

If youre not happy after a win like that why would you even follow the game? Surely you got some enjoyment out of it.

I honestly can’t imagine watching footy in a manner where I couldn’t get enjoyment out of imperfect wins. I feel sorry for you.

Yep especially when he coughed the ball up in our f50 which I think if my memory serves me correctly resulted in a goal for us.

In fairness though... there's two aspects here.

Yep...great we won. Go Dees

but I think Jnr is legit in reminding that it was not really emphatic. It could have been another loss at the line.

A few things working in our favour...and yes that's life. I'll take that win...thanks footy gods..but Jesus we need to find better ways of shutting up shop when we're leading in the last.

I'm pretty harsh on players as everyone knows but i like joel smith. sure, he lacks smarts at the moment but he will get there. he is the most athletic player on our list and i think him and frost will be fine. even though frost made me throw the remote against the wall and lose its batteries after his throw in the last few minutes. lol

Ditto.  Thought it was all over

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
