Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The mystery of Jayden Hunt

Sam Blease had a poor attitude and work ethic. Not sure his case is a valid predictor of Jayden's chances.

Wasn't using Blease as a specific example like that, was using him as an example that having great pace isn't everything. If you go back to the original post I replied to you'll see the context.

Stuie you'll probably find this a bit difficult so concentrate.

This is a forum where many people read and participate.  If you only meant the comment for one person then sent them a PM.

I, like many others, are over you making the same point time and time and time and time again.  It's particularly frustrating because in the majority of cases it's not usually and interesting point to start with.

Some of us thought that Hunt being on the senior list was going to be a better proposition than Harmes.Due to ongoing injuries (HUNT) things didn't go according to plan and therefore Harmes progress surpassed Hunt. I totally beleive that Hunt like Kent will become a valuable senior player this year.

Any fool can see that comparing Blease with Hunt is ridiculous.

One apparently had a bad attitude, was given a number of senior games to get his act together and failed. The other has a good attitude according to the coaches and those that have talked to him and has been given another year to test his ability (hopefully) at senior level. Until Hunt gets a number of senior games, the comparison is void and simplistic.

Seems like some can't get over their MFCSS. Sad really.

After a little moderation, this topic has been reopened because I feel we're getting a little closer to solving the mystery I posed at its beginning.

That's not to suggest that Jayden is up there with the likes of Jack Viney, Christian Salem, Jesse Hogan, Angus Brayshaw, Clayton Oliver and Christian Petracca among our really outstanding young prospects for the future but he's inching closer by the week.

He and Billy Stretch are adding the pace and cleverness to the strength of those above and they give me some confidence and belief that we're not that far off the pace when it comes to thinking finals.

Many called for him to be rested last week but I was glad he got a chance to show his stuff again.

I may cop some stick for this but he reminds me of Robbie Flower.

His pace is electric,he often takes off for runs without knowing where he is going but he follows up his handballs and then there is his tackling, which is strong for his frame. His kicking is pretty decent also but not yet RF standard.Yet to see if he can mark as well as Robbie but give him time.

Geez hunt has wheels!! Main difference i see from speedsters in years gone by is that hunt can take a contested mark and is not afraid to try and win the footy.

His ceiling is unknown. Should be interesting to see how far he can develop.

You must never go hungry the amount of times you have had to do this in the last couple of years, hence why I don't do it, lean and mean

Said Hunt might surprise, just needed to get his body right and listen to McCartney, watched him as a junior, and a couple of games at Casey

He has been super impressive,I thought he should have been dropped this week after a poor game last week. Roos kept the faith and he put in a super game and proved me wrong. Still his first touch is not as clean as it could be but that will come with experience. Love him and Wagner in the back both take risks but never seem to panick.

Hunt is one I was always excited about as my brother has a little to do with Brighton Grammar and the talent was there. My problem is that I think some will be stars and aren't. I.e. Lucas Cook

In those preseason Best 22 threads, I had Hunt in by mid season, did not rate Harmes at all, and Wagner was way off. Things change quickly.

Also, if McCartney was here 5 years ago, Blease and Gysberts would have made it. They may have been lazy, but our development was tragically poor and I reckon we stuffed up a few careers.

They breed em tough down Church St Biffen. Early morning latte and croissants at the Pantry followed by a spot of buggery in the Cadets and finishing off with a walk on the dog beach with the schnoodle.

His speed and preparedness to run the lines is incredibly important.  He'll become a genuine weapon down the track.

My Brother's future Brother-in-law is a well-known former player and head recruiter of an AFL club and said a few years ago that Hunt was considered as good if not better than Salem and another player whose name presently escapes me, but dropped off the radar while still at school due to injury.

his pace is electric.

there's a moment just before 3/4 time where he zips btw 3 gc17 players and whilst his possession isn't the best - sideways handball to wagner, but impossible to see what options were presenting for him downfield on the telly - it's his pace and evasiveness that makes him a super tricky match-up.

very exciting.

Here he is, riding in on his pony to remind others that they're wrong.  Do you actually talk about the Dees, Saty, or just comment on other posters and their views?

And I'm certain, somewhere back in this thread, I questioned his worth going forward because, at the time, he hadn't shown us much since he was drafted.  I'm more than happy to take a slice of that humble pie dazzle is baking.  But humble has never been a word in your vocab, Saty.  At least others here have the ability to do it.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
