Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Tmac can’t jump anymore. That’s fatal for a KPF. He’s purely depth next year. Not sure whether bb’s knee problems are curable but he’s a better bet than tmac.

I think the other way round.

They were both key to winning the flag in 2021, maybe brown doesn’t come over if we offer less and we never win a flag, who cares if they go a year long, what players are we missing out on anyway. It would have just been speculative late picks or rejects from another team anyway. There is no million dollar free agent we could have got instead. Same thing with Grundy people act like we had some other better option last year.

Id say we actually have fantastic list management we haven’t lost a single player in as long as I can recall to cap issues. The fact we have the space to take these chances is a good thing

Someone authoritative - himself, his partner or club staff - referred to it as 'bone on bone'.

Anyone on here with 'gnosis' (😁) care to try a diagnosis and prognosis?

I'm no knee expert but:

I have osteochondritis dissecans or bone on bone in one knee. It was a result of many years of playing basketball ie. running and jumping on an unsuitable surface (not sprung).

Chipped femur bone and
cartilage were removed and I was advised not to run again lest I do more damage.

If BBB has bone on bone he's shot. Running and jumping would be painful and he'd be risking more damage to his the base of his femur or top of his tibia (my guess) and chronic arthritis (again, my guess).

If that's they case the club should tell him to retire or he should do it himself.

With @M_9's response above, this reaction is understandable.

But it's a big consequence, and one on which both club and player are, for the moment, staying quietly inactive.

So, while I'm very confident that I heard that information, from one of those sources, I'd really appreciate hearing that someone else did, too!

Please don’t remind me of those dark, dark days. Oh, the turnovers!

That's years ago and don't tell me TMac would be any greater liability if he was tried in defence than asa forward now. His kicking has improved so he wouldn't be a liability as he is able to pass now. You forget TMac was plunged into AFL far earlier than he was ready and had to learn while learning with very average back men no Mays or Levers to cover up.

He was the first tall then came Danny Frawley who did much the same and ended up having a great year he was AA.  Then he defected to the Hawks after he was also placed at CHF to assist our underwhelming attack. They covered up for him if he made an error and replaced Ben Gibson after he retired I recall. ( hopefully correctly).

Sorry about what ?

That was then just remember Gawny early on.

That was what the stage the Club was at.

Oh I know.

Like I know we were pretty [censored] back then but didn't realise we were that [censored] to the point we had to drag Danny Frawley out of retirement and even hand our poor old media manager in Ben Gibson a jumper to play...

Poor buggers.

when tex was 31 he kicked 14 goals in 15 games and was absolutely clawing onto that next 1yr deal and the footy world thought he was gonna roll the legs over one more time and then dip... he didn't and this year he kicked 70g and was an AA could either of these two possibly do that next year?

Really wished BBB was fit and available for the Carlton final and selected over T Mac.

If nothing else he would've respected and made the most of his set shot opportunities unlike the skipper.

I'll be amazed if he's on the list next year after being nursed through 2 of his 3 seasons (yeah, yeah, I know his contracted and all that...)

Things went bad in 2019 for Tommy, the only game he looked himself in sure him injure his knee. Didn’t get better in 2020. We tried to dump the salary after that. Played some good games in 2021 but really it was half a good year out of the last 5.

I actually think he was good in the first half of 2022 before he got injured. We won ten on the trot with him in the side then it all went the way of his ankle / foot.

If Bbb is playing with bone on bone in his knee he's superman. The top of the shinbone and the bottom of the thigh bone have articular cartilage between them. Having recently had a joint replacement because of lack of this cartilage, I can tell you that it is so debilitating that to even walk to the letter box was a chore, let alone playing and training for football. I don't doubt he has issues in this area but bone on bone is b.s. The only fix will be a knee replacement which gives you your life back but I'm afraid his playing days would be over. He is just delaying the inevitable.

FWIW Shaun Burgoyne and Andrew McLeod both played with bone on bone for years.  Shaun was supposed to have had it when he went to Hawks.

What I expect you are alluding to is that bone on bone means different things in different cases - no two are the same.

I hope the you are not suggesting that those to whom you referred had better pain tolerance, or more determination than BB and TM.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
