I know little about Bugg and Buntine. On pure stats alone they played only 17 games between them this year and were low possession winners. They may have had injury concerns for all I know but the deal for pick 2, even with a pick 9 kick back, is like us palming off Tapscott and Strauss.

There are many better judges on this board than me but this deal, as reported, sounds ridiculous

It's a no from me as well.

I think we have our back-line sorted for now and we can always touch it up later with a player but for now we need midfielders!

We have three tall backs in Frawley, Garland and McDonald. Then Dunn as a back up/Watts.

We then have several small/mid sized defenders in : Terlich, Clisby, Grimes (I think thats his position going forward) and Strauss (I am going to make a big call and say he will be one of Roos' best prodigies) and Tapscott.

Unless Roos' thinks those two could become gun midfielders then no!

Come on Steve - Jumbo said it. Jumbo works by opposites. He didn't rate Shiel, yet rates Bugg. :)

Entitled to his opinion, I just don't share it!

As for Shiel, I'm actually not quite sold on a straight swap for pick 2. I rate the guy, but I reckon we can do better.

The poster who came up with the three-way with Collingwood saying something about us receiving Sidebottom plus two top 10 draft picks sounds delicious.

I think a deal is underway with GWS and pick 2. Have no idea what it looks like.

As an aside, GWS love Buntine and Bugg. Hard as cats' heads.

lol...havent heard that for yonks..

Pedo will surprise a few next year....

The guys more flat footed than Trengove, has a beer belly and is at that funny kind of height where he is between a medium/tall and a kpp (plays smaller than he is).

The only chance I see for him is him taking Dunn's spot as a 4th tall back-man. Can't see him becoming a forward or wing-man with Clark, Dawes, Hogan, Fitzy and Watts.

Will need to get his body in shape if he wants any chance at all.

Not to mention this.......

Could the MFC very cheekily pull off this..

GWS approached offered picks 2 20 and Jamar for pick 1. They're happy.

In the meantime, MFC on the blower to Collingwood, we take 10,11, Sidebottom for number 1.. Pies get prized possession in Boyd and we get a good midfielder and good picks.

I believe that would be called a 2 player swing haha.

That would be an amazing get.. Sidebottom good mid goes under the radar!

Id pref zak jones or garlett over vince.

Your talking about totally different objectives.

We are getting Vince because we need some senior leadership in the middle who can perform immediately(unlike Rodan and Byrnes).

Jones and Garlett are long term projects and they won't develop properly without some sort of leadership and team competitiveness.

That would be amazing although I am guessing Collingwood would complain.

I really think those picks around ten are under rated - I could see some potentail stars falling to pick 10 (Crouch). Then we could trade the other pick for a decent young mid (Myers and Lyon?).

I agree I don't understand the hate for this bloke. Compared to some of our other players he is actually not that bad. He does need to lose weight but his size and marking ability is a strength of his which is quite handy.

I believe he should have been dropped after that round one game where he ducked his head. It would have sapped every ounce of confidence he had. Just shows what a terrible coach Neeld was. Like Watts after getting subbed against Essendon then getting dropped only to come back a week later after not even playing VFL footy.

Look at the way Neil Craig handled Jimmy toumpas when he was subbed against Brisbane during the 3rd qtr with 2 disposals. You could see how devastated Toumpas was. So what did Craig do? backed him in the week after and played him again. Played real well that game too.

Just shows the gap between Neeld and Craigy in terms of people management skills.

Any sorry for hijacking this thread! LoL

It's not hate from me but I don't like him as a player. He wants the game played on his terms and doesn't work hard enough if it's not. When it's played on his terms he looks good but he won't go out of his way and lets his teammates down when he needs to put in the extra effort. I'm not surprised he had the North players off side, he is a lazy, selfish player and I'm not sure this can be changed.

Don't hate him either, but frustrated by him. Complained a lot in the preseason about the lack of effort we saw from him, he just seemed to want to do everything at half pace. Couldn't believe it when he was selected for the first game.

Myers could be the huge midfielder that we've needed for a long time, to bullock his way through the clinches and force the ball out to other midfielders, like Watson, Kennedy, Mundy, Barlow etc.

In saying that, it's only in his size so far that Myers compares to those names. I personally haven't seen him play all that much.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
