  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Just a general poll to see where the fans are positioned on terms of pick 3. I've obviously taken into account that Weitering and Schache will be taken at picks 1 and 2. Happy voting!

I actually have nfi, but voted Curnow because of his strong body (Roos type of player), his potential to play mid or strong marking forward to support Hogan (versatility = another Roos type) and the 'high ceiling / game changing qualities' that some 'experts' are touting on his behalf. Many regard Curnow as a high risk / high reward selection, but Jason Taylor will not call his name at pick 3 unless he and his team are very confident about the high reward prospect. I have a gut feeling that they just might pull the trigger.

Going with Parish only because I'm pretty confident one of Curnow or Weideman will still be there come Pick 7.

Don't get me wrong, if we take Weid or Curnow at 3 and then end up with say Oliver at 7 I'll still be happy, but think Parish's speed & outside class is a bit more important for us then more inside grunt given we have the likes of Jones, Viney, Vandenberg, Neal-Bullen already.

Good idea. Now in 2 years time we can have something to refer to when hindsight heroes start claiming they knew picking X was a mistake and we should have gone with Y

Picked Parish because outside of Mills I think he is the best Mid available. I also believe one of Francis, Curnow, Weideman will fall to our second pick and if not happy to pull the trigger on another Mid (Oliver) or take Collins or Harry Mckay

If it was going to be Curnow, it won't be now.

From this article:

Curnow's agent Paul Connors, said in a statement Curnow had made "a poor choice".

"He was pulled over by police for driving through a stop sign. A breath test was requested to which Charlie, in his moment of panic, refused," the statement said.
"He was taken to a police station. Charges against Charlie could be being drunk in public, refusing breath analysis and not displaying P-plates."

Brett Anderson must be feeling sour right now.

Hmm. Just read about his escapades last night. Definitely does not fit the Roos no DH policy and now maybe more risk than reward ^ null post please!!

I'm quite shocked by the poll resorts TBH. I voted for Parish but though the voting would be much more even than it is. You sometimes get the sense that the media is manufacturing this doubt and confusion so their reviews, previews, phantom drafts, etc have a bit of variety and a point of difference.

Parish looks like the right choice.

Yeah Davos I think its still Curnow for me too. With Either Weid or Oliver at 7.

I just think we're not seeing it now but Curnow could be something special. The way he moves with the ball, his size and athleticism, contested marking and leading is great. Has huge potential and could be useful playing different roles for the team next year like a lot of our young guys do while developing under Roos. I think he could be the player of the draft. But who knows. I'm a nobody. (ps I'm ignoring the recent run in with the law Charlie had with my comments)

Would still be happy with Parish though

Went with Francis, really think he'l play over 200 games for which ever cub drafts him.

I think well take Parish and will be very happy with that selection also.

After seeing a few pictures of a scrawny 18 yo Nat Fyfe, cant wait to see Darcy grow in the red and blue.

I think you are dead right, Francis will be a beauty and if someone else takes him I will be livid.

Tell me please--are any of the other top choices able to kick a set shot goal from 50m like Francis can?

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
