Now I know it's early for this and this one doesn't even involve our club but I just thought I'd post this as it's a pretty big rumor. Filth supporter mate of mine is the nephew of a current filth board member and he texted me this rumour this morning which is pretty big if true.

Collingwood & GWS allegedly already had early discussions about the following trade at seasons end"

Collingwood trade Swan, O'Brien & their 1st round draft pick to GWS.

GWS trade Patton, Adams & a third round pick to Collingwood

The theory behind this being that the money Collingwood save on Swan & O'Brien (mainly Swan) they can use to match any offers for Thomas as a free agent.

GWS by trading Patton would use pick 1 on Boyd giving them a forward line next year of Cameron, Franklin (who they're confident of getting) and Boyd as the 3rd tall/ruck.

My mate doesn't normally give away to much, so not sure if he was out on the sauce celebrating the win last night, but would be a huge trade if it happened. I know Buckley was apparently a big fan of Adams when he coached or mentored him at junior level or whatever relationship they had?

Here's what I've heard, and make of it what you will...

Carlton are practically demanding a trade of Dunn, Strauss, Davis, Spencer and Bail for Murphy. They were also pretty annoyed that we couldn't throw Morton in there.

If I was Collingwood and GWS, I'd do that trade.

It probably favors Collingwood a smidgen, but Swan and Harry O have the points on the board.

Also, they would be ideal to slot in that sides in addition to Franklin.

Would surely make it difficult to retain youngsters, with so much cap space taken up by buddy, swan, Harry, $cully etc....

Swan with only one or two years left according to him, I couldn't see GWS going for it.

If he doesn't gel with Buckley - as speculated - then he could go for it.

It makes sense for both parties, I actually like the trade.

Swan and Franklin are similar, they'd both be a good fit.

Thought that myself, unless of course the AFL pay a large slice of Buddy's and Swan's wage as promotional players. Coleman medalist & brownlow medalist?

Massive win to Collingwood unless they throw in a set of steak knives to even it up.

All we need now is for Chilliboy to return to the fold and the next six months are going to be sheer bliss!

Just heard on channel 7, that the giants have declaired the number 1 draft pick is on the trade table..... Hmm? Are they saying that there going to tank to get the number 1 draft pick? How can they put a pick on the trade table, that they don't have?

That trade in the OP won't eventuate as Swan won't move. He already stated he will retire in 1-2 years as he doesn't have a burning passion for footy. You'd think he'd rather retire than move to GWS for 1-2 years, so that trade won't happen unless they trade someone else in Swan's place.

It seems highly likely Buddy will end up at GWS under free agency. Here's hoping we can pinch Daisy Thomas through free agency or trade across a Craig Bird, Taylor Adams type with a late first round or early second round draft pick.

Very good point.

Having said that, they just got done by the Bullies by less than a goal.

Can't see them winning a game.

Over at Etihad, Norf are putting the Tigers back into 9th.

GWS would always have been putting their top pick up though. They desperately need some quality, experienced players. The last couple of years have been great for drafting potential stars but now they really need some older leaders.

Nothing like watching Carlton and Richmond get hammered one day after the other, satisfaction!

Hawthorn FC site reports Lance Franklin's manager "very confident " he will re-sign with Hawthorn next year

Probably read off a page of the exact statements that Scully's manager made.

Usually I'd be skeptical about any rumours this time of year but I have been wondering what set Harry O off. Maybe this is it?

Pretty sure I started the rumour that Buckley loves Taylor Adams on big footy a couple of years ago.

Based on a kid I worked with being good friends with him at school, who relayed the info that he was Buckley's pet when coaching the VC U/16 team. Always saying "do this, just like Tay does it."

Also during some brief half-time footage a few years ago to show Buckley's supposed state U/16 coaching "prowess" when still a media darling, he praised Adams multiple times.

After yesterdays game Adams may be looked at in a different light. Round arm punch to Cooney will get him weeks. Hot head.

Anyone heard anything about Mitch Banner from South Freo? I'm from Melbourne haven't seen him play this year but I see his stats over the past couple of months have been consistent. High possessions and kicking goals. 23 years old.

Chris Yarren is out of favour with new coach Mick Malthouse.

Definitely, would be a really handy acquisition too. Provides good run and clean disposal from the back line.

Wonder what he'd be worth?

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti
