Umpire tells Carlton player to move back one metre on mark, Carlton player stands still, umpire doesn't give a 50 metre penalty.

Yeah I saw that too

We aren't too far off the pace.

Targets need to be hit. That is crucial.

That being said, I would rather be up than down.

Kent - hardly a shade of his former self, slow an lazy.

Don't know which Kent you're talking about but that's extremely typical of this one. Exactly why I didn't want him picked!

As expected, we look like a team that has no interest in playing finals

Just a shakey start like always. Umps havent helped and b4 anyone says leave it out they were gifted 2 frees in front of goal. Hogan missed a soda.

Umpiring has been poor but we're losing this match ourselves with horrible skill errors and not running both ways. Hard to see how we'll win this today. Worrying signs to allow another bottom 4 team to dictate the game against us.

Agree, don't think we are that far out of it, just need to tidy up the things you mention above. Bounce of the ball has been kind to them as well plus a couple of dubious umpiring descisions. Goody will sort that out at quarter time, all good.

We have made many errors but we are getting the ball. Oliver doing well. 2 iffy frees have given them goals so we are well and truly in it. Besides we never win first quarters.

Good teams don't allow a bottom 4 club to break away.  We will be lucky to make finals given the time still left for Jones, Watts and Jack to come back.  Without them we look bog ordinary

Kruezer and gibbs killing us. What has happened to Kent. Terrible.  Id rather see trenners play

2 possessions Kent - not enough.  Last chance surely.

Lewis looks like its his first game so often with his disposal

Leadership in tight games especially in the absence of our captains is surely why Lewis was recruited - TIME TO STAND UP, JORDAN

To be honest it's gone pretty much as I expected - we can't win the contested ball and our disposal going anywhere i50 looks garbage

We are slow in transition both offensively and defensively

Hogan, Garlett and Smith all look severely underdone

Yep, so typical of a Melbourne culture. Build the hopes up, then crash it all down in the blink of an eye. I fear this game will be over by half time, and so too the season.

Getting opened up easier than a can of beans !!

Need better than this. Sloppy sloppy Dees !!

Playing dumb footy and into their hands....too often.

Gotta lift big time.

Season on line right here ( unfortunately )

Not sure why Kent was brought in ahead of JKH or even Kennedy, or what strength he brings.

Carlton well-drilled, and exploiting it. One of the issues for us is not so much covering injuries, but doing so where everyone is playing (effectively) out of position.

Quarter time couldn't have come quickly enough. The difference between the teams can be summed up by the ratio of kicks to handballs. They're kicking when a kick is required and we're overdoing the handball. We can still win if Goodwin makes the appropriate adjustment.

Jeez there's a lot of sooking on this thread. Blues are a better side than people realise. We have about 3 good footballers playing, and many coming off long layoffs. We're still better, we just have no structure. None of this should come as a shock.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
