Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Farewell James Harmes

As I clicked on it @dazzledavey36 I thought ‘Ahhh a mutual beneficial parting’.

Got to get a steady gig somewhere and Melbourne are not it.

Great story as I am sure we all know… Boyhood supporter and was a fundamental part of turning the GF our way.
❤️💙

If Harmes leaving allows us to keep JJ I'm fine with that.

Also have to remember we will have some decent players coming in the draft this year and have players like Howes, Woewodin and Laurie developing nicely in the 2s.

Have always loved Harmesy, but may be a win-win for both the club and Harmesy.

Given that Dunstan is our only genuine midfielder at Casey, losing Harmes would have a significant impact on our midfield depth.

I'm yet to be convinced that Laurie is going to be a long term AFL player, and neither Howes or Woewodin is beating down the door, but none of these are onballers anyway.

We need to be heavily investing in the midfield in this year's draft.

Would appear to be one of the more replaceable players on the list given his age and declining form by the year, since his career best year of 2018 where he was near BOG in the important round 23 and elimination final wins over GWS and Geelong respectively.

His best position was clearly as a starting midfielder that would do a job on the oppo's best mid while doing damage offensively. Goodwin clearly can't (structural) or won't (not good enough anymore) put him back into the middle as a full time mid.

Be interesting if he's the replacement for Sparrow this week. if he isn't he'll be clearly asking some questions.

Welp, that’d no doubt please quite a few people on here. If he does leave us, at least he’ll likely be respected by the fans of his new club. Can’t imagine it’d be any worse than what he cops from some of our “fans.”

Of course like every other genuine fan of his I would love to see him getting games and being used to his full potential, and if that means changing clubs, so be it. That said, if he goes to Essendon he’s dead to me. 😁

I’m not sure we ever got clarification for the ‘personal reasons’ that kept him out of the team earlier in the year.

I thought it may be that keeping him out of the team recently…

‘Could’ based on reports he had a look around last year.

The way I see it is we won’t keep both JJ and Harmes. But I’d also be surprised if both go unless we line up a replacement.

Harmes is contracted but depending on loading we’d possibly even have to eat a bit of it, JJ isn’t and is a free agent.

Laurie and Woey are definitely mids, not sure if they are long term AFL players yet.

I’d imagine it would be Rivers, Brayshaw, Pickett, ANB in to the midfield with youth in to the flanks before playing those young guys as pure on ballers even next year.

I’d be expecting all 3 of those guys to push hard for selection next year though.

The personal issue that’s affected him of late doesn’t have anything to do with whether or not he’s getting a game. Would be the same no matter the club.

Your Essendon hatred seems almost as much as mine towards the hawks. Mine dates back to the infamous 50 m penalty amongst other things. What gives with yours?

I think Harmesy is genuinely well liked by most. He's a talented mid and I hope he stays. But at his age and recent relegation,  nobody would blame him for looking for greener pastures.

Here's hoping he comes in for Sparrow and kills it.

Oh Deeves, it’s not something I can explain in less than 100,000 words. Nor could I explain it without dredging up memories best left to fester below the surface forevermore. One day I might tell all to a shrink, but that’d be pointless for there is no cure, not even respite. I can’t even imagine what Harmesy would look like in an 🤮 Essendon 🤮jumper, nor would I want to. 😥

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
