Daw - with Waite going down, will likely play finals this year and take Petrie's spot in the North side in 2017

Vickery - free agent who is a tall forward who gets it 6 times a game and is a lovely kick but can't ruck effectively

Holmes - an American who is another failed experiment at breeding a non-footballer into one

 

Daw gets my vote of the three, but would rather not have any.

I think everyone has the same fantasy about a ruck/forward clunking marks and kicking bags every game and then filling in for the ruck. But it never really happens at any club. Rarely anyway.

Yes, but if Gawn gets an injury, I think Pencil is the most likely back-up we have on hand at the moment - I don't think Dawes, Peddo or Watts could ever ruck out whole games.

Neither of which he is really any good at. Vickery is not the answer to any deficiency we (may not even) have.

Would Vickery be worth a year if he was used as a tactical pinch hitter that could play around 6 to 8 games and kick 10-15 goals ? Seems like more of a list contribution than having players in the VFL all year. Prefer an injury free dud than an injury riddled dud

No he isn't very good at either, but neither was Jack Watts 3 years ago.

 

I just think we could find a place and do worse than have him as a back up in the VFL.

I've never seen him disgrace himself at AFL level though.

When he plays he is serviceable, and his second efforts and physicality are first rate. Sure he has limitations but if Gawn ever gets rested,  Spencil would come in and give us a contest at the very least.

Would much rather aim higher and go for GWS' Rory Lobb. Contested marking marking and can do a decent job in the ruck. Out of contract in 2017, so we'd have to pay a fair bit to get him.

Like it or not Daw has potential. 

Im happy to wait until Daws career is over we compare them.

 

I'll give you a clue, Grimes has captained an AFL club and Daw is a reserve grade player at best.
