I think the mods here are 'offensive coordinators' keeping some of the shite people post here at a moderately offensive level.

Lets see what he brings.  These days, great communicators and teachers seem to be highly valued.

Good to see the Club get on with evolving the coaching team under Goodwin.

OK so on the website Daniel Macpherson is listed as the Forward Line Coach in the coaches section but is  the Senior Development Coach in the Staff section which also has McCartney's updated position correctly listed. But Matthew Egan has been appointed the Head of Development. Does that mean he's replaced Macpherson or is now his boss. Which would be strange as he's much younger.  If it's a new role does that mean we need a Forward Line Coach but I wouldn't have thought that's an offensice coordinator.

So anyone know what his role actually is?

OK, I've done some research and found some Chaplin offensive coordinator moves. Jesse, Jack and Sam watch out.

Here is Chaplin teaching a few spuds some offensive coordination. Not suggesting we have any spuds in our forward line. If he can get Jesse to master that kicking style he'll be a success straight away.

I am in the running to be the new MFC, Coaches and Players Liaison and Communications Performance of Personnel Enhancement Co Ordinator.

CPLCPPEC.  Great acronym.  You'll need a fair size business card to accommodate the moniker

Offensive Coordinator? I'm sure he will run our o-line well....

Waiting for Brett Kirk to be appointed our new Special Teams coordinator...

Correct me if i am wrong but the current coaching group is now

Simon Goodwin - Senior Coach

Craig Jennings - Education coordinator

Brendan McCartney- Player and coach performance coordinator

Mathew Egan - Head of development

Jade Rawlings - Defensive coordinator

Dan Mcpherson - i thought he was offensive coordinator?

Ben Mathews - Midfield & Stoppage coach

Greg Stafford - Ruck coach

Troy Chaplin - Offensive coordinator

Looks a very strong group to me, four coaches who have coached their own team.

And who will fill what is a very important role, Jesse Hogan kicking coach?  If Ox still has his heart in MFC still he would do better filling this role than just slagging off about Jesse's kicking.

Jade Rawlings job over the summer is to come up with a play that works for us when we have to kick out when the opp kicks a behind. We struggle with this and kicking it to your self then kicking it long near the boundary to our ruckman doesn't always work.

Why change this, we've been doing the same thing for the last 20 years and whilst it's never worked, we are really good at it.

I am not a fan of huge coaching groups, and hopefully we will see a day when there are only five: head coach, development coach, forward, mids, backs. I understand the need for an older mature head but I can't understand why that can't be the devlopment coach. From my limited insight gained only from reading various things, Chaplin is respected and has always been touted as a coach, I am just unconvinced we need to pay someone good coin to coordinate the forwards, alongside the forward coach.

Maybe his role includes a new emphasais on sledging - so when our boys have a go at a galumphing dick like Brendon Goddard or Heath Shaw, it will be pre-organsied and really effective.

5 coaches for 1 team and 45 pro athletes?

Yep. In terms of leadership and influence, one person can immediately and personally impact 8-10 people, so the numbers stack up.

We should at least lead the league in finger pointing this season.

Not really a make or break appointment. Good luck to him (and to us) as he sets out on this new path.

I like the title.  Footy isn't made up of a forward line a backline and a midfield, it's made up of "we have the ball" "they have the ball" and "the ball is contested (stoppages)". It makes sense the coaches develop game plans in this fashion too. It is forward thinking coaching.  I like it.

watching the bulldogs through the finals, we need a defensive offensive coach too.... or maybe an offensive defensive? I'm not sure now.

What we need is to be able to replace the injured and the non-performers with guys who perform and take ownership. I spoke to a Bulldog man early in the year telling him how impressive I found the style of play of his team. He shook his head and said, Too many injuries, we're like a pigeon, flucked.

Well, there you go. The Demon problem for years is that every time we needed to make a change, in came M.Jones, Mckenzie,Grimes, post-injuryTrengove, Michie, Maxwell Newton, Spencer Street, etc etc, or,  another dude from the merry go round of duds.

chappy was always a very good 'pointer' throughout his career.

however, i'll personally never forget the time he was out-bodied by brandon matera to allow gc17 a key goal, helping them towards winning their first ever game in the afl.

Great, but who's going to replace Tammy as Meditation and Wellness coordinator?

Derryn Hinch. Managed to meditate through his first Senate sitting, fast asleep.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
