  1. I have been thinking quite a bit of late about a piece of information I conveyed in my last training report. I posted that IMV The best 3 trainers on the ground were Clarry, Sparrow and Jack Viney. Over the holiday period I have been watching all the finals and quite a few home and away matches ( of which I have the full set) and have come to a number of conclusions about Jack Viney and although I have been critical of his game in some instances in the past, I now believe he is a much better player than he ever was! A few pionts 1 The style of play the trademark see ball get ball remains 2 As the season progressed I saw new levels of team 1 % increasing like blocking, shepherding, and a more emphatic buy in of team first ethos. Now I'm not suggesting for one minute that these were lacking but I saw a more refined Viney part of the machine mantra and this has made him a much better player 3 In critical games he was instrumental in allowing Clarry and Trac space and time to do their thing and because he was so brutal in his approach that no-one or anything was going to stand in his way and this is a Viney trademark. 4 His finals series was selfless as it was" Briiliant" with his take no prisoners approach and his ball use and more importantly his decision making was stellar. He now gives of much more efficiently to almost first option than ever. 5 I also noticed his team mates get around him at regular intervals and vice-versa, hence a genuine rapport and empathy is evident. 6 He remains an excellent V.C to Max and leader in his own right. I think he is more suited to V.C than Capt because maybe just maybe he doesnt feel the onus to have to do it all himself. So after analysing and watching and looking for the obvious and not so obvious I concur that Jack Viney is a vital cog in our quest for Back to back Premierships and that his improvement as a player is well evident! 😁

  2. Agreed. Case in point was his critical touches at the two centre bounces that resulted in the final two goals of the 3rd Qtr of the GF. The first a "blink & you miss it" handball out of the middle to Trac, and the 2nd, a deft little toe tap into Jacko's path. In both cases, the very obvious parts of those plays was the dominance of Clarrie & Trac. But, that wouldn't have happened without Viney's vital touches at the coal face that made their involvement possible!

  3. I was hoping that a premiership would have stopped this type of “sky falling” conjecture.

  4. Born to play finals is Viney #BeastMode

  5. He dished off the ball instantly in the finals series, he is a different beast when he decides not to hold possession too long

  6. If there was a best in finals award he would easily be in top 3. He was arguably the most consistent player over the 3 matches. You’d hate to have this bloke as your opponent!

  8. I'm starting to get a bit worried about all this. My sister's freinds brother Phil is in Cockburn (the suburb or Perth) works as an admin assistant to an estate agent was saying the other day that a they had a buyers agaent who was saying he worked for an AFL player of one of the successful East coast teams inquiring about property in the area.

  9. His final series was exceptional, as a “Team” player his GF was just as important as CP5

  10. I love watching the semi where we absolutely creamed the cats, and one thing both this and the GF have in common is the shell shocked look on the opposition faces, they were in awe of us.

  11. Running back to Perth didn't work out too well for Jessie - I think Luke knows he is in a very special place right now The core of this premiership team can enjoy sustained success and get handsomely paid too along the way If they stick together Plenty of examples of characters that chased the $$$'s only to be disappointed - its not all about money IMO

  14. Clark Keating like. I wouldn't even bother playing him until the finals this year then let him rip.

  18. Unless he's seen at the airport in a WCE T-shirt, going over to Perth to "inspect the facilities", nothing to worry about. Unless his old man gets a job as a recruiter for WCE, nothing to worry about.

  19. Doing the numbers, one coach had Lampy BOG and no votes from the other coach. Dal Santo would have felt L Pearce was influential and on top all day so gave her the BOG 5 votes. Don’t Dees rucks always dominate! So Mick liked Sarah’s game. There were a few clangers in the windy conditions but she worked really hard and our backline needs her.

  20. Because I have no doubt West Coast are working on a god father offer for LJ. They need a star after Nic Nat retires in 2-3 years whilst Freo don't really need him as much due to their young star ruck in Sean Darcy. We'll be doing extremely well if we can get LJ on a long term deal. Extremely well.

  21. So Jackson is the only player that belongs to a successful east coast side. My wifes second cousins mistress told me that can't be true.

  26. I've been looking at the coaches votes each week and have found them puzzling. I couldn't have Harris as BOG, but she did play well. At least two of her shots at goal were from frees. I thought Hanks was BOG by a clear margin then Pearce etc. McNamara was terrific last week in spite of her early clangers (much like Lampard's this week) but didn't feature too highly in the votes. In the AFLCA votes, I'm usually agreeing and rarely surprised, but not so with the AFLW.

  28. I'm predicting he'll sign a 2 year extension. Same as Clarry. They, or their managers, like to keep their options open. Having said that, hopefully the flag (or hopefully) 2 ... or more would make a difference. Like Jee-long and Richmond players who signed on for 'unders'.

  29. Yep.... she tested positive "after" going out of the tournament On another note today marks two years from the first covid case in Melbourne. I took off for India a couple of days later. Those were the days. Let's hope that it's a distant memory this time next year.

  33. The thing I like about this list is Luke Dunstan is at 26. Second Saint on the list behind Brad Couch. I heard it said Ratten didn't like Dunstans turn-overs and the big knock on him was his disposal, but considering the company he is in on that list he is a pretty good ball winner and fits in well with our territory gained football. Looks like he is a really good pick up.

  36. One of the fantastic things about the Demons awesome flag victory is no matter what happens during the day since Sept 25, I’m only 3 mins 30 seconds from being deliriously happy again, that snapshot of our 7 goals in the third is just pure joy: Harmes to Fritsch then Fritsch Followed by BBB Brayshaw (unbelievable courage) Trac - pure skill Sparrow - - great goal of a step in a phone booth Clarry / Jacko handball perfection I’m not sure if we will ever see a better trio of goals, than the last three in 30 plus seconds to finish the quarter! Sept 25 to now - everyday has a happy ending 😃

  37. I wish they'd put the FoxFooty post match back on Kayo. They were still in shock after the onslaught. Very watchable.

  38. Leppitsch made the point in the Brisbane final that our game was based on pressure, moving the ball forward as quickly as possible and embracing full field pressure to lock it in or move it further forward. Clangers were a byproduct as a result and the Dees would reset quickly rather than dwell on them.

  41. Other than not signing his extension yet there has been zero indications that he won't stay. He was looking quite happy training with the other WA recruits in the off season. His parents are even talking about re-locating here. I think the days of fretting over players re contracting are over for a while

  42. I don’t mind your definition 😁 I was thinking of Hipwood and McStay as well as Rayner. In that prelim they pretty much had just Daniher as a tall, who was totally ineffectual.

  43. Flash what does intact forward line mean? Daniher having his 3 brain cells firing at the same time?

  44. I really don’t see the threat from Sydney and GWS. Sydney too dependent on (very) ageing players such as Franklin, Kennedy, Parker and even Rampke - and now have lost a couple of good younger players in trades. GWS should concern me more if they still had Cameron. t
