Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Reminds me of Nathan Brown...

Little fella with a bit of pace coming out of the backline. Mop of hair (early years)...

You are naturally inclined to underrate these blokes - but if you do a job and kick start a team off half back - you're value.

Dreadful Darls,

Nobody understands the hardships but you RTG.

It's easy for those country kids to throw their heads into danger(mostly like pumpkins anyway) but The Brighton Boys shouldn't have to do it.

I think we need to reserve judgement on this until we play a few teams in the eight. Apart from north, where we admittedly were unlucky, we have not been tested really. We already know that when the going gets tough eg Essendon and St Kilda, the first to go missing are our inexperienced players (Hunt, Wagner, Harmes and others). They have all been great in our victories, but largely missing in our defeats. I will be convinced when they are BOG in a really close games against a top 8 opponents. I am yet to see it.

One of the many things I like about Brayshaw, Hogan and Oliver is that the tougher it gets the better they are.

I don't want to pinch OD's Thunder, but I will pronounce our success when Wagner, Harmes, Kennedy, Hunt, and Salem show how good they are against top 4 opposition. It is way too early to get as carried away as we are on here at the moment.

No probs, OD.?  Just wasn't sure if you'd picked up some new-wave thinking in your overseas adventures ;)

Hunt has some great attributes. We haven't had a speedster since Davey I think so its good to have one that can take a grab and put pressure on.

Just watching the second half having watched the first half live last night.

I haven't seen pace like that off HB for ages, and unlike anothe well known senior runner off HB does not look like a headless chook.  Disposal is improving.

IMO offers more than H as well as being part of the future.

More than just a line-breaker which is what has surprised me most.

Has an appetite for the contest which I didn't know and also isn't afraid to fly for a mark.

Also quite composed in close and under pressure with ball in hand.

They're great signs, means the kid backs himself and is confident in his ability.

The only thing that may hold him back is his disposal by foot. Up and under when going forward and is clearly his weak-link.

No idea how much it can be improved. I think similarly to McDonald it's a technique thing more than a decision making thing.

Players like that can generally clean up mistakes and mask their technique flaws by making better decisions on where and to whom to kick to.

Hopefully he continues to play well, am enjoying his development.

I've been posting here since Nov 2002 in one guise or other and must have seen roughly 150 players come and go.  Some through retirement and others through trades or delistings.

I can hardly recall a player that's made me eat humble pie.  But plenty have had their bags packed.

You can back every dud that's ever been on our list.  I have no problem with that.

I won't.

Love it. I reckon we should all put our failed write offs in our avatars to the left, among our "favourite players" as a badge of dishonour. I've stuck my neck out on two guys who I said I was certain would be great footballers. Frawley and Trengove. Wrote off one guy ever, Jamar, who went on to AA the next year. lol This year I've added about 6 to the "I'm sure they'll be guns" list.

Back onto Hunt... I didn't see it at first (much like I needed a couple of weeks with Wagner) but I sure do now. Amazing lengthy stride...

We did that at the end of last year (from memory). I remember because I kicked it off. Can't recall the thread title.

His speed and preparedness to run the lines is incredibly important.  He'll become a genuine weapon down the track.

My Brother's future Brother-in-law is a well-known former player and head recruiter of an AFL club and said a few years ago that Hunt was considered as good if not better than Salem and another player whose name presently escapes me, but dropped off the radar while still at school due to injury.

He's definitely introduced himself nicely. Hopefully he works on his full pace bouncing as I think he nearly soiled himself on one of his gallops when he realised he needed a bounce, and must've had flashbacks to the previous weeks fumble. Not too worried about his kicking because runs like those give defenders almost no chance if your forwards work hard enough.

He'll be very important for us going forward.

Bump.

Mystery over?

Solid HBF with excellent attacking tendencies and a desire to get us moving in a forward direction?

700+ metres gained on the weekend against the Cats.

Good bump.

I'd upgrade 'solid' to 'electric'. Hunt is coming along very, very nicely.

This will upset a few around here, but i do not rate him and can't seeing him making it at all. Should have rookie listed him instead of Viv.

Imagine if we'd delisted Hunt and lost him before the rookie draft!

A fav moment

Ball comes clumsily out of defence.

Hunt takes it cleanly and off about 2 running steps slots it back through sticks fron just beyond 50!!

Bang

Thank your mum for the rabbits !!!

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
