  1. A 100+ point thrashing and their coach resigning is the only acceptable outcome from this match.

  2. Not Necessarily true about support. I understood it was Freo people backing us, including their cheer squad. Optus is called Boo stadium for a reason and no sympathy here for any Eagles types.

  4. I do take some perverse delight in watching Jeremy Howe watch goal after goal sail over his head. How's that 'moving for success & to play forward' working out.

  5. We wanted to see him improve his defensive game, we loved what he did on offense but he simply didn't work hard enough the other way and would fade out of games completely as a result. The dogs offered him job security and more consistent games in the seniors so pretty easy decision for all involved there Fortunately for MH he got to be there on the day when the team that drafted him had the ultimate success

  6. Mum's from Perth, Dad's Melbourne. As a 4 year old I wanted to follow eagles (kids are [censored] stupid) but the old man threw a Dees jumper on me for my first Vickick session, rusted on since. I remember '94 wondering why Schwarta wasn't able to rip the prelim apart. Lived in Perth for uni years during the swans-eagles era and cannot feel an ounce of pity for this lot. I agree with @binman that we will hold them at 40 and not spend tickets smashing them and that is fine. Cos the Dees rock and the Eagles can go and cook meth in a bathtub in Bayswater.

  8. Having seen the official teams now, anything less than a 60 point win would be a disappointment for the club. We can bang on about being defensive and our style not being conducive to smashing teams, but if we can’t absolutely [censored] them on turnover then it’d be disappointing. Freo and Brisbane both smashed them and are now a chunk of percentage ahead of us. If we drop a game then we fall to third. Percentage is important and this next two matches against Eagles and North is our best chance to give it an almighty bump. Be ruthless Dees. Let’s score 100+ and keep them to 30 or less.

  10. Bailey Fritsch in 2022 2.2 against Footscray rd 1 1.0 against Suns rd 2 2.2 against Essendon rd 3 3.0 against Port rd 4 4.0 against GWS rd 5 2.2 against Richmond rd 6 1.1 against Hawthorn rd 7 1.0 against St.Kilda rd 8 He was quiet last week but surely these numbers qualify him for the “playing his role” status which gets handed out to others when justifying a supposed quiet game. One of our teams strengths is you can’t stop them all, it was only a couple of weeks ago people were calling for Kozi to do more. The counter argument being his pressure acts, I would think Fritsch’s pressure acts would never rival that of our small fwds but he is a class player that is hard to match up on and can produce when needed.

  11. West Coast were the only team to expose our Achilles heel last year - freak thunderstorms. Wouldn’t be surprised if Adam Simpson gets a forecaster from the BOM to speak to the WCE team this week and fire them up.

  18. RPFC Have you actually have heard Angus say he prefers to play midfield and say since the premiership if he doesn't get his way he will leave and play elsewhere? I have not heard him say that and in fact more than ever he said it last week again after the Saints win that he is playing his role and that is what he is concentrating on. I have not heard ONCE yet that he has said he will leave. It is the minds of supporters (maybe very limited from the Press) that have have tried to put 2 and 2 together and are ending up with 5 perhaps. Same as others are indicating he wants more money and will leave also. I reckon he took a little convincing early last season that the wing was his position but once he was convinced he started calling it the Wingers Club. He now calls defense the Men's Club!!! I think we are blessed with Angus who goes under the radar and his footy is at the top of his game at the moment. Yes money and sometimes the grass is greener are motives but Angus has a much more rounded lifestyle and care about people more than anything I believe. He looks like a keeper to me but I might be reading the tea leaves wrong!!! PS I hope he doesn't leave as the any of the Brayshaws are top people and value Clubs and all values and things that make them great.

  19. A perfect round for us would be: Nil all draw Bulldogs vs Filth Hawks knock off Tiges North get a win out of the way over Port Saints knock off the Cats Bombers knock off the Swans Crows knock off the Lions Suns knock off the Dockers Giants knock off the Blues And the Dees win by a record winning margin over the Eagles.

  20. Averages 2 a week and doesn’t need much of it, always dangerous. langdon 9 rnd 7, 39 possessions Rd 8, but Goodwin presser, played his role both rounds. Demons keep structure in place and all ground defence, so all players just play role, and opportunities will come, everyone shares success. = TEAM

  21. This intrigued me and thought maybe Bailey has been living off his GF which was outstanding. In looking at his numbers he has kicked a goal in every game and is averaging: 2 goals, 0.9 points and 0.9 GA. The GA's count for a lot given that they are usually close to goal via a player in a better position. For a relatively low scoring club Bailey's numbers look reasonable. But he does look quite relaxed at times giving me the incorrect impression he may not be working as hard as he could be. Had i known we were going to play 'shut the game down' final quarters I wouldn't have tipped him for the Coleman. Will know better next year!

  23. And neither was that a successful era. Scott lycett/nathan vardy Toby nankervis Jordan Roughhead. These are premiership ruckman. Much prefer to have 2 way running, smart, courageous hard midfielders. The ruckman is the cream, its not the substance. Overpaying to keep Jackson and losing Brayshaw would be a decent misstep imo. Also, Collingwood says hi.

  26. We've got it in us to belt teams by huge margins in the H & A season. Last year we thrashed Gold Cost by 98 points, albeit later in the season (round 20) when we were starting to peak during the run in to finals. I wouldn't be surprised to see West Coast stick with us for a while but then get completely run over by the Demon Machine.

  30. Yeah I guess what I was proposing was less about this year... but doing away with the Grand Final Guarantee option (which admittedly is less $$). But it then offers an extra incentive (A) for members to sign up and (B) for them to attend as many games as possible. Not sure what the net $$ result would be. Agree with LH that this is only an issue for the grand final - unless playing someone like Richmond, most supporters that want to go to any other final will be able to get a ticket. Also agree with DC that this would be too hard to track for non-members. . But it is something they already track for members. Edit: And @roy11 - I'm a MFC/MCC member too... pretty sure they track how many games we go to regardless of whether we use MFC or MCC. Someone else could confirm.

  32. Gil has been quoted as saying that the start time is up to the Commission even though a majority of fans want to stay at 2.30. It is our game, not the Commission's, and our wishes should be paramount. Who cares about fireworks and entertainment? It's footy we want.

  38. Correct. Every week we see numerous examples of players questioning a decision, and the umpire seems fine with explaining it. Just goes to prove what a nob Brad Scott is for bringing in the strict interpretation of dissent, and how idiotic he came across when he tried to justify it.

  40. I'm thinking its because we just back our best 22 to do the job week in, week out without worrying much about the opposition. Although there are always some significant one on one plans for certain players who lock down (Petty, May, Hunt etc), it looks like we just play a system brand and back our system in to choke teams to win. We're the hunted at the moment, all over the ground and teams are trying to stop us rather than vice versa. We have had an incredible run with injuries which won't last (sadly) and then test our depth. I'm still not certain that it's as good as everyone thinks and some players are riding on the coat tails of Trac, Oliver, Gawn who are just so dominant in winning the ball and putting others into space. It still worries me that if any of these three get injured or worse, more than one, we'd come crashing back down to Earth fairly quickly. We'd still win the flag of course, but maybe only by 4 goals instead of 8.

  41. I'm not sure why people keep assuming Gus has a desire to play inside mid. He has had a series of concussions (as an inside mid), is a smart guy who'd understand the ramification of further concussions, and plays in a soft helmet to prevent concussions... why would he be in a hurry to return to the position where another concussion is more likely than where he currently plays..?

  42. Will be good to see Brodie Kemp play his first game for Carlton. high rated kid who has been injured his whole career. Kozzi from the same draft has 46 games and a flag!

  43. Spot on. And I'd that the combination of his skill, brilliant one one marking ability (particularly for a player who is neither tall or super strong) and his importance to the side mean that the opposition simply have to put a decent defender on him, and they have to play him pretty tight. Which is tricky on a number of fronts. He will thrash most small defenders in the air, so you need a medium or big on him. But they also have to cover THREE other talls. Thisls adds to the match up challenge as how many tall defenders do each team actually have. It is one reason why the dogs struggle to contain us And making things more of a challenge is that having to play him tight makes it hard to zone off him - which in tun makes or harder to stop our other talls. The other ace up fritters sleeve is his brilliant field kicking that often create score involvements and goal assists.

  44. I don't understand how people make these sort of comments. Have you seen his knee? Do you know the level of pain he is in? Do you know if he's even in any pain? Do you know the nature of the injury? Do you know if it can get worse throughout the game? Do you know if playing can aggravate the injury? Do you know if playing puts him at risk for further injury? Do you know if he doesn't play, how he can keep his fitness up for the following week without doing any running? Unless you know the answer to all of these questions, surely you trust the medical team that are actually professionals.

  45. I hadn't even thought of Harris as being a risk of leaving. I think she left Brisbane to come to Victoria, not chase money. And it's pretty clear she did not gel with Carlton as a club. The money demand was leaked by Carlton but was also a request for a full time job year round at the club as well as the footy. I don't think that is an unreasonable sort of request given the situation those women find themselves in. But ever since she crossed to the Dees she has been absolutely embraced and seems a much loved part of the group. She also seems really down to earth tbh.

  47. Still no thread on their Flying High website. WCE fan disinterest meter rising? A few more gems from Bigfooty: lol Melbourne had a genuine chance to rest some sore players but will fly the whole team out... ... As if they won’t be getting a rest on Sunday ... Running scared they are. Worried about our 'keeping it close to the chest' surprise selection policy they are. Think we might beat them they do. At least we'll keep the time honoured tradition alive of getting pumped on a players milestone game. Genuinely surprised they intend to risk Gawn against us. They rate Jamo highly I see. Unfortunately we have been spoiled as supporters of west coast. Other teams have been down for decades and when we are down for a few years we are up in arms. It says a lot about us as supporters and a lot of us are fair weather in our attitude.

  48. Wow! Just amazing! 60,000 Melbourne Football Club members! What a wonderful milestone! It almost brings a tear to my eye. I remember when we were struggling to get to over 20,000 members back in the late 1990s. Well done and congratulations to all those paid up Melbourne Football Club members! Let's get to 65,000 members! That's the next achievement! GO DEMONS!!!
