Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

His answers are going to [censored] some people off but I thought he spoke well.

He’s a very polished media performer without giving the usual cliches.
I don’t have a problem with his answer either.

Not surprised by the stat, but equally, it  doesn't mean we're not a decent team either. As Trac said we finished tip 4 last year and are currently 4th. The competition is very even

We are 43/16/1 since the start of 2021, with a premiership to show for it. I'm very proud of my club. Everyone, outside of some of our own supporters respect us. Right now is the best time to be a demon. I hope some on here don't miss what is currently happening.

The last 25 games are irrelevant now.  I’s the next 15 that count!

It's good for track to hear we are 13 and 12 in the last 25. I liked his answers and think we will finish top 4 this year. But I don't consider us a top 4 team last year. We only made the second round of the finals - that's top 6.

Exactly.

We sure didn’t play like a top 4 team in last years finals.

While it isn't super pretty, I'd add a couple of comments:

1. Despite only 13 wins putting us in 8th place during that time, we have the second highest percentage in the comp, indicating potential under performance.

2. If we win clinch only two close games that we've lost, we jump to 3rd on the ladder. Freo by 7, PA by 4, Collingwood by 7, Dogs by 10, Sydney by 12 were all close games. Technically Brisbane by 11 as well. That's 6 games lost under 2 goals. (Conversely we've only won 2 close ones: GC by 5, Carlton by 5.  With only another couple under 20 points)

3. Last year we all think we went to hard early and fell in a heap late. This year, we hope they have learnt from that, and are going through the motions now so that they are primed for finals. That means this ladder reflects the worst of last season and hopefully the worst of this season! If we won 10 straight to start this year we should have been asking "what have we learnt, are we going to fall over again?"

At 13-12, we’re a middle of the ring team. An accurate reflection I’m afraid. Not worthy of top 4 based on that effort.

Taking numbers over 2 seasons to suit a narrative is complete rubbish.  We are 7 and 4, nothing else matters.

Point 2 is a really good point. I did not realise that.

With point 3 I may not be in the majority but I don't think we "went too hard too early", I just think we had an easy draw. I don't buy the idea that winning games at the start of the year makes it harder to win games at the end.

I'm usually at the more optimistic end of the spectrum so it feels weird to be coming in more negative than many of the above posters. But the facts are the facts folks. We are 13 and 12 over the last 25 and have rarely looked like a contender during that time.

If we include the last two matches of 2020 we were 32-1-4 up to round 10 last year. An extraordinary record.

The fact is those are two very different sets of numbers. I think we can win the flag this year. But we aren't playing anywhere near well enough at the moment and haven't for a very long time. Fortunately, it doesn't really matter how we're playing at the moment and there's still ample time for improvement. But make no mistake, significant improvement is required.

We have definitely changed the way we play in one of the  defensive transition aspects of our game. We have sagged off on our half field press.

We longer have a defensive wall outside 50 for those dump kicks. This is mainly because teams are being coached to either handball out or hit up players with 15-20 m chip kicks exiting when our F50 lacks tackle pressure.

Having said that Freo on the weekend did dump kick on 4-5 occassions and landed directly into Freo hands then they were off. This is a direct result of our hard press being released and why you see us out numbered in the middle third of the ground..

Oppo teams have definitely worked us out hitting shorter targets with their kicks especially in board where we have no strong zone coverage in the center square what so ever.

Whilst we had our chances to win both games against Powa and Freo our weakness in our mid zone compressing coverage this year and last has allow team to be more brave against us and kick through once a strength now a major weakness.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
