Credit to the coaches. We're up against a well-oiled machine here, but pressure and intent is fantastic.

Could have been worse, umpires had a huge quarter.

Made a bit of a difference in the last ten minutes when they stopped giving crows frees.

Incorrect disposal will not apply for Crows all night. The free against Tyson however - simply gobsmacking.

All have been poor and need to lift, and if they do we will win.  If they dont they should all be dropped for letting us down so badly.

Harsh on Watts. Hes been tripled team up forward. Good on him for giving Tyson a spray too!

Hannan and Wagner have been rubbish.

10 point down at half time?  We'll take it.

If you take away those first 10 minutes of the second term where they kicked 5 on the trot, we've been the better side.  Our attack and pressure on the ball has been good and we've forced them in to turnovers which has frustrated them.  We aren't giving them a run at the footy and they don't really know what to do about it.

We need to come out far more switched on than we did in the second term, though.  Lots to like about the first half.

Problem is Wise, we dont get to take out the bits we dont like. If we actually could we would never lose.

Nice fightback though.

Been a big Tyson supporter but far out his disposal is horrible. Whats happened to him??

Kent needs to pull his finger out!  As for Omac and TMac has anyone ever seen a more clumsy pair of footballers at this level? It's embarrassing to watch TMac, his craft is abysmal ....how many years has been at this level?  Captain turnover!

Great to see us arrest momentum inside a quarter. This game is there for the taking if we come out fired up and take our chances in the third. Hibberd and Lewis are such great additions to our side. Tyson is seriously out of form (or maybe not as good as we hoped) and Kent and Hannan need to show some desperation. I would be happy if one of them just tagged Laird all second half and ignored the ball. I would be playing CP in the middle at every opportunity and rest him forward, he makes a massive difference when in there. I cant wait until he has 2 more preseasons and can do it for most of the game.

Bloody hell Hibberd was a great pickup.

Agree, back line is starting to look ok. Forward line... Not so sure

We have the usual pack to cover the negatives, ding.  I'll pick out the positives, and in this case there were plenty.

And lost by 38 after being 51 down with minutes to play

You missed my point. I said in an earlier post that if we played like that in the first quarter we would have beaten the Hawks.

You realise it's 4 forwards to 6 defenders right? They haven't even had a one on one. Watts, Kent and Weid will be lucky to kick one each tonight. Goody is going ultra defensive.

Looking on from afar - Loutro in Crete

Have balked at the AFL's 17 euro to watch the game. May pay up at 3/4 time.

Returned from lunch to see we were 2 points down - somewhat chuffed.

The Crows had 6 of the next 7 scoring shots for 4 goals. We then had something like 5 of the next 6 for 4 goals.

A few questions

a) is Tmac off injured? What for

b) who is rucking?

c) is Watts permanently forward

d) are any of our left-footers (other than Lewis) using their right foot -Viney, Tyson?

e) has Weed shown anything?

Appreciate the D'land commentary. May try to get radio commentary - I'm on an Airbook.

Im with big Red. We looked good when Petracca was moved into the midfield that QTR.

Our pressure is immense. Where the [censored] has it been all year though??

Really like the way Bugg has gone so far. The 1 in 5 good games he play remind you why he's managed 80 odd games when you're left wondering for the other 4.

We are doing well so far, but seriously why are we playing TMac, OMac, Frost, Hibberd & Wagner???

That's 3 tall defenders and 2 medium/tall defenders. Stretch should be in instead of Wagner to provide extra run in the midfield.

Just dumb selections.

Not sure if Ricciuto or Slobbo.

Ricciuto is right up there with Brian Taylor when it come to commentating.

Cant stand him and he should be commentating.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
