Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 16

We dominated them all over the ground for 2.5 quarters and then again for much of the last. The margin flattered them, if this was at the G/not in tropical conditions we would've murdered them by 70-80 points (similar to GC game).

Hogan was awesome as were Hunt and Watts early too (he faded a bit in the second half). Viney never stopped running that kid is a machine.

With 7 rounds left, four Demons (Hogan, Watts, Kent, Garlett) have already kicked 20+ goals, first time since 2011 (Jurrah, Green, Sylvia, Watts) thats happened.

If Kent and Garlett can get to 30, it will be the first time since 2006 (Robbo, Davey, Yze, Neitz) Melbourne has four players kick 30+ goals in the same season.

Dermott  referred to someone as a "progress in work".

Brain damage .

Dermott also referred to Big Max, " you have to remember when Max is just standing on the ground and gets a tap out, hes still tapping from 207cm" Well actually Derm if hes standing on the ground and tapping, then presumably his arm is most likely above his head, which would make it easily 327+, but anyway.. ..keep that part time Meth lab going Derm..

Personally i think that was our best win for the season if you take all the factors into account that in the past would have seen us do an old Melb and turn our toes up. And or where we were truly up against it based on past records/statistics (not just by our club). Yes i thought it would happen this time around also but was very pleased to see myself proven wrong and the boys have a solid win.

Factors that were or should have gone against us (Either being MFC or just based on what is/was AFL folklore/history)...

  • Expected to win / Favorites Tag
  • Playing away from the G
  • Playing interstate (although at a neutral ground of course so not technically an away game)
  • A club we haven't beaten for quite some time and since the horror years (2008 onwards?) since 2011 i think.
  • Behind the eight ball big time in terms of average games experience 65.7 v 108.6  ... Freo nearly two seasons ahead here.
  • Behind the eight ball in top end experience. 9 v 4 one hundred plus gamers and 18 v 13 with less than 100 games. 11 players with under 50 games would usually result in a loss (statistically it is said once you have over 9/10 or more you will struggle to win (more than not) if the opposition has about 8 or less).
  • We were challenged by a reasonably seasoned Freo with plenty of finals experience in the 3rd and held our ground to maintain a solid lead for a convincing win.
  • We didn't play a mediocre or poor team (form wise) into form!

I like that we no longer bring in young who aren't ready. We now have some depth and our younger kids are learning the game and coming in with some size. White is a good example. I thought he was very good in only his second game. No deer in headlights moments.

Has Hunt got a Rising Star nomination yet? 29 disposals, 8 inside 50s, and showed great run off Half Back.

Not many people mentioned Kent in this thread but I think he took another big step forward in that game. we'really pulling together a really potent forward line.

Kent played well but I want to see him play good games when the team gets beaten. He goes missing badly in our losses.

Controlled the game well. Poor kicking for goal stopped it being a bigger win.

Correct jnr and that is one reason why we lose to the better sides. I want to see him play well against the better sides. We know he can do it against the bottom teams but doing it against the better sides is the difference between being an ok player and a good player.

IMO right now he is Ok.

Yep, exactly. He's a bit of a downhill skier.

Although we've been through a period where we haven't had any skiers at all, downhill or otherwise. So it's an improvement.

Maybe he's that important that whenever he plays poorly, we do.

Clean sweep on the Coaches Votes:

  • 9 Jack Watts (Melb)
  • 7 Max Gawn (Melb)
  • 7 Jesse Hogan (Melb)
  • 5 Jack Viney (Melb)
  • 2 Tom McDonald (Melb)

And, three nominees for Team of The Week:

  • Tom Mc
  • Jesse
  • Viney

Maxy could have easily been a 4th but pippled by Grundy.

Its great to see us featuring in the top players in voting and each week.  Delighted to see Jack start to get some real recognition.

Might take an interest in Brownlow night this year to see how our guys go,

Just watched the "all the goals" segment on the MFC website.  It's pretty telling when it's only 5 minute video, but at the 2:45 mark you're still in the first quarter.  I remember thinking at half time that with slippery conditions and stuffed players, the game was over at half time - in reflection it was probably over at quarter time.  The way we started was so important.

JW got 7 last week too i think. You'd have to think he'll do ok in the bluey this year.

Spot on Nasher - the first quarter was critical and JW was a big factor in our hot start. However he was also involved in a couple of goals that helped keep Freo at arms's length after that. His kick to Hogan where he rag dolled Dawson was a beauty. Looked easy enough but so few of players seem to have that ability to put a kick to a forward's advantage - either weighting it correctly so they can run onto it or putting them in the gun position in a one on one like he did for Hogan. Off one step too.

On the conditions it was interesting to hear one of the players compare it to wet weather game in terms of how slippery it was.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
