Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Sorry Nasher they were totally different. The Weid one was a great scoop off the turf. The Smith one was phenominal. He fended off Smith with one hand and plucked up the ball with the other (Koutafidis like) - in one motion. Both great pieces of play but not similar IMO. The Smith one was perhaps the best piece of brilliance I have ever seen in a 1st year player.

Fair enough - probably a crud comparison in hindsight. I suppose my point is that it appears to be a regular feature in his game - most players would have done that about zero times in their careers.

What a transformation in body shape. First picture is from the same year he was drafted. From looking like stewy dew to this today.

And still no mouthguard, nor did he seem to be wearing one on Saturday.

The other great thing about his handball to Jones is that when Ross tackles him, he makes sure he takes Newnes (#16) to the ground with him. Newnes is closest to Jones and the only one with any hope of tackling him. That's why Jones had that extra second to steady.

I think most of us picked this up too, except the bloody commentators or any other media pundits this week. It really was one of the classiest things I've seen from a Melbourne player in a long, long time.

This kids upside is huge.

Given that he wasn't in the representative system (U18's - Vic Country program) and was a late comer to the TAC program, his scope for continual improvement as he gets used to the full on footy environment is mighty tantalising.

As he improves on his fitness and tank, his impact on the contest will continue to improve (staggering for a kid who gathered 36 possessions in just his 14th AFL game).

I've noticed that some mouthguards are transparent rather than white or coloured so he might be wearing one.

Remove Daisy...Bad Call. Disrespectful call.

If Oliver continues to earn his stripes, just add him...no need to remove anyone - unless you were making some other pointed point...

Horrible call.....Neanderthal call...18th century call.....

The amount of interest the womens game has attracted is spectacular. My daughter has played Aussies rules for two years now and the leagues have exploded over the past 12 months with influxes of both players and new teams. This will translate into more females watching the sport at its highest level both the men and womens comps.

As you mentioned, Daisy is arguably the most marketable face in womens football ( along with Erin P) and we should be embracing it.

Was not talking about off the tree was talking about one to eat,  a bit like the way he pick players, using high picks for players that would still have been there with much later picks,  cook and gysbits would still have been still in their drafts after pick 40

How slick was your canteen lady at handpassing the sausage rolls?

SBF you should know that one cannot handpass a sausage roll, that would be a point, or a rushed behind. She could handpass a custard tart over her shoulder, blindfolded, under water, with a mouth full off marbles, over a giraffe, through a key hole and land it in my lunch box , fair dinkum she was good Clarrie's mum.

Clarry wears a mouthguard,

Had a close look at the 'modern' one the other day, completely different to my day, was transparent as well

But remember the bigger the teeth the bigger the mouthguard, and in these days of the perfect cosmetically enhanced smile, why some players still look like they have half a tyre in their gob

If I was the Saints coach I would also be giving Hickey a bake - even though Watts didn't really get much of a hand on the ball, to allow a second string ruckman ( shorter and lighter) to out body him, get front position and thereby allowing the ball to spill out the back was poor. Hickey had one job and that was to get the ball defensively to the front of the pack.

Agree but also let give jack the credit for getting front position. On on the couch they were talking about the likelihood of teams only having the one ruck man and Jackson Trengove  being the new model of the second ruck - a mobile, versatile player who plays forward but can be an on baller as well. Funny because Jack was really the first to play that role last year (a Goodwin innovation?)

The other thing to notice in the clip is where are all the Melbourne players, a setup that resulted in a goal

Im not so sure. We were massivly outnumbered around that stoppage and with watts in the ruck and it took that bit of brilliance and desire from Oliver to set up that goal. I would suspect that goodwin might look at that in the review and say great effort from Watts, Oliver and Jones but where was everyone else? We are meant to be controling clearances with numbers at the ball arnt we?

Maybe they are happy to have more on the outside in a forward 50 stoppage scenario but if Hickey had won the hitout as he probably should have, they would have had an uncontested rebound 50. Im not trying to be negative because it was a great sequence but at the same time I would like them to just ask the question of each other, we cant hope to have that work against the best sides.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
