  1. Lets get the Richmond doctor to take a look at him. If he gives us the nod then it's a Yes from me.

  2. No issues with that. Home game on our home ground. A great way to start the season and test ourselves. Will be a huge turnout. Very happy.

  4. I know he was very confident of another contract with the Bulldogs a few months ago. He told his player manager to organise a completely performances based contract because he was confident he was over the injuries and ready to role. source - the horses mouth I'd take him.

  6. If Crameri joins the Demons then he won't be the only player with that surname to represent the club. Ben Crameri joined the club in 1954 and worked his way up from the Thirds to the Seconds where he was a member of their 1956 premiership team booting eight goals in the Grand Final. Crameri earned a debut in the Firsts in Round 2, 1957 against Collingwood but played only one more that year before returning to the Seconds where he finished runner up in the Seconds Best and Fairest and equal second in the Gardiner Medal, despite only playing nine Seconds games for the year. Crameri played only one game in 1958 after which he joined Moorabbin in the VFA. He later coached Northcote in that competition. When Stuart Crameri joined the Bombers I enquired as to whether there was a connection between the two but I never found out.

  7. Depth, list clogger? Here is a conservative list of who can play fwd and who kicked goals las year Hogan, Weed, Tommy Mc, Hannan, Bugg, Tim Smith, Harmes, Garlett, ANB, Kent, Trac, Melksham, Gawn, Pedersen We also have AVB coming back That's 15 players on the list and we want to add a 29 yr old coming off a serious hip injury who has had 2 years out of the game

  8. Well done guys. Great to listen to. Two hours went by in a blink. Brilliant hearing the great man reminisce and as TPF39 mentioned above, equally good to hear he's enjoying a happy & fulfilling life. Damn that boy could play !

  10. I remember he kicked 6 goals on chip Frawley back in 2013.. I'd take him purely as a depth option. Definitely not the worst idea going around..

  13. Saty, Can you not remember when you meticulously reported the training sessions every couple of days until you got sick of people questioning your commitment, motives, loyalties, etc until you basically stopped reporting? At the time I didn't blame you because I thought much of the commentary was puerile and simply dumb. It is a shame to see you become one of those taking cheap potshots at others who care sufficiently to post. Frankly, I preferred the old, less supercilious version. FWIW You will be judged by the company you keep. Find better role models e.g. Old Dee.

  16. When fit, Crameri's a better player than Harmes and Bugg, who were regulars. He'd also have Kent and vandenBerg covered. Melksham and ANB's form was pretty solid. He'd probably compete with Hannan for a spot. I like Hannan, and am hopeful with a full pre-season he can be involved in games for longer. Hannan's also a heck of a lot quicker when it hits the deck. I see the forward line as something like: Petracca, McDonald, Melksham Garlett, Hogan, Hannan But you never have everyone available and form dips, so I'd be very happy to rookie Crameri.

  19. Think I agree Saty and Tim Smith is really that position ( depth forward ) and bigger and younger. We can do better with our vacant spots on the list.

  22. Geezus, never seen so many 'Landers agreeing with each other..... Short contract on not many bucks... not a lot to lose. I will add my "why not" to the list.

  23. As long as we could get him on a dirt cheap contract, I'd have him as depth who can come in when we have injuries or poor form. I wonder if we've had a chat with him or if he's just marketing himself? Funnily enough I'd back Crameri to kick more goals in a season than Watts, if both had full seasons.

  25. Have had a busy week, so have only been able to finish listening today. It was absolutely brilliant! Its amazing that he hasn’t been public before as he has so many stories that he tells so well! I started getting interested in footy in the early 90s and Jakovich was plastered all over my bedroom walls. I vividly remember lying on my bedroom floor listening to the Melbourne matches on the radio and recording his goals (and his many behinds) on the newspaper team sheets- then watching the highlights with Drew Morphett at 6:30. (Kids nowadays have it too easy. Was amazing how much detail he could recall and his understanding of the game and the personalities involved is top notch. He’ll always be a fan favourite and is the kind of player you tell your kids about. The amazing thing being that all the YouTube footage that is now turning up actually confirms your memories of his skills and excitement rather than exposes them as exaggerations- he really was that good! Best of all, I’m glad he’s doing well and is happy with his life after footy. A concern when players completely vanish from the face of the earth, despite attempts to find them, is that they may have fallen on hard time. Jako sounds happy and fulfilled with his life and has put things into their right perspective and that’s great to hear! Well done on the best podcast interview I’ve ever heard.

  28. Gee you really got that wrong LDC. Unfair to Jack and a very inaccurate interpretation of what PJ meant. First of all, how is Jack a mercenary? He didn't leave for more money. You know why he left so why disparage the guy with a comment like that? Secondly, PJ was simply saying that Jack was a great guy, who was loved at Melbourne and who loved Melbourne. After his time at Port was up he believed that Jack would consider himself a Melbourne man and get involved with the club. PJ also said that he was going to catch up with Jack when he was back in Melb soon.

  29. I used to give a sh!t about the ins and outs of every trade we were involved in but then you realise it doesn't matter. Don't sweat the small stuff. If that pick we have given up next year for Lever leads to being a good pick then that is 'big stuff' but it would mean something has gone horribly wrong...

  30. Picks after the top 10 are overrated these days. Free agency has completely changed the landscape. We've got an outstanding young core of Hogan, Petracca, Weideman, Viney, Oliver, Hunt, ANB, Lever, Salem, Brayshaw & OMac, plus others who may still come on like Harmes, Stretch, Balic, Johnstone. We don't need heaps of draft picks in the next 2-3 years, we need free agents and ready to go players to fill needs. I've got a feeling the Watts movement is a part of that with someone like Gaff a FA at the end of the year. It's time we put all our eggs in the winning a flag basket.

  33. The clubs should fight back in the next CBA. It doesn't help them to have to pay big money for 21 year olds to stay. Or the 700 players copping less cause Boyd gets 1mil a year Only helps the managers

  34. So maybe you'd care to explain to the uneducated the difference between how an out of contract' player is able to move clubs compared to an 'restricted'' Free Agent then @demonzz I am all ears... or eyes in this occasion. You can call it whatever you want, classify the players in to different categories but no matter how you put it, It's Free Agency

  35. Lever was not a free agent of any kind. He was simply uncontracted.

  37. And this would be the sealer for me. We unfortunately have a forward line chock-a-block with players who apply bugger all defensive pressure, with Hogan being a major offender. No point bringing in a bloke who will add nothing to fix that problem.

  38. This kid bleeds Blue and Red, is exactly what the Dees need as a high half forward, endurance and speed to burn, 2.93 PB for 20m, was top 10 for 4 out of the physical tests at combine. Will take a year to fully mature at AFL level but the reward will be grand, plenty of Hampton Rovers in this lad and with Angus Brayshaw and Christian Salem looking after him the sky is the limit with deep roots via his Grandfather. if Dees don't take I feel he will go between 35-50

  40. Actually I'm not, and you are quite rude. From the start I have held my self back but I won't anymore. Jack did not come back out of shape, his time trial this year was better than last when he came 5th in the B And F. He gets on great with all the young guys. He is not a bad influence, he trains as well as 80 percent of the boys. He is not Viney. He came back with blue hair which [censored] them off. He is not ruthless, he treats people with respect. I don't care what any of you think, Melbourne are back in the Neeld era but with more talent so might survive it. I hope they do for the sake of the beautiful boys they have. There has been a campaign all year to crucify Jack and it has worked but it doesn't pass the pub test. Finally 18 months of good footy and they trade him, go figure! Do you think Macca is any different to how he was at the Bulldogs? I really wish the Dees well and I'm not a Dees supportor anymore but if you are have a think about how this has happened.

  41. Every footballer who plays a longish career these days should be a "millionaire" at the end of it. Provided they've made some good investments with their income and not wasted it. You're a millionaire these days if you own a reasonable house.

  44. Why? Because it ruins the narrative of the 'save Jack Watts' campaign and those trying to impugn the integrity of our footy department? Personally I think the idiot supporters ringing SEN and moaning about Jack Watts should shut up and concentrate on next year.

  46. Make 4 or 5 banners, capturing all players (I’ll admit to having no idea how difficult this is) and cycle them over the year rather than having a single dedicated banner. If not, I vote for Pedersen to be given a guernsey.

  47. Walker is really only damaging his own reputation by persisting with this line of trash talking his ex-teammates. To have gone thru the Phil Walsh tragedy showing some real leadership and camaraderie to this, being a bitter and vindictive Club captain surely can’t be enamouring himself to his other teammates. Seems like a bit of a boys club over at the Crows where it’s okay for Dangerfield and probably Sloane to leave next year, escaping any criticism.
