One of the worst games I have ever seen, Watts best and second best and third best.

Just a poor effort by our senior players and I can see some changes next week.

Don't care how many possessions he had, the skipper was terrible today, fortunately for him Bernie was a lot worse. WTF is going on with Hogan, he was really ineffectual today and he needs to work out if he wants to play with us or not.

Oscar was ok today and Frost shows a bit, he will get better.  Hunt gives it everything and Billy was one of our best.

We looked out of sorts today and as if we didn't want to be there.

No was ok till just before half time when he banged his knee into the post.Kicking was atrocious though

Well at least I'll be able to say to my Collingwood , Essendon and Richmond supporting colleagues tomorrow, " good teams find a way to win" with only the slightest touch of irony.

Winners are grinners people. Let's enjoy the win.

Ps umpires are maggots and for them to appear to make a correct decision is a shock, like finding a $ 100. 00 note lying on the ground in Bourke St. Respect umpires ????? How about nooooooooooo !!!!!

Stretch and Watts were the only composed footballers in the team today.

I lost count of how many times I lost my [censored] today.

Just a horrible, horrible game of football to witness.

How many times do we try to pinpoint a pass in the corridor and either: fark it up or, put the receiving player under pressure. Harmes took a great mark under enpormous pressure but Tyson should never have attempted to kick it to him. Drives me spare how many times we did that.

First quarter clusterf arks were incredible. TMac turnovers, matt Jones missing his target when 3m clear of anybody, Wagner, OMac. Lost cont of the number of times we went into a contest with 3 or 4 players and the ball would pop out to a GC player.

Up there with the worst and most frustrating game of football I have seen. Why do they try the impossible instead of gaining territory and kicking down the line? My God some of our players have no brains.

Not before time did VdB play a reasonable game. Was very solid today after showing little all year.

One of the worst games of football I have watched in a long time.

our ability to execute basic skills, even with no pressure, was unacceptable.

We relied on individual efforts to bust us out of our stupidity all over the ground, for the whole game.

we looked slow and disinterested for 80% of the game.

our ability to enter 50 has to be the worst in the competition.  Over and over we would kick to a 3 on 1, or a Suns player by themselves.  Zero intellect applied to getting into a scoring position.

the game plan was there, we were too crap to execute it.

will take the 4 points, but couldn't sing the song.  Need a big turnaround or we will be smashed next week.

Predictably melodramatic responses on here. Firstly, we got the 4 points. Secondly, our improvement is not measured on two hours of footy (which was good enough to win), it's based on 22 weeks. Given that's now our 8th win and our percentage is STILL over 100, I'd say the improvement is obvious.

It was probably the worst two hours of footy of the year though. Positives apart from Juggernaut Watts were Hunt, Frost doing a good impression of Hunt and OMac standing up.

I honestly don't care if Tom McDonald goes. We'll miss him as much as Howe and be laughing at his turnovers in red and white if he does.

In fairness to Hogan he really banged his knee hard and was finding it hard to get moving. Before that he was very good and very mobile - ensuring they couldn't get 2 men up in our forward line marking contest by dragging May up the ground. May even acknowledged this at half time on FOX in an interview.

After that he could barely move and so stayed put in the forward 30 and still dragged 2 defenders with him.

Sometimes you've got to do what the teams need. I just wish so called 'experts' like Danny Frawley on Fox who said that Hogan was clearly beaten. I'd think the coaching staff would be happy with him - and disappointed in the team to work around it and find other avenues to goal.

What was with the 50m penalty they awarded and then dragged the player back to the original position?

Ump called play on, then blew whistle for a 50. Another ump came in and overruled him, telling him due to the play on the free had to be a down field, so ball went back

The game plan appeared to be: hand pass frequently, especially to players about to be tackled, kick across the ground at all costs (or backwards), then bomb it into the fifty in a random fashion without picking a player to kick it to. Fumble at all costs, drop as many marks as you can.

Pathetic, anyone who thinks there were positives out of this game needs their head checked.

I have serious concerns about our coaching going forward. Our structure and inability to carry out the most simple of football decisions afrer almost three years is frightening.

I haven't seen the game so I'm not necessarily saying this based on today's performance, but I think we should make the Carlton game Roos's last game as coach and give Goodwin the reigns for the last game.

Not much to lose from it and we get to see Roos off at the G. I'd just like to see what he's got before next year.

We should have been having a shot at goal to go 8 points up with 1:38 left

But once again the MAGGOTS have failed to do their job and failed to pay the most basic decision ever. [censored] clowns.

Worst decision of the year. Watch the maggots spin that one away....

Apart from the 4 points, what a terrible day for supporters.  Perfect weather, no reason for such putrid decision and skills.

Vince has put in some great games wearing the Jumper, but he also goes off the radar too much lately.  Was a very bad display of AFL football and frankly I am sick of the team over using the ball.  When are the coaches going to coach this out of them?

Absolute stinker of a game and really hope this team under Goodwin starts making the MCG our fortress.  Surely there are better options than Dawes....he totally stuffs up our forward structure.

Lucky we won....otherwise the melodramatic responses as u put it would be in meltdown.  It was 2 points against a team missing most of their midfield.  If we had lost, media would be killing us for lack of improvement.  We got lucky today, it was a absolute garbage to watch.

And what's with the umpire obviously coaching Lynch not to run off the mark for the shot after the siren.

Let him make the mistake. It's none of their business.

We can thank the sturdy hands of Dawes, the hunger of Watts and the wisdom of the selectors choosing VDB.

The kick to handball number and ratio today are roughly the same as the Bulldogs on Friday night so it is not as though the number in itself is a problem.

Clearly though we are inept at using handball to release a player and in fact tend towards the opposite result of handballing to a player in a worse position.

This is clearly a coaching issue which should have been rectified weeks if not months ago.

Yes but my point is that people get too caught up with one game and its relevance. It was absolutely horrendous yes but what of the previous 18 games? Do they get forgotten instantly or something?

I can recall Harmes hitting two targets all day. The Harmes off half back experiment is too costly. His kicking and decision-making are disgusting.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
