On Buckley,

I'm not sure he is a great manager of men.

I don't think he has ever had the confidence of his team .

It doesn't help that fast Eddy and guys like Gubby Allen make headlines .

No finals- No Buckley .

The irony is that Eddie, who probably has more love for Buckley than his own wife, has been the architect of destruction for Buckley's coaching career. Panicking that another club would snaffle up his golden boy he engineered what he thought would be the perfect change over, he failed to actually consider whether Buckley was ready for/good at coaching.

Untried coaches that don't go through the proper channels of learning the art and taking multiple roles at different clubs clearly don't seem to work.

I expect Buckley won't be there next year if they miss finals and I don't think it's all Nathan's fault.

Was at the game, just watching replay for first time. I felt it in the day and replay confirms it, if we'd kicked into our fwd 50 with any kind of accuracy in the first qtr and a half we'd have been 5 goals in front.

We were all over them, turn overs made them look good.

This is a pretty good love-in but there were two howlers that could have changed things dramatically. The first was our first goal and the pathetic handball from TMac to Viney. That could have been one of the biggest stuff ups of all time.

The second was the 50m penalty in the ast quarter when Bugg tapped the ball from Greenwood's hands. Luckily Greenwood missed the shot but that stupid act could have easily cost us the game.

Watching the replay of the fateful goal, who was the bloke that Watts ran past as he went for his 50m hard lead?

Taylor Adams.

I really hope that kid joins a successful club one day, he deserves it...

Tyson's last kick was the biggest howler. Kicked it nowhere near the boundary line, almost into the corridor and to a nest of Magpies. It was ridiculous whether it was intended or basic skill error.

If Hibberd didn't spoil DeGoey he was lining up to put them in front.

Enter Harmes and Watts...

I'm a tad peeved that there's quite a few Watts' bashers on this forum who are sitting back saying that they're 'happy for him' and this was the 'redemption' blah blah blah

Jack Watts is more to this footy team than that goal yesterday - he shows human leadership, determination, has an iron will and an ability to turn off from puerile, unrelentless vitriol

That goal was Jack Watts doing what he does best - the poise, the class, the finish

I was down there behind the goals as well. It was the loudest I've ever heard at a game.

Interesting that when the Pies have lost the criticism has been that the players are not playing for their coach, and when they win "we did it for Bucks"!

So yesterday were they not "playing for Bucks"?

Great follow up kick.

He did this so often with us.  Big spekkie followed up with an instant turnover.

It was like school kick to kick.  He knew it was coming to T-mac (our predictable exit strategy) so he just set himself for the easiest hanger of all time.

He seems to be doing OK at the pies.  His call to walk.  Great he is part of such a 'successful outfit' with them.

In the first half, I was quite frustrated that they seemed to be guarding grass and watching (with tackles not sticking) and us being completely smashed in the contested marks.

I knew we were up and about in the third quarter when the guys sprinted to cover a fat-side spread.  All three of the collingwood players had Dees right with them, making a series of contests rather than a simple transition.  When we play like that, we are a different side.  We make contests and often win or halve them.  It allows us to set up our defensive structures at a minimum.

I've said it before and ill say it again our biggest issue is our foot skills. Way too many kicks miss simple targets atm for us to go all the way. Perhaps it is handling the adrenaline of the starts of games rather than not being switched on. In this context it was interesting to read goody saying he was deliberately taking a low key approach to the the preparation for this game.

I've been sitting in the same stand for near on 12 years. First time ever every single supporter got out of their chair and was jumping around. It was seriously the most pure moment of joy I've felt from our supporters in my time.

Yes, i did, he bounced it with his left hand i think. A little unusual for a right hander.

Could you imagine the media today if he stuffed that up completely and missed that goal? Could you imagine the outrage on here. This is why I'm so happy for him and he was composed.

But he never looked like he was going to miss.

Many on here forget that Jack was also a gun basketball player at school

Ron Burg's description was spot on. Time stood still. That's what it felt like at the ground. Watching on replay I was surprised by how many players were in our forward 50. At the time it felt like he was the only one on the ground.

A moment that will live for years.

(And for those not at the G ... yes it was loud. It was as cathartic for us Demons fans as it must have been for Jack!)

My son and I were seated a few rows back midway between the goal and point posts in that pocket. It was strange as Watts jogged into the 50 and towards goal, there was an eerie silence and even the Pies players seemed a bit mesmerised and weren't making moves to shut him down. Then when he took that kick and it sailed through, the whole place erupted! That goes down as one of the most memorable football moments in my 65 years; seriously!

Perhaps while Eddy is looking for an apology from 360, he could do one on behalf of his own backyard  to Neale. Too much to ask for the walking Broady apology book.....

Biggest roar since 2006 elimination final win. That  Watts goal is something very special, stoked to have witnessed it! The TV coverage doesn't do justice to the noise at the ground

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
