Let’s not get into semantics here. You know exactly what I mean. Goodwin is delivering his message by talking, in response to a question he’s been asked verbally. When people say ‘less talking, more action’ or words to that affect, in response to a player or coach who’s holding a mandatory press conference, you have to shake your head in disbelief, or maybe laugh and shake your head at the same time.

Since coming into this season seemingly underbaked, we’ve improved each week. Our forwards started to gell last week, and our ability to connect across the ground took another step toward the levels we hit late last year. Continue on this improvement trajectory and we should have the saints covered.

I was there for 1 hr. Very windy conditions. Pruess - not convinced he will play this week, trained away from main group and left track early, taking 1 handed chest marks as to not favour his crook shoulder. May, Lever, Bradkte, Maynard - trained away from main group. AVB, Hannan, KK - not sighted. Lewis, Lockhart, Jetta - all trained fully and are available for selection, Lewis looked good. Sparrow stood out to me in match simulation, was in everything... ANB was training hard also.

Stretch is not fast, not sure why so many think he offers pace. He is aerobically fit, so he can run long distances. But he is not fast and is not powerful in his running movement. Oscar is slow and is stinking it up generally and St Kilda have a small forward line so Lewis and Jetta make sense as ins. Lewis offers some composure with ball in hand also. Jetta can lock down on Gresham hopefully. St Kilda's hard running will only hurt us if we're poor with our ball use. Anything like the first three rounds and we lose. I'm not confident because of our form but if we can link up well through all areas and if we're efficient inside 50, we should have a comfortable win. Their back six is sketchy.

I have never to my memory denigrated a player, other than this bloke, who has left us for greater financial reward and there have been plenty over the years. This bloke is a scumbag. To our dying President, to the members when he said I am staying and want to be a one club player, to his team mates, even to the public at large. when he was interviewed at Sydney Airport with his family and said he was just having a look around and then the next day a video was being sold at outlets with him in his GWS gear. We know the video wasn’t made that night. I suspect he even lied to GWS about his injury to get to Hawthorn just like he did with that terrible knee injury he had, which disappeared when he left us for GWS. To me this bloke is scum.

Maybe he won't make it at another club, and is better off and content with being handy depth when the coach requires it. Why can't players make a career of providing 5-10 games of injury cover per year while making the VFL side strong with consistent performances? Great to see Omac finally dropped. He needs to work on his game but needs to do it in the seconds not the senior side. Hopefully he gets into form and comes back but only when he is well and truely in form.

Good to see OMAC back at Casey. Glad we didn't bring in a tallish defender as the saints are not that tall. I would have kept Stretch and probably dropped Spargo. Stretch needs a decent run in the senior side.

Yep. A big part of that improvement is related to increased fitness. The 9 day break could not have come at a better time. A combination of being able to recover from the last game, having a block of time to build some fitness post recovery, and lewis and jets back a bit fresh means we will be in our best shape fitness wise this year. They are coming of a six day break from what was a taxing, physical game. Huge disadvantage. I'd be jacked off if I was a saints fan. Poor scheduling by the AFL but for once it helps us.

Wow what a morning of Champions League football! Best game I've seen in this tournament for a long time, almost going back to a 4-4 between Chelsea and Liverpool 10 years ago. As a Reds fan I'm slightly annoyed that City aren't still in the CL and that Spurs didn't 'save' their good result against City for the league but forget all that! It's a stellar performance from a team missing their main marksman and make no mistake this Spurs side plays with a heck of a lot of spirit. The manager is easily one of the best in the business now. Don't usually like other English sides winning the CL but if we can't I'll be backing Tottenham to go all the way for sure.

In short no. Completely different, Lions playing last years runners up at their first sellout in a decade. Beating Collingwood would be a massive scalp on field & off, particularly given where they are coming from. Us, well prelim finalists vs a side many tipped to be bottom 4. My view of the saints hasn't change, they've had 3 lucky wins & found out against an average Freo on the road. These games are the worst, win & it's yeah well done only St.Kilda. Lose & all hell breaks lose. So this game is huge for us just to get the 4 points, build some momentum & try to even the W/L ledger up. Should we win Saturday, anzac eve will be the test.

Goodwin has played games before although there are examples of other coaches that do it more than him ... I don't read into anything he says on the injury front. Also don't read into training reports from those with rose coloured glasses or deliberately trying to misinform. Doubt Preuss will play and suspect that they want to keep st.kilda guessing about our final team and whether they will need an extra tall in defence... all the smoke and mirrors is a waste of time and supporters get misinformed in the processes

I saw Hamnan, AVB and JKH in Edwins I thought Chandler shone today in the drills I thought the kicking in the windy conditions was really good One frightening bit was Petty, they were doing a defensive spoiling drill involving a couple of bags, McCartney shouted 'crash it' as Petty approached the second bag, he did, he spoiled but then did a complete 360 in the air over the bag, which collapsed underneath him He landed face down but bounced straight up, I think the accompanying laughter from everyone was more nervous relief than anything

We'll need another fit tall to come in. Keilty may get his go. With this it also effects the smalls we choose. Re the space we can create. I'd bring in the hardworking hard-running Lockhart against the Saints... and keep Jeffy for the Tigers ANZAC Eve clash. Not sure which game for Lewis. Preuss sounds like he is very bruised/strained in that AC joint. Foolish bump from that body position... get him right.

The level of intensity and application Essendon showed against us was at least double what they showed against St Kilda. That was little to do with St Kilda being better than us (which was also true), it was more about how Essendon attacked the contest or generally cared about the game. In the first half of their game, Essendon was non-existent. St Kilda were playing a below-VFL level side. They've beaten a developing young side in GC by 1 point, an Essendon side which played the worst half of footy anyone will play this year whilst struggling to hold them off, and they beat Hawthorn by a kick despite the Hawks having at least 6 injuries and only 2 on the bench for a half. If we're talking their 3-1 record alone, I'm not worried in the slightest. It's not their W-L record which is the thing we should be worried about. St Kilda play a style of game which, when they're on, is our achilles heel. They'll use the space on the G, they'll bring pace, and if we leave too much space behind our press then they'll find it easier to score than they have in the opening four rounds. This is not going to be easy for us, but St Kilda is not a good side.
