Reckon we’ll bomb long too often and Sicily will pick them off all day. He’s the key player we have to make accountable to get the 4 points IMO.

Predicting Hawks by 9. Hope I’m wrong!

A 'litmus test' for the 2018 prospects of both teams, I reckon.  If everything clicks for us (and we are getting closer to that point, I reckon) I think we can win a close one, but if it doesn't turn out that way, the hawks might win by 4 or 5 goals.  I'll back our increasing confidence and talent to get us over the line by 9 points.

It’s raining here in the forest and yes I know that’s why they call it a rainforest but the air is clean and even without a cheroot I can see down through the end of the gorge and across the rolling hills to Julian Rocks and a sooty oystercatcher there winks back to me and says don’t tag Mitch let Clarry go head to head and this young superstar will put fear into the comp. (A friend says Macca reckons Clarry has the potential to be top twenty of all time).

The Dees by four goals...

Last week i saw Jones getting the ball in his range and looking for an option to short pass to. This was more ANB type forward work but very happy to see the captain not bomb it and look for another option.

I think the lead will change more than once and the Hawks are just so well coached, disciplined with defensive setups and kick unfalteringly to position that their less talented team will mean it will be heart in mouth for the last 10 minutes.

100% agree with you on Jones, it was awesome to see him be so damaging.  To have the captain delivering the ball like that... I hope it was a turning point and he continues that form.

This is the game of the coaches. We're better on paper but Clarkson is a master coach-

I dislike the scramble-ball style, it's beneath the talent we have.  With Jones and Hogan, Goody seems to be building roles and a style that's yet to fully realise. Against the precision opposition, on the MCG, I suspect this could be the game we'll see it...

Please let us beat the shite out of this mob, and set their season into a tail spin... please!

little man mitchell wont get near it as hes a foot shorter than everyone else

The man is a freak. We must tag him IMO.

This place is bizarre. We have one semi encouraging win against one of the favourites for the bottom 4 and all of a sudden 9/10 on here tip a huge win.

The hawks are a serious step up in on field and in box quality and form wise, have had probably the best start to the season (maybe other than port).

I'm hopeful we can win but think it will be close. Worried about their speed off the wing (Smith impey) and in the forward line (breust puopolo) whilst our smaller defenders seem in poor form (no hunt hurts in this one).

Think they will beat us by 3 goals.

5 points down 30 seconds to go Gawn marks at  the 45, Frawley runs into the protected area, 50 mt penalty. Max runs down the clock. Bam 1 point win, karma.

You left out the bit when Frawley is the one who kicks the ball that Max marks ... :D

was going to add to the changes thread but doesn't really fit

I'm so intruiged  by the Hawks game coming up on sunday. The pessimist (MFC supporter part) in me says we wont win. the Hawks have certainly improved. Beat Geelong and lost to Tigers by a goal. But then sometimes I think about Trac and Clarry and Jesse and I think we should easily beat them if we have the belief.

One of the MANY defining games of our season and I can't wait.

So what are your thoughts, predictions?

I think we will hammer them by 1 point  ;-)

Hogan will elevate himself to elite status and destroy chip and Lever will finally look like belongs and intercept all day

I think Hogan will run Chip around until his wooden leg drops off.

Pedo in for Frost, to enable Gawn forward more often.  Pedo to jump into McEvoy as much as possible.

I've changed my mind on Bernie,,, & I think Bernie will go with O'meara.   Another option to O'meara might be Bugg.

I'd play ANB to shadow Mitchell like a rash vest.

I'd give Dion a game now, to play tight on Cyril.

I see this game consisting of a top team recently on decline, which has a well drilled and successful gamestyle,,, versus an upcoming yet green team, with a new and changing gamestyle which is not so well drilled in just yet.

I think weDees have more talent of the future, yet theHawks have a more steady team environment.

I'll TIP a draw for this game.

Nothing bizarre about it.  The last 3 times we played them we have had their measure but only managed to win 1 of those mainly due to lack of composure & experience.  We have improved from 2017 more than they have.

Feeling really good about this game, don't know why,  once the boys got going the team balance seemed just right.

I don't expect Maxy to get his own way against McEvoy.

Mitchell gets 37 but the Dees will win by the same margin.

I can't believe any Dees supporter would tip against us with the form we are in:blink:

Although I do agree it will be tight though.

I thought that they might run us close for a while until i realised who was out, and this bloke always puts in a good one against us in Burgoyne.                     .

I think that Mitchell is overrated, and O'meara can damage us more. But we have the advantage of a lot of inside information that will be well utilised.

That said, and by the way Lewis jumped up like a Demon after a big hit last week i'm thinking a last quarter pull away and 30 Points our way.

I hope the umpiring improves. Cant believe the nonsense decisions against norf. The dodgy frees to Brown. The 2 against Gawn. The robbing of Fritches mark in goal square.  Not being able to bump someone in the side. The lack of hands in the back being paid against Brown.

Bloody hell it was poor.

I won't trust us until we can consistently perform week in, week out.

Heart says Dees by 28.

Head says Hawks by 9.

Hawks were rubbish early last year and still beat us. Really hopefully of a win but would be very surprised if it wasn’t close.

Dees $1.70 hawks $2.16 was strange seeing that I just assumed hawks would be favorites

Or at least even money.

Their form line is no worse than ours and have had the tougher fixture todate.

Funny. The bookies have us at 1.70 favorites.  Sure not 9 out 10 but clear favorites nonetheless. So not so bizarre a fan forum of demons fans would think we will win well.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
