Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The meaning of "all reasonable steps" will depend on whether the player is from a big club, and/or is a star player,  and/or is a "good bloke who wouldn't have meant that".

More long winded court cases coming up, involving lawyers hijacking a sporting tribunal and turning it into a criminal trial, quibbling over the meaning of "all", "reasonable" and "steps", until the tribunal members' heads are spinning and they don't know where they are or time it is, or indeed their own names.

Exactly.

Gotta remember it was Gus' fault for deviating too somehow.

This is the narrative that annoys me the most. The ‘changing lanes’ argument. Somehow the guy who had disposed of the ball, not expecting contact, following through his regular kicking action was responsible for the contact. Let it sink it. Once it does, you will see how corrupt the AFL is.

Seeing that dog [censored] Brayden "the Thug" Maynard win a Premiership Medallion is an absolute disgrace!

I hope someone accidentally runs that piece of slime over with a truck!

I hate that [censored] [censored] more than any other player in the AFL now! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

He's no dog. Dogs are great. Friendly, funny and good company. Smart too. Maynard is none of those things.

Maynard is a maggot. Can we agree?

Two points;

1. It is important to try to keep the idea of protecting the head alive.

2. It is a higher priority to ensure that Maynard doesn't breed.

So there are other higher (lower?) priorities than knocking him out.

Perhaps a double of what Steve Silvagni copped many years ago (ruptured [censored]) would serve your purpose.

We will never know what impact that hit on Gus made to our over all team dynamics.

The closest summation you can make as to what sort of impact Gus might have made in that game would be his previous finals games for the club.

Which to say the least have been fairly impactful to our end results.

3rd best GF day 20 plus possessions crucial slips catch mark and goal at an important moment in the 3rd quarter.

His replacement has 2 possessions for 3.5 quarters of football, huge imapct on the game.

Gus is a big game player. He smashed the 21 granny and on that basis losing him was a huge factor in losing against Pies. Also the inexperienced Laurie as the sub was not a good selection IMHO.

I would love to audit the AFL. Millions will have vanished into the ether. Tricky Gil learned everything from his dodgy predecessor.

The media have constantly watched his back and  celebrated him as a great administrator.  F...off.

Still not sure i will be tuning in next year. The disgusting behaviour of the media and AFL towards Brayshaw/MFC after the Maynard incident will linger for many years.

True. My god, these people. Demetriou showed his true colours when he left the game. Everything he touched (dodgy colleges etc) turned to [censored]. No doubt he's still lolling by the pool in some mansion somewhere. What were his qualifications? From memory, maybe an ex primary school teacher? Not even a decent conman.

I am still absolutely furious about the whole Maynard incidence. The fact I am married to a Pies supporter only makes it worse. Mind you - he knows to stay in my good books not to bring it up. I have already decided not to go to any games against Collingwood next season.

I just had channel 7 news on for the first time in a decade.  What do I see?  The thug coming on to talk about his mysterious illness.  I keep the channel on 7 despite my revulsion.  The mystery illness he lives with is OCD.  He explained his distress at overthinking and needing to repeatedly check he has locked his door.  Ok mate, but lets put Angus on and let him explain the ins and outs of his concussion experiences and what he experienced in September because of said thug.

Well, if I was constantly surrounded by Collingwood filth, I'd be constantly and repeatedly checking my door was locked too.

Seriously though, how does repeatedly checking your door is locked actually count as OCD?  I do that sort of thing, but I'd hardly call it OCD.

If the AFL were serious they would bring back unduly rough play. Captures any weird incident like a flying cannonball smother that isn't otherwise deemed reportable. No room for technicalities.

They had plenty to charge Maynard with, they just lacked the motivation to do so.

Putting the Maynard incident aside, we came out as flat as a pancake for a final, barely went inside 50 and lost the contested possession count by 10 (a key KPI for a final) before the incident occurred.

Collingwood set the tone before the Maynard incident and it just wasn't our night whichever way one looks at it.

And yet we “only” lost by 7 points.

The entire team was flat, and in fact scared that their friend and teammate initially might have been dead, and then may have remained comatose, for the remainder of the first quarter.  Absolutely and understandably  shell shocked.

They actually did well to out score what was mooted in the media as the greatest team of the year with 6 goals 11 points to 5.4 for the rest of the match.

Even if Angus was not going to have another of his big finals games, he would have inevitably contributed towards at least a couple more goals than did his replacement, and the flat first quarter may have been even a little less flat.

But, inevitably, the AFL have yet again squibbed at making a genuine statement, which they will feign as soon as a “lesser player from a lesser club” actually does make accidental contact with an opponent’s head.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
