isn't 4 weeks (now minus a little) plus 1 bye week add upto 5 weeks (now minus a few days)?

Sort of...I was thinking 6 weeks from when the injury happened ie recovery time

He's a pretty reliable kick from 35m or less and without much of an angle to work with.

It's once he gets further out or starts hugging the boundary line that he's fairly useless.

We have some pretty reliable shots for goal, Watts (elite), TMac, Jones, Pedersen, Lewis, Salem. JH is a long way behind these guys.

Add Christian Petracca to that list. He is a beautiful kick.

What a mare of a season Hogan had.

Anyone Know how many games he played this season?

Could be the making of the kid.  Hopefully he can put this year behind him and it makes him a stronger, tougher and more resilient player for the future.

For me this is why there doesn't seem to be any point playing him again this year. At best we make finals and he's available for selection, without match/fitness conditioning what will his value be on the field? Moral for teammates?

If we end up in the finals we need everyone cherry ripe and in form, we don't need someone out on the field finding his feet again. The only scenario I'd be happy with is if he returned with Casey playing finals and he has AT LEAST one week there and dominates before playing for us.

That he's played 8 games is imo testament to his character. Suspension, father's death, cancer. That trifecta may have knocked anyone else out for the season.  He is a great kid with a great head on his shoulders. He'll bounce back.

on the latest real footy (aka the age) podcast, they alluded to difficulties btw hogan and goodwin again, and that we are shopping him for trade despite him being under contract

i really hope it's all just white noise; you don't give up on a talent as special as jesse

Are you referring to the spot around the 21 min mark where they said a club is shopping their star forward around because of issues with the head coach? No mention was made of names.  Was the discussion you allude to about Hogan somewhere else in the recording?

If its a rumour it probably started in the DL Jake Lever thread when someone suggested him as a trade.  The last thing Jesse needs is to be the talk of the town again!  I cannot imagine the club trading Hogan under any circumstances let alone being seen to 'dump' him after his horrendous year.

Edit:  If the podcast did not mention Jesse, then his name should not be mentioned as it only feeds the 'fake story'.  It could be any number of clubs.  Bulldogs-Boyd.  Pies-Moore.  StK-McCartin.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
