Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Part of the issue is Oliver bombs and lacks creativity and we become predictable ... when he was out this didn't happen as much

A habit that so many one eyed supporters miss in their gushing over him.

It's the kind of habit that just kills us and just completely undoes all of that mesmerising contest work.

Part of this habit is actually technique. If you watch him kick whilst on the run under little pressure, he kicks the ball across his body instead of hips facing leading player. This often results in a shallow and high trajectory kick that is almost always advantageous to defenders. It's really really bad and nobody talks about it.

How about we trade him then Jimmy? We can't have someone who continuously "kills us". I'm sure we could con another team into taking such a defective player.

The most frustrating thing about this is he has shown in the past that when he chooses to he is an excellent kick of low trajectory passes to leading players. Hope springs eternal.

If Yze is successful, what is everyone’s thoughts on Stuart Dew replacing him as the midfield line coach?

Don't know why no one responded. He was incredibly highly regarded at the Swans. Back when I was coaching juniors I attended a coaches session put on by the Swans and the stuff he did was transformative. They credited him with developing a whole philosophy they had adopted and then he developed training exercises to execute it. It was very simple, clear and easy enough to teach to juniors.

I will say though that I love the idea of Ratten as midfield coach although he seems to have made it clear he is stepping away from footy for a while. I thought the best our midfield ever operated was when he was the midfield coach, even though that was quite a few years ago now.

I get that you’ve got to grasp opportunities when they present but I reckon Ooze would be smarter to bide his time a bit longer and opt out of the Richmond job. Their prospects over the next 3-5 years are the least enticing of all sides outside the current top eight imo, but they’re yet to fully face that reality. Like Ross Lyon when he ditched the Saints after their golden run in the 2000’s and Clarko when he left the Hawks, Richmond have overplayed their hand and have a list set to nosedive. The next Tigers coach will come under a heap of pressure with 24 months and will likely just ‘fill the seat’ until they hit full on bottom out phase.

Keep your powder dry Ooze. Something better will come along.

Senior AFL coaching opportunities are very rare. He has applied and if he gets offered the job will rightly go to the tigers who are well managed, resourced and back their staff in. The current list isn't great but that's about making sure expectations are aligned

Yze has been great for us and last year I was fearful of him leaving. This year I feel we almost need the change...and thats not putting any blame on him either. It just feels like we cant just go around again after 2 years of straight set exits. Fresh voices and ideas needed.

Hope he gets it.

For both our sake and his.

We're at a point where we need an injection of new coaches with ideas that will challenge Goody's and breathe some new life and motivation into the group.

If we hit next year like we have the last two, we may as well give it away.

It's clear that our 'system' will only take us so far. Our 21' finals run was pure momentum but that entire home and away season was full of the same issues that we still see in this side today.

If Adam gets the Tigers gig i would replace him with Trent Cotchin and Daisy Pearce make them responsible for Midfield and onballers  get Stewart Dew as Forward Coach make  Mark Stinnear our Assistant coach i am very impressed with him he has an amazing ability to read the game unlike Goodwin he listens to others .

Finally lure Phil Davis for backline all of these replace all other Coaches except Williams

think mick is pretty happy as a senior coach of a premiership winning, currently undefeated aflw side

Agreed, Mick has a long commitment to our AFLW team, from day one.  He lives in the country but loves our AFLW team so much that he regularly commutes 2 or so hours each way.  Since our whole AFLW has remained intact, I doubt he'd suddenly go to our AFLM team (even though his expertise would be very welcome).

I get why people are saying this but it would be a disservice to our women!

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
