Imo Jones is a true leader.

He could of easily waited and got higher offers throughout next season which would have been a massive destraction but instead he has been willing to negotiate and put it to bed now.

He deserves to be our sole captain.

Go Jonesy

When I heard the news I instantly had a vision of Jones and Goodwin holding up a premiership cup.

I hope it's an accurate premonition.

Good on you Jonesy.

Not Jones and Roosy????

Fantastic news. As others have alluded to, this removes distraction and gives great confidence to the team (and supporters).

In an increasingly mercenary world It's so nice to see someone who still espouses old fashioned values such as loyalty, dedication and commitment. Nathan Jones you are an individual of the highest order, and I am so proud that you are the captain of the team I love.

Was there ever any doubt?

Nathan is in a different class to James.

Great news.

Was never in doubt, only to the large group of "Wo is me handwringing MFC supporters" what this proves is

  • As you say Jones is a born leader and a different beast to Frawley
  • Loyalty is not dead in football
  • Demonland has a number of supporters for whom no instant news means the sky is falling, who need to have a good look at themselves
  • Jonesy is a champion despite possibly ending his career without a Premiership medallion
  • The phrase Premiership player is possibly the most overated in football, sure we all want to win one but timing is everything and it doesn't lessen your impact on the game in any way
  • Jonesy can honestly say he bleeds red and blue.

Absolutely brilliant news.

Merry Christmas to all Demonlanders.

My daughter who is 2 is about to get a jumper with 2 on it, she will wear it to the GF in 2018 with pride.

As discussed above a player who turned around from average to our most consistent with hard work and dedication.

Our heart and soul.

Premiership player is only overrated when discussing Nick Maxwell or Nathan Ablett.

Nice timing, the club obviously heard my concerns and quickly rubber stamped the deal. I don't need to hear it from you guys, but I know you are all very appreciative and thankful of my contribution towards the timely announcement of the new deal. It was never in doubt.

Steven Armstrong?

As for the main topic, very happy to see the Jones boy defy the pattern of the recent past. He thoroughly deserves the expression of confidence that a four year deal implies.

Now to see him enjoy some real success and a handful to challenge him for the next B & F.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
