He is an idiot. 2 weeks minimum.

Was there more force than the one Oliver copped from the not guilty Eagle?

Nevertheless it was stupid given the time of year and with our injuries and the need for experienced players to be playing.

I thought so too at first. But looking at the replay it seemed he also made contact with head.

Richo did say after a few replays that he got him on the shoulder. If so will we have discussion on Douglas grabbing his face?

Bernie is cooked anyway.

lol.

This crap again. B and F winners who are still having huge positive impacts on games deserve more respect.

I reckon it could be argued, but is borderline.

Given how much of a crapshoot the whole MRP and tribunal are, might be worth a shot.

He'll get one week for committing two careless acts in the one game.

Posted

The 2nd one was just two blokes going for the ball.

Bernie had a good game imo

Not much in either 1

hit on betts he wasn't even watching what he was doing, maybe a fine

the other hit he was going for the ball realized at last second wouldn't get there so pulled up and braced, caught him high so free kick at most

but being we are Melbourne and the MRP Chook lotto system I expect him to get 4 weeks

Insightful as usual jnrmac.

You don't think he'll end up with at least 3 weeks?

Have you actually watched the incident? Your record is only applicable after you,ve been charged

Betts should get done for staging barely touched him. Should get off on the bump, going for the ball and braced for unavoidable contact.

Insufficient force. Fine for stupidity

He was running at the ball but braced for contact at the last second. Certaintly didn't look a lot in it. Douglas got up straight away

Becoming a version of Dunn circa 2009-12.

Last night's two acts were putrid and [censored] pathetic. Then he goes on to have little to no impact on the game.

Bugg was identical in the Sydney game.

I'd bring Bernie back through the VFL after his vacation. I've had a enough of his [censored].

Steve, you are aware he kept Sloane very quiet up to where he was concussed? Bernie's main job most weeks is to tag the opposition's main ball winner. He did a great job of it last night, but the two hits were dumb acts and very disappointing

Just dumb....Vince has had a bad year..maybe not needed anyhow.Smith needs to be dropped.Too many out of form.Brought back to early.Several should have played for  Casey  to hit form,Trengove should have been tried, in form, weeks ago.Dumb match committee IMO.

Two for the hit on Betts, three for the one on Douglas

Silly Bernie

That would be outrageous.

If he gets one week I'll be disappointed.

Elbow was dumb but was insufficient force to warrant a week.

The clash with Douglas he was going for the ball and braced for impact, which caught him on the shoulder not the head.

If he gets any ban I want the club to challenge, please for once in our lives!

Have we collectively forgotten that the sentence is (illogically) based on the result, not the act?

Considering both players were fine, Bernie should walk.

Precedent already been set by yellow maggots. You don't get rubbed out for elbowing to the head(circa case WC vrs MFC)

Douglas (serial stager) agreed with Bernie after game, i think saying he will state at tribunal that it was a shoulder hit.

Eddie i don't think had any goals/kicks to that point so wanted one......

One of these days, with some of these blokes that "get hit", they are going to come out with "double whiplash", that's when you put your head back and then accelerate back further......a la Dimma, Footscray (along with half the team) and Selwood...

Unfortunately Bernie has a record and an extra week will get added if  he gets done. The Douglas one, I just thought Bernie was going for the ball. the betts open was just dumb but didnt do any damage. Who would know what will happen.

Posted (edited)

On Gameday they seem to reckon (from memory) that Vince may get 1 week for Betts and 2 weeks for other incident, with a decent loading and bad record could go for 4-6 due to it being doubled.....

He'll get off the bump, as he was committed and braced himself more than anything.

I suspect he'll get a week for the elbow (depending on his record) but the contact with the elbow was so minimal it's conceivable he'll get off.

Deserves a week for stupidity.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
