With Reiwoldt ang Montagna out I reckon it might be no change. The "stability" mantra.

Petracca may have to wait as it was our best performance in years.

Let him bag 6 or 7 at Casey first.

If it ain't broke.

Agree with that. Being in Casey's best players three weeks in a row isn't enough. He has to conquer suburbia first before making it to the bright lights of Broadway.

On the other hand, I reckon one of Rooey and Joey will play next week if not both.

6 day break, think both will struggle but I expect Riewoldt to play as he never seems to miss games against us and always dominates the bastard

Our weakness against Tiges was horrific unpressured turnovers across half back, not midfield or forward. Wagner will miss I reckon and Oliver will come in which means Bugg and Hunt at half back. Brayshaw's game was very fumbly but is Petracca the right replacement?

I hope they both play - let's see where we're at against a team at roughly the same stage as us.

Sorry, I think winning is more important for us at the moment than seeing where we are at.

You're probably right Sue. I'm just keen to see what our performances mean against teams that aren't in complete meltdown. Hopefully the North game is an accurate reflection of where we're at.

Hunt must stay in. Etihad is a fast track, Saints are very quick with their many young small forwards. Hunt is lightning, we will need his speed. Hard to tell perhaps last night but his speed, such as the 3rd man up spoil in Q3, is integral to our back half. Same as Lumumba.

he and Wagner look very good for the future. Much more composed than Grimes and Garland who they replaced.

oliver in for Brayshaw on form, ditto Petracca for Frost.

OUT: brayshaw, harmes

vince and viney might cop an unfair week which might save brayshaw.

Don't underestimate the tackling pressure that Harmes puts on & the common factor in each win...

Harmes is currently equal 3rd on our ladder of tackles (with Jetta, behind Bugg and the manic Viney). The club would be well aware of this and understand the value of it - it disappoints me when supporters don't.

He can also mark better than most of his size, and can kick a goal. His mistakes come from trying to operate at maximum intensity, not through slow or dumb footy. I reckon the coaches would love him.

I thought he was on the peripheral after round 1 but he has dug in since then. Won't be part of the "who do we leave out?" discussion this week.

I'd be fine with no change, I'd be fine with ANB, Oliver and Petracca in. There won't be 3 changes, let's just see who pulls up sore or who the coaches deem need a rest. My gut tells me Petracca/Oliver for Kennedy/Brayshaw. Poor ANB misses because we're covered for what he can bring rightnow

I think we have to trust our coaching staff who will know exactly who is sore, which workloads need to be monitored etc.

The best thing is that the names that are being touted as coming in aren't just the same old names trying to fill holes. We are genuinely looking at improving our team with exciting youngsters. I honestly can't see some of our big names in the seconds getting close to a game at present. And I think that the most pressure on his spot in the senior team is Neville Jetta, who still isn't strong enough in the contest and loses his feet too much,

Harmes also possesses a beautiful low flat pass to forwards which defenders have no chance of defending.

I disagree, we're winning so it seems that way but i am really not sure it's going that well, i think between the two of Frost and Pedo they're doing what we'd hope one would do, Pedo strong contested marks, Frost speed and pressure.

Watts' good form is really making the forward line look a lot better than it actually is at the minute.

Why is there a majority wanting Frost out?

Regarding Gus, he did seems nqr. If he is still not 100% i would like to see Petracca or ANB come in and replace him.

Like others have said, recovery will play a big part in who is left out.

When was the last time MFC had the issue of who to leave out to bring in players demanding a spot in the 22.

Would love to see Oliver, ANB, Petracca and Trengove come in, but it would be crazy and unfair for all 4 to come in.

Good luck Roos and co in selecting the 22.

I'd support no changes after a win like that.

The week before we had two unlucky players miss out after a great win, but I don't see any 'must haves' in the mold of Vince and Gartlett sitting in the twos at the moment.

Let them keep beating down the door while the team is performing so well.

Me too.  Why do we need to drop anyone?  We seem to have gotten the balance pretty right, and after a win like that those 22 deserve the opportunity to back it up and make it 3 in a row.

The only change I could see is Brayshaw going out for someone, which will either be Oliver or Petracca.  Other than that I think keeping some stability will be good.

The combination of the two would be the best 2nd ruck/forward in the game! I think the forward lines working well as the speed Frost, Watts and Kent bring to hit out to space opens gaps for others. But I also think at Etihad we aren't going to get that space and we'll need more marks inside 50 and link up play to score.

Watts plays well deep at the G in space, but I'd rather him up the ground at Etihad, which is where Frost has mostly been.

The best structure for horses for courses might be Frost out for Petracca if they are confident Petracca can give us enough forward pressure.

But if they stick with Frost I can understand it. Frost is another option to play on the wing when Riewoldt goes there. He could start in his defensive forward role then move up and do short stints on the wing against Riewoldt to stop him getting a mismatch.

Salem was tight in the hip/hammy late in the game. The 6 day break and given he was in the rehab group as it was might see him miss. Vince would go to half back and Matt Jones to a wing I'd imagine.

Just one to monitor if anyone gets to training.

I reckon there is a decent chance Roo won't play which helps! looked very sore after the game.

But i agree, Christian has to understand that while the team is winning it's going to be tough.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
