Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Where's Dom Tyson?

It was interesting talking to a player that left the club last year. Said Tyson played well beyond himself in 2014. "He's just not that good" were his words.

I'd trust implicitly the word of a player who has recently left the club.

I'm also pretty interested in the idea that you can play at a level beyond your natural capability. Sounds like something out of a bad 80s SciFi movie.

+ vandenBerg, Trengove, Salem, Kent, ANB, Stretch and Hunt.

Yes. Please.

Not sure that I would be quite ready to put Hunt in with our other emerging midfielders! Despite less time in the system, I would be more inclined to nominate Harmes (and I still think that Toumpas will make it)!

Hugely disappointing year from Tyson, considering how good he looked last year, many of us thought he might step up to an elite level this year

Getting very very sick of seeing our players fail to take the next step

Yeah. What a lazy bastard......feigning injury to avoid hard work. Another failure of recruiting, development, injury prevention.

C&B = [censored].

Well, if they left in 2014 then there are only so many options:

James Frawley

Mitch Clark

Shannon Byrnes

Sam Blease

Mitch Clisby

Michael Evans

Alex Georgiou

Dan Nicholson

James Strauss

Luke Tapscott

Dom Barry

Maia Westrupp

Who is still around the club? Byrnes is coaching at Casey, so it could be him. He's one of the few there who would also have a reasonable frame of reference to judge by. Evans and Strauss are both playing with Old Scotch, so that might be a place to connect.

I think blaming injury alone is a bit naive. Clubs also figured Tyson out and have put more time into him after a great 2014. He is so one-sided. Has no right side at all. Clubs played on his left side and took that away and he was caught so many times trying to get back onto it.

I hope Tyson proves him wrong. I'd love a big pre-season focused on Tyson's running and becoming more comfortable with his right side.

Give me Tyson playing above himself over Watts playing beneath himself any day.

Sometimes he tries to do too much. He was like that last year too but he had 30 possies most games so it wasn't so bad. Just noticed it more this year I think. He's amazing when he's just being an extractor. Quick hands to a runner in traffic. I'd like to see him develop that game as his focus. Take the first option.

He'll be right though, clearly seemed injured for most of the year.

If he can play above his capability for the next decade he'll have a good career and I'll be happy

Is always very good in close - this is where he needs to be. Quick hands and quick, correct decision making. By foot, he's less reliable but always works hard to find the ball.

When he strung together a few games in the later part of the year, he was beginning to look himself again.

Meh, I had an ex-MFC player tell me Stretch was at least 2 to 3 years away.

Just goes to show even players don't always get the crystal balling right.

Didn't like his year. Not sure what injuries he had, but looked slow by hand and foot.

Yeah did seem like he got that knee very early and had to push through for most of the year, tough ask for the young fella and I reckon he acquitted himself well!

Had a wretched year. The knee injury has been with him a while (I think he had it when he first came) and they try to manage it.

That said his impact in games was a lot less this year and his disposal and decision making was pretty poor. He plays in heavy traffic so I can forgive him while he is still learning and building. I have high hopes he can be a very damaging player because he can get the ball. If he can improve the disposal and decision making by a small amount he will be well on the way to having a really strong impact regularly.

Only just turned 23!

We are indeed a young team, we put so much expectation on young players. I feel like his position in the team makes him about 27. Oh, to be like a side that has an average age of 25 with 100 games!

Seemed to relish the role as our number 1 inside ball winner V's the Hawks..

He definitely played a great game, for me though the biggest difference i saw was just how clean he was with the ball, on a wet day that really stood out with everyone else fumbling and Dom being a one touch class player he just looked a level above everyone else on the ground

Loved his game on Saturday. It was interesting how well he, Jones and Vince played. Their pace was very suited to the wet day. He may well be a wet weather gun. His hands were great and his kicking looked great in the conditions. I am critical of his kicking on a dry day sometimes, but he and Vince were awesome.

I hope not, i hope he can reporduce that with Viney in the team, what i like is that it looked like he took it upon himself to step up with Viney out. Signs of a strong and mature leader.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
