We could be playing our Casey team tonight and I'd still tip the Demons.

17 points.

I hate to be a smartarse Steve, but if the Dees were playing Casey, then of course the Demons would win.

If Hunt is out as well I think we ARE playing our Casey team McQueen! :)

I'm still backing us, I'm backing our system. It's been a long time coming but I am starting to believe!

I think we will win, and win quite well. Sportsbet has them slight favorites, with a 2.5 point start. With no money in the the pool i would set the line at Melbourne plus 10, so i think the line is great value from a betting perspective as is the straight out win.

My reasoning is that, even with the injuries and six day break we are a better side. Yes their form of late has been good, but so has ours and we have won two more games than them and have a better percentage.

They will need to score 100 plus points to beat us and i don't think they will. They will match us in the intensity stakes, but will have to and i think we will have too much pace (i just wanted to say that - a dees side with too much pace!)

But i think our key strength will be our midfield. Max ea terrific last week but will be better this week.

To be honest if we are on early i could see us giving them a touch up so will be having a little on the over 40 bet at $7.50.

Trac, Hannan and Bugg for most goals. Trac built for this stage, Hannan is will bob up for at least a couple and i have a sneaky feeling Bugg might play a blinder.

Go dees

Sydney dont scare me, they are an average team and were lucky to get out of jail last week against Essendrug on their home turf.

What does bother me are all the stars we have out combined with playing 4 games in 18 days, a result of the tail end of three 6 day breaks.

We shouldn't underestimate Sydney's scoring ability - they have had the yips lately.

Last 3 weeks they have kicked: 12.16. 88, 10.11.71, and 11.20.86.

We are the opposite and have nailed the goals for last 3 games: 15.14.104, 17.11.113, and 15.9.96

They certainly get a lot of chances at goal and had a number of scoring shots more than us.  If Buddy and a few others find their compass we are in trouble.

As much as I love Tom Mc's five goal haul last week it would be a big ask for him to do it again.  The key for us will be Petracca.  If the Swans don't stop him he is our best chance of kicking a winning score.

They won't beat us with a score like that. We have barely kicked under 90 points this year.

Fox Footy had the Round 1 2011 clash between Melb & the Swans.  Swannies led most of the game, until Brad Green put through an absolutely spectacular goal to put us in front with a few minutes to go.  Alas, the Swannies managed to kick a point right near the end to end the game in a draw!

Trenners played well, and it was Luke Tapscott's first game.  He also played well, and they were talking him up as a real find for Melb, and a 10 yr player.  Alas, was not to be.

Anyway, back to 2017.  Big game.  Let's see the Mighty Dees bring it home in front of a big Friday Night crowd at the "G"...!!

Saw that a hot day but a false dawn

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
