Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Bit of chatter about that Eagles will do the deal with Collingwood for pick 10 & 27, with 6 going the other way. Dom Sheed tipped to be selected by Eagles at 10, with 27 going to Brissy for Yeo.

Not sure if Collingwood have their eyes set on a particular player at 6 or whether it's going to form part of a bigger deal with GWS. Pick 1 perhaps? Might explain why they're pushing hard for pick 2...

I get the feeling Collingwood are going to end up with recruits like us this year.... If I'm being honest Taylor Adams is ok but it's not hard to stand out at GWS. Jesse White is a 5 good game a year footballer and Karnezis is over rated by a lot in my opinion.

Since this is pretty much the defacto "general trade dicussion" thread...

Just for those wondering about list spots, I've just quoted this from rpfc's very helpful contracts thread on the main board:

So from the 2013 primary list we've lost: Sylvia, Gillies, Davey, Rodan, Macdonald, Davis, Tynan and Sellar.

That's 8 spots opened up (not worried about rookie list at this stage).

Hogan comes onto the list, leaving 7 spots.

Michie comes in a trade, leaving 6 spots.

Just helps us keep track of what pick we have, etc.

The primary list players currently OOC are Nicholson, Jetta and Taggert.

So based on the quote, we currently have room to use picks ND2, ND20, Sylvia compo pick (ND21?), ND36, ND70, PSD2 or can sign a delisted FA in lieu of using a draft pick.

Now you can factor in Vince, Lyons, Cross, Shiel, Bugg, Buntine, etc - whoever you like.

Remember we still need to draft minimum 3 players, but this can include rookie upgrades (Clisby anyone?).

Clisby yes. I think he should be upgraded. Dependent upon who we draft....I see a spot for him in the 22.

Hahaha I love the keyboard heroes on here FWIW I'd back Dazzle to have it over both of you if you were ever man enough to say it to his face

This thread is for rumours and if you have a problem with people posting them I suggest that you raise your grievances/crap on another thread.

I actually enjoy reading dazzle's posts so keep them coming mate

Come on now, Mr Dazzle is the first to criticise a rumour that is posted on here. You can't praise him and then contradict yourself immediately after.

But anyways who cares really, and the end of the day we all live in our parents basements don't we?

ummm.. we all do...don't we?

Anyways, rumours...yes rumours, who's got em?

Just a few things I've heard around the traps.

5 or 6 contracted Melbourne players had meetings with Roos where he stated he would actively seek a trade for them if deals could be worked out would they be open to leaving. Unable to get any names on who but connecting dots and knowing they have to be under contract you could probably work it out if you had the time.

Understanding Shiel was initially quite confronted by all the attention around him being traded. GWS trying to cool him down but home calling his name. MFC first day were 3% now in his mind easily 40-50%. Could go either way for him, but GWS also need to be satisfied which could provide a concern.

I'd only heard of 2 clubs bidding for our pick 2 (not the 5 reported yesterday) but it was obviously GWS and also Port Adelaide.

Lyons has little or no interest in coming to us due to settling down in Adelaide with new girlfriend I presume. Vince super keen on leaving Adelaide and it seems Adelaide are happy to move him on. Surprised we're paying pick 20 by all reports. Thought 36 could do it.

Brisbane midfielder Ryan Lester was looked at as an ex Melbourne boy but Brisbane steming the bleeding on everything they can at this point.

Collingwood super keen on few players I'd consider earlier than their picks 11,12 so may try and package to move up. Wasnt surprised to hear them going for pick 6.

From the draft board, Freeman shot up some boards and was interviewed by a view clubs higher than expected by him and his party. Scharenberg and billings both didn't do any activities due to injuries and the latter has concerns which may see him fall considerably ala Grundy last year. Kelly interviewed well. That is not from MFC camp so can't say if he interviewed from us well, or even at all.

GWS, Brisbane, Western bulldogs and another club also scouted Michie, who ultimately decided he wanted to come to us.

As this final week heats up you do occasionally get some juicy stuff sadly so far not much, but will keep ears pricked.

Their round 1 pick and a player. If it'd been Hartlett deal would already be done so unfortunately can't see that being it. I gathered Matt Broadband a 21-22 year old mid who has been decent for them but no world beater. Not enough though for us.

I wonder who the six contracted players would be??

Broadbent has been setting up play off half back for them, no midfield time last season, good kick and good footballer. Not sure about pick 2 though.

Anyone else have the suspicion that a deal for pick 2 to the AFL Giants was done some time ago, and what we are seeing now is a ruse?

Doubt it. It would have entertain alot of clubs so i would be guessing that smart thing to do would see what every other club can offer.

I'll have a guess: Tapscott, Blease, Strauss, Bail and Jamar.

The first 3 are our version of Brisbane's malcontents, but instead of packing up and taking their potential they've all stayed with us and given us nothing.

In fact Brisbane could be one club interested in these guys as they are around the age that they are losing players from and Brisbane wouldn't want to bring in 5 second or third round picks all in the one draft. We could trade one of these guys to Brisbane for nothing just to get them off our list and use an extra draft pick if we look short of one and Brisbane dont need it. Strauss would be a like for like replacement of Yeo and Docherty. Blease could take the list spot of a Polec or Karnezis. Wouldn't be surprised if they had some interested.

Nope. Remember we didn't even know the final draft order until the commission meeting re priority picks and also GWS have been busy with Frankln, Mumford, Shaw/Adams.

Like everyone they would've been considering free agents and free agent compensation as well. Once that is all cleared up tomorrow I expect the trade period to move pretty quickly. I'd say a few deals get leaked over the weekend and a steady flow of trades until the madness of Friday.

I first saw Hartlett in the under 18's live at Casey and he was the dominant player. Some guys just reek of class. I've been interested in his progress ever since.

So many injuries, which has held him back. I was there at the G in round 1 when he and Ebert murdered us. What a kick. I entered him in my Dreamteam as soon as was practicable, as I didn't have him at the start due to durability. From then on I watched him closely. He's a very good player, but hasn't learnt how to deal with a tag and is still an outside player despite what has become a strong build.

He could tease forever or flick the switch. He's a massive talent, but is behind where I expected he'd be for varying reasons.

Just something smells about the way the info is being leaked out, it's too orderly, orchestrated & fake.

More I sit with it, more I'm convinced.

Unless a deal with one of the GWS players was already done i couldnt really see a deal done now?

But anything is possible, so you never know!

I'd probably add Jetta to that list as well.

Robbo weighs in. Evaluating our performance during the trade period before it's even heated up. Quality work.

It's just pathetic how Robinson (effectively just an outside observer) ridicules the decisions of Roos (one of the best coaches in the last 10 years and someone directly exposed to the workings of the trade racket and the AFL in general).

Today's update:

- Hartlett was never up for trade

- St Kilda were very big on Viv Mitchie but the combination of our young list, game time and Paul Roos proved the clincher.

- Vince expected the next confirmed deal

- Pick 2 trade still a long way from negotiated.

Heard some other stuff but I wont post that.

I was pretty surprised at how our momentum has screamed to a halt. As far as I can see we are on the way to getting most of what Roos thinks he needs. I'm quietly confident that we'll have a capable list in round one.

Maybe Robbo should write an article about what Essendon are going to do with their round one pick.

Oh wait...

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
