Maxy was just on Ch 7 News and says could be back next week for the Bulldogs game :)

With a completely straight face Max said: "I trained on Saturday with the boys and was best on, so if I keep that form going, I should be all right." Only Max could conjure up a BOG at training to push his case!!

Great to see that Joel Smith is only a couple of weeks away. He was incredibly unlucky to be injured in the opening quarter of his debut and deserves another shot provided a spot opens up.

I kinda threw up a little bit seeing Hogan as 4-6! They could've made it anything else. Hell make it indefinite! But not 4-6!

Jesse Hogan is dealing with cancer and not some ordinary soft tissue injury. The situation has to be dealt with sensibly and with due sensitivity. This involves dealing not only with the physical but with the psychological side of things that often demands patience and time. In that regard, the timeline has come down from "indefinite" to 4 - 6 weeks and as fans, we should be accepting of that.

Jonesy rest up brother were gonna need you at the pointy end. It may not seem like it but its a blessing in disguise for you to launch into the finals fresh as a daisy.

In other and better news Gawny is a definite for this week, while it looks like Watts, Jetta and Hunt should all be fine for the West Coast game.  Watts will need to pass a fitness test on Thursday, although Misson did say he had pulled up very well from the weekend.

Hibberd also in doubt I understand.

"Sore" apparently.

It's a quad strain.

How does Josh Kennedy blow up his leg and miss 2-3 and our soft tissues miss 4-6?

It's almost every time too. Gawn was a standard 4 week string...of course it then ends up being 12!

Hibberd not even mentioned as a test in the injury list

WTF. I have started to enjoy footy again.

Jones out 4-6 weeks.

Watts doubtful.

Hibberd pulled up sore and in doubt this week.

Stretch and JKH on the plane as standbys this week.

Thank god big Max is back.

Would be good to see trenners at least as emergency

Not only an opportunity for our mids to get creative with covering Jones loss and learning for the long term, but also an opportunity for Jack Viney to captain the club in a very important part of the year with big Max to offer additional ruck and leadership support. Will hold him/us in good stead long term

While we seem to have tamed Etihad and won 3 of 4 games this year, it is still taking an almighty toll on our players.

The soft tissue injuries to our most valuable players (Gawn/Jones) happened there.

That ground is costing us big time!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
