Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

N.Jones - another outstanding game

Vince - not as prolific

Hogan - rarely provided target

Tyson - take first options!!!!

Stretch - couldn't hurt opponents

Kent - frustrating as hell

Frost - had little input

T. McDonald - strong and brave

O.McDonald - embarrassing to watch

Hunt - exciting and willing

Bugg - was almost irrelevant

Kennedy - tried but failed

Garlett - a welcome return

vandenBerg - continued poor form

Jetta - brave and creative

Harmes - prolific but wasteful

M.Jones - great first half

VandenBerg is one of my favourites, but he needs a spell in the 2's.

Dawes was nothing short of woeful.

I might be in the minority, but I thought VDB got better as the game wore on.  It was good to see him getting a longer stint through the middle, where he is at his best, and had 17 touches to go with 8 tackles.  Needs to kick it a bit more and make sure he takes the right option, but he was better than others today and seemed to grow in confidence in the second half.

I am honestly surprised he had that many. I rarely noticed him. As I said, I like him, and I just feel he is still working his way back from injury, whether that is in the 1's or 2's.

Not sure about the Stretch review.

He is developing with every game that he plays. He makes the right decisions with the footy and he has the skills to execute.

Stretch and VDB were good.

There was a Hogan error after a 150M sprint.

There were some defensive errors by Jetta TBH but he got better.

The midfield switched off in Q3 at the start.

Dawes was the only liability.

I was very critical of VDB at 1/2 time. Watched him closely in the 3rd when he moved into the middle and he was great.

Hopefully he continues that form next week.

I like VDB for all the defensive things he brings to the game but im concerned about his ceiling. His decision making and kicking is still poor and is costly at key times. Its a shame because with his speed and power he could be incredibly damaging

Was our last line contested marker and prevented many goals.

Ok I was at the game and counted 6 Turnovers at least of which 3 cost us goals . Add to the fact that Walker was his direct opponent and contributed another 3 Means he effectively cost us 6 goals!

1 He still STILL refuses to man up

2 He still STILL refuses to acknowledge much less do anything about his prime directive! To stop goals

3 He will take some contested marks but he still hasn't worked out that he needs to take some acountability for when to punch and when to mark. One such example was in the first q when he could have taken an easy Mark but elected to Punch instead! Result Crows Goal

4 Loves to be unacountable and opportunistic across Half Back , poblem is when he gets it tries to be cute and be becomes Laksadaisical ( have In spelt that right)? and more often than not thinks he has more time than he actually has and then ....... Duds a handball or Kick which puts the reciever under pressure!

AND he's been doing it for years! His 10 Marks today are a facade to the impact he has when he gifts goals!!

Let him go ,trade for a better option!

And Oh, take ur brother with you, dropping chest marks in front of goal and wandering around like a new born giraffe is no longer tolerable at the MFC!

Hogan kick 3 goals, had 18 disposals. His ability to push up and influence the play is unparalleled for such an inexperienced forward. The delivery to him is consistently poor: he demands contact and needs the ball long and deep to being it down. His teammates constantly kick it low and short, which understandably frustrates him.

To say he didn't provide a target is silly. We went to him almost every attack in the second quarter, and his presence alone helped bring the ball down and move towards goal.

Agree with everyone else. Although Jones, Vince and Dawes let us down in the leadership stakes at pivotal moments, particularly the last quarter

The bits I heard on the Radio, they were raving about his vision and the creative hand passes he gave off to create goals.

You're turning into a stalker.

BTW, was 11 marks. Also, 5 one percenters. The only players who did better were Jetta with 6 and your other whipping boy, Oscar with 7, the most of any player out there.

Played on one of the best forwards in the comp and broke even, even tho we go our arses handed to us on a platter in some of the centre clearances.
But hey, if he saved 90 kids from a burning building you'd still pot him for tripping over on the way out.

As for Nate Jones getting slammed, all I can say to you is shame. Shame on all of you. Yes he made disposal errors, but he is always under pressure, always the first on the bottom of every pack, and has carried this pathetic excuse of a team for so long. Show some respect!

I was at the game too, and I thought that TMac played a pretty good game.

I sometimes wonder if they've been told to play on at all cost? A lot of our errors come from a quick play on, even in defensive 50, and hand balling to someone under pressure.

Hunt- Dashing and Daring.

Gee I love this kids style and guts. So fast and fearless. I have stated a few weeks ago he reminds me of the great Don 'Dasher' Williams of the fabulous fifties. Like Donny he can mark as well as burn off his opponents. Williams style of play would have fitted into the modern game. I know old dee reckons I'm being a bit over the top in comparing Jayden with Don but GEE, this kid's got the lot. A real star of the future.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
