I have just rewatched his highlights (insomnia)! If he can bring similar style tomorrow then it will be an exciting game and very watchable! To me, he appears a fusion of Hunt and Howe in the way he backs himself and he will quickly become a fan favourite and a headache for opposition coaches identifying someone to line up on him.

A good selection IMHO and I am looking forward to watching him and Hunt tear the Saints up! Go Dees!

These were my thoughts two months ago before his first game, comparing him with Howe in the air and Hunt on the ground. After the last fortnight, I would like to add a touch of Garlett to the mix, (in relation to his quick thinking around the goals). A very good use of pick 46 IMHO!

Isn't the "H" in "IMHO" for "Humble"?

His pressure is incredible as well, if we can get the back to ground in our fwd with him and Jeffy prowling around defenders must be chitting themselves.

Saad, a good player, looked absolutely shattered by the end last night.

I think his field kicking goes underrated here. Always seems to use the ball cleaning and lowers his eyes. He has had a few midfield stints which I was impressed with, would like to see him more in the centre around stoppages.

Yes, he did Cards. Jeffy, when given the right conditions, firm underfoot, is very dangerous. Jeffy is a naturally shy type of guy and is a confidence player. Once that self belief clicks into gear he goes up a notch. He and Hannan complement each other very well.

Hannan has that balance of an elite player. Not saying he is elite, or will be, but it is a great trait to have - the ability to keep his feet when others around him don't.

Many many years ago Alan Jeans was asked what attribute he most looked for in a player and his answer was "balance"!   Fair call I reckon.

He is as dangerous as Jeffry on the ground and probably the best in the air of all our forwards. He is a special talent

Would be stiff not to get a Rising Star nod very soon

(Edit: I didn't check his eligibility, probs not eligible due to age?)

Looking fwd to Mitch getting a full AFL preseason under his belt.

Makes an impact on the contest that belies his status as a mid-sized forward. He's effectively had to play as a key forward and has done very, very well. We have the makings of a very dangerous forward six now with versatility in spades.

With Max and Hogan back, I'd love to see something like this, with Trac rotating through the middle and the forward line:

Garlett   Hogan   Pedersen

Hannan  Watts    Harmes

Sort of underrated player who bobs up in the last quarter of a final and kicks 3 goals to win the game, while the opposition worries about Hogan, Watts and Petracca.

Looks a natural footballer.

He's had a very good month of footy. Nine goals in his last four games.

Mitch has some x factor to go with his talent (a quality that can separate the top forward lines from the rest), and he's becoming harder to match up on as he becomes more comfortable at the level.  I have a hunch that he might become even more dangerous when Jesse returns and is up and firing.  A tantalising prospect imo.

Maybe im influenced by his history with the Dogs VFL side, but he reminds me of a plucky Jake Stringer. His strength and aerial capabilities, and ability to get into the right spot and make a snap decision and execute. Listening to his interview the other week, he's an intelligent well spoken guy that doesn't answer in cliches, probably goes some way to explaining why he can read the play well enough to get into the right positions and contest at an effort level that does not put his position in the team in jeopardy .

Based on the fact that he was selected for round 1 when almost none of us expected it, the FD obviously saw something special in him. Well FMD they seem to know what they're doing.

It just takes them a half of football to get it right.

I was slow to like this fella, didn't bag him, but was wondering, not anymore.

A final?  What is that?

Is it what happens in September when we are up at the lodge at Buller? ?

Jokes aside, he is an opportunist who opponents will lose sight of for just a moment, at their peril

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
