Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 16

Given the heat and the relative numbers of experienced players in the teams anyone who complains that we didn't bury them is misguided.  Sure it would have been nice to, but realistically it was never on.  An ugly win against a Lyon team is all one could expect

Expect changes next week....Oliver for one would add freshness and intensity.

Any news on Oscar's injury?

Other injuries?

Quality from the AFL website post-match:

MEDICAL ROOM
Melbourne: Midfielder Dom Tyson required his head to be taped up following a collision with teammate Ben Kennedy in the second term, but played out the game without any problems.

Fremantle: The Dockers appeared to get through the loss unscathed.

INJURIES
Melbourne: Nil
Fremantle: Nil

Completely ignores that Bernie played the game on one leg, OMac missed 1/3 of the game, and Mundy missed the last 1/4.

Decent win in trying conditions. If we kicked 15 goals instead of 15 points it'd be a better reflection on the way the game was played.

Jesse wouldn't be thrilled by what he saw by Freo.

Tracca started stalking around the ball and looked dangerous. Needs to maintain his focus when he has the ball as his skills are better than he showed.

Watts is a star. I'm so bloody glad to be typing that! ;)

Good teams know how to maintain tempo and grind out wins. We knocked them out early when it mattered. To get back into it, the Dockers would need to play some pretty slick footy. With the weather the way it was and the players' energy level low, it was going to be an ask.
Also, the Dockers aren't the team of 2012-2015 but they were never just going to lay down. They have a lot of proud veterans in there who weren't just going to get humiliated.
In the end, not bad. Areas to work on but most games contain that. Let's hope we can roll the 'Aints at Etihad next week.

I actually like the line "The Dockers appeared to get through the loss unscathed." (Apart from y'know...losing of course).

I would hope we lace the team with at least 3 or 4 changes for next week to offset the fatigue factor. Oliver in is a must.

Very frustrating that Casey had a bye this weekend; another week of match fitness in the VFL for Brayshaw and he might've been good to go for next week, too.

One of those games where we take it and move on to next week.

To a loss, because we are stuffed from this game and we can't play at Etihad or beat St Kilda.

On the plus side, we finally beat a team coached by that smug boring arsewipe Lyon.

There was something wrong with Mundy though.

Typical Roos style game - get in front and then lock it down OR that could have possibly come from Lyon - get behind and then limit the damage. Either way when the game was open we were much cleaner and won a lot more of the ball.

Watching on TV:

- Loved Tyson's game, he seemed to adjust to what we all wanted him to do - be the extractor and handball when under pressure but kick when he had space - didn't get caught today that I remembered.

- Backline was very good, loved White's work - reminds me a lot of Anthony Ingerson (might just be the glove?)

- The run off the half back line is where it all starts - the linking handballs and run towards a moving forward line create huge problems for the defense.

- Great to get the W in Darwin and against the Dockers - now let's kill next weeks challenge

Jesse Hogan. We're almost taking him for granted. Second year of senior football. It's incredible.

Youngest team in the comp with Brayshaw, Oliver, Salem and Weideman still to come in. So much improvement left in this mob.

Missed game due to family reasons,

more information on White please....

What he did well?

What he didn't do?

Disposal?

Does he hold his spot?

cheers

He was good defensively. Took some good marks.

His ball use is dodgy, especially by foot.

Will definitely play next week especially with Oscar likely to miss with an ankle injury.

To the muppets in the game day thread who called an end to Grimes' AFL career after his first three touches, I hope you enjoyed the next 29 after that.

I was one that voiced my concern at his output for that quarter and he'd want to show more to have a chance of playing again next week. Interestingly I think he would have been the only player on the ground that seemed to get better as the game went on. Well done to him.

You generally get better with time when you haven't played all year and it's your first game back.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
