Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GAMEDAY - Round 10

Here we go.

If we had of set a bench mark for our last 4 weeks I think 75 goals, 14 quarters won in a row and 3rd on the ladder would have been about the best we could hope for.

To those who say we played easy teams, tell that to Hawthorn and Geelong last week.

These next 3 games are vitally important, and I for one have a good feeling.

I'll happily settle on a win of any proportions, but I have a very pleasant game-day feeling that we will have won 18 quarters on the trot by the end of the round.  That's not 100% unreasonable, is it?

Think we will get the job done. Huge game to keep in touch with the top 4 & cement inside the 8. Biggest game this clubs played in for many years, free to air & many eyes watching. Time to show we are the real deal.

So I have a kiddie matinee show thingo I have to attend,  and if I get caught on the phone by Mrs Naked I’m dead meat.  So I will be blind to probably the first half at least, unless I can a few dunny runs.

Adelaide play a tough contested brand of ball.  We have to serve it straight back.  Max will dominate Jacobs, their midfield will ruck to him.  Need to win the midfield, and shut down their HB run.  And keep Eddie quiet.

1 goal per quarter better, plus a late surge sees us home by 35 points.

I will watch the replay later.

Absolutely.  Adelaide even with a bunch of guns out are a very good team.

A 1 win point will be just fine thanks.

Along with the video on the MFC website sounds like good things are happening with our Central Australian Academy and the Red Tails side.

On both a travel and footy fronts it would be good if we could keep the Alice Springs game but ditch the Darwin game.

I'll begrudingly support a 0.0.3 to 0.0.2 win so we keep our percentage going up.

I have to attend my mother in laws birthday gathering this afternoon....oh what fun!  Can’t decide if this is a line in the sand, seizing the moment, stamping our authority or no turning back game. This is also the first of 3 payback games owing to atone for last seasons round 23 debacle.

I have a feeling we'll lose by 8 goals sorry

I was more confident early in the week but I have a feeling the game will be a repeat of our last match against them in the top end. Even with 5 big outs I think they will be too strong for us. Fingers crossed I'm wrong.

The Hawks and Tigers games are still fresh enough in my memory to be too confident about this one. But if we do win then I will believe we are the real deal.

Today is the day, Go Dees!!!

Yes they were real easy, everyone points out how we have not beaten anyone good, pointing to the big lose against hawthorn, but 2 of our wins those teams smashed hawthorn. Hawks were really smashed by Brisbane that was  embarrassing, just  imagine if Brisbane beat us by 10 goals, everyone would be asking for Goodwin's head, and writing up that we are doomed. The Hawks will lose this weekend by 10 goals.

Thoughts.

  • We were playing with a large number of players out of form at the start of the year and were doing ok.
  • Hawthorn game showed that we were out of form and gave us a reality check
  • We were mentally under the pump in the Richmond game with the aftermath of the Hawks game and were not on our game
  • 4 games against easy opponents, but we now have a number of players who are back in form.
  • This one is ours for the taking. They have a large number of players out and we are in red hot form. Lets do this!

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
