  1. I’m not into censorship, but this thread ought be deleted - it’s disrespectful to a legend of the club.
  2. I love this club. It’s something that only a truly dedicated MFC supporter would understand - it seems young Eddie Goodwin is one of us.
  3. Phew. Sorry to be paranoid - but we’re actually playing for sheep stations here. And I want a sheep station.
  4. Anyone know who’s injured? It’s 6.54pm and I’m panicking (9 mins past the 6.45pm apparent report). As an aside, I’ll kill myself if we lose to Geelong. I just won’t be able to handle watching their smugness after the final siren.
  5. Apologies if this has already been covered, but how can we afford this bloke? I really don’t want to lose any of our required players over the next few years due to cap pressure, Collingwood style.
  6. We seem to better off playing in front of a large, partisan crowd in an away fixture rather than playing a home game before an empty MCG. It's as though we need the adrenalin of the crowd to play with enthusiasm and intent.
  7. We’re 12 wins, 2 losses - one loss of which we essentially won but for woeful umpiring (Crows), and the other of which we should’ve won but for woeful defending (Pies). We’re currently 8 points clear of second place, mid-way the season. Other than Tomlinson, we have no major injury concerns. The team looks harmonious and united, on and off field, and most, if not all, of our key players have committed to the club through mid to long term deals. It seems likely that we’ll finish in the top 4 and, unlike last year, the prelim and grand finals will be held at the MCG (our home ground). In short, I’ve not seen a Demons team in over 20 years of supporting them better placed than we are now. That said, I feel nervous. Almost uneasy. I’ve read reports that Choco Williams might be Collingwood’s senior coach next year, that Yze is in the mix to replace Teague at Carlton. Burgess will be at the Crows next year. Jackson is homesick and will eventually move back to the Weagles. I fear that May or Lever will get injured in round 20. While I’m probably boxing at shadows here (because we’re in an enviable and unusual position), I just can’t relax. It all feels like a house of cards is about to come crashing down. I can’t work out whether it’s paranoia borne out of years of following a team prone to failure, or whether my concerns are real. I’ve also got 500 bucks on us to win the flag at 17/1 (the entire proceeds of which go to my wife, to ensure she watches each game - with some level of enthusiasm). Anyway, it all feels a bit unreal - too good to be true territory. Anyway else feel this way? I’d also like someone with inside knowledge to confirm that I’m completely wrong in relation to the Choco Williams, Yze and Burgess concerns. Cheers, Ron.
  8. Burgess is next level - he is absolutely the reason behind our hard finishing fourth quarters. Players text him to find out the order in which they need to eat their vegetables during each meal - it’s ridiculous. We won’t be able to replace him (with someone remotely commensurate) if and when he leaves.
  9. People can learn from mistakes and life experiences. And then they become better. I reckon Buckley is firmly in this category.
  10. I was loving this season, until this. If Yze or Williams leave this club right now, I will kill myself.
  11. I like Buckley. He’s absolutely won me over, despite starting from a very low base. I’m worried about Monday though - this announcement will mean the Pies have the equivalent of 20 extra players. If Yze goes to the Pies, I will kill myself.
  12. If that’s the case, we’ve got this.
  13. I feel strangely pessimistic, and optimistic, in equal doses. I think I’ll only work out whether the forces of darkness or lightness in my head will prevail in the first 10 minutes following the opening bounce. I’m hoping Skywalker will prevail.
  14. Lynch and Papley. Perhaps put them in a cage to determine the winner.
  15. And, he was so bad, that he led to us landing Paul Roos, which is the most significant signature in this club’s history. Everything we are now seeing flowed from that. Roos needs to be immortalised.
  16. The MFC is a competent outfit now. Weid was in the starting 18 until he was injured prior to the first game of the season. Then, without any reasonable foreseeability, Tommy Mac rediscovered his 2018 form and Weid hasn’t been able to get back into the team in the short term. We’re 7-0. That said, I’ve no doubt the club is in his ear, and that he is aware that he is in the club’s short, medium and long term plans. I’m also confident he has sufficient maturity and professionalism to understand that the team is flying and there is presently no good reason to change a winning formula. He will get his turn in due course, and the club will want him to be ready to own it when the opportunity presents itself. In short, I don’t think his horses are restless, nor should they be.
  17. I'm crying! He's a lifer. Just like us! Go Trac!
  18. ... immediately give the middle digit to all of my mates, my work colleagues, various general acquaintances, strangers on the street, anyone who’s given me carp over the last 20 years for supporting the Demons - and then remind all of those people that I told them that we’d win the flag this year and that they know nothing, before drinking all the booze in Victoria in one single session. That’s how I’d roll. It’d probably lead to a few regrets by Monday morning. And possibly also a little bit of time spent at her Majesty’s pleasure.
  19. I’d be absolutely (pleasantly) astonished if May can play this Saturday. I had resigned myself to him being out for 3 months when I first saw his injury. I find this news in the first moon-landing territory of remarkableness - surely it can’t be true.
  20. Salem’s Salon. Clayton Oliver is apparently a regular in there.
  21. I’m genuinely surprised to learn that they have a fan forum which does not resemble a comic book.
  22. Choco Williams - recruiting master-stroke
  23. Only high octane expletives can do justice to this news.
