Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I’m no fan of Morris or most of the industry.

But the story was a player not named in a team leaking on Tuesday, one day before the team was named.

Surely a storm in a tea cup compared with serious allegations like the Goodwin stuff.

That's one of a number of issues with several dating back last year. Bev is fed up with him and rightly so.

Even if Tom Morris killed his cat, is that really how an AFL coach behaves? It was unprofessional. It was rude. It was total deflection and it was embarrassing for the Dogs and the AFL.
Take it off line.

Bevo mentioned that Morris had previously reported Gardner being dropped for the grand final.

I'm sure there might be more, but if the biggest 2 things you're willing to name publicly have been selection stories, both of which were correct then that's not nearly close to good reason to blow your stack.

Ok Just read four pages, but I have a different take, Tom Morris is a snake and a sniper, he never just reports, he edits a fair bit as well, and has a real malicious streak. While the subject of the question was fair, the content and tone of his question was set to maximum needle. Bevo went too far, but only a bit in my book and nothing more than an apology is required. I hope his club backs him.

Personally much rather a beer with Bevo than Tom, love the bloke.

Probably needs to take a month off.  He's not doing himself (or his team) any favours right now

Not an excuse but some losing coaches are often still immersed in game-day-mode and in no position to talk in a rational manner at the pressers (which are held not long after the final siren)

He might want to try the Bill Belichick approach (mumble away until the journo's are bored witless)

But that behavior tonight was inexcusable

Yep. We're on to Cincinnatti

Prepare for what some in the media will label his "Grovelling apology" in the next day or 2.

Nothing surer.

Then he should have articulated those issues rather than tee off on a single selection issue which Morris reported correctly. Instead he's made himself look like a goose. A rather unstable goose at that.

There can be no doubt that the spray at Morris was pre planned but he stuffed it up and it reflects poorly on his club

FWIW I've always liked Bevo since he used to sport the #24 for our great club. And I can't stand Morris, simpering twit that he is. Nothing about him seems appealing and I wish he barracked for someone else. But tonight it's Morris 1, Bevo minus about 100

Maybe realise his defensive players are ordinary and forward line is 1 player.

Yes, I think you are right. Beavo is starting to realise that the MFC will be his beate noir for the rest of his coaching career. I'm sure it is a realisation that he cant abide and like all good "Trumpists", the tactic is always to create a distraction, and i can see this one (or a variation thereof) being the standard issue when when we continue to defeat them in the future. It will be fun to watch.......

Fair play to Tom Morris for doing his job and then giving it right back. Takes guts to stand up to a guy who was trying to bully and belittle him like that.

I agree, but it is a manor from heaven for an ambitious investigative journalist, albeit a sporting one. Journos who break news are those who sell papers, and this makes morris a lot more famous than he was yesterday. It also demonstrates why Breaveridge clearly does not understand the Press. For Morris it is just like getting a giant promotion.

Good on him for doing his job......

Bevvo should instead have planted a story and see if it got reported ie Teddy might do a lap of honour.

It is impossible to imagine the loss didn't play a role.

As a competitive beast, he would have been stung by the almighty hammering his team received in the grand final.

And stung by the questions about his tactical response to the 3rd quarter onslaught.

They have all preseason to prepare for a rematch against the team he must think is their key rival for the flag this year. One assumes he thinks they are real contenders.

We have all but three of our premiership back 7 out, including Lever, and lose Salem in the first quarter.

His players come out and are once again shell shocked and absolutely hopeless (they were lucky we didn't kick 10 goals).

He can hear the press wondering if Bevo has lost his ability to get his team ready for big games.

They go crazy and get out to a 4 goal lead. And like a bad dream the gf repeats itself and we hammer them, putting the whip away in the last to cruise to another easy victory against them.

And to top it off we hadn't bothered tagging Macrae, as we did to such great effect in the GF (compare the stats).

Sure he'll keep the front going that they are a realistic flag chance (and of course they are some sort of chance). But he knows we are the real deal and absolutely have their measure.

And goody has his measure.

All that roiling away and he had to front a presser. And sees Morris. Can barely contain himself.

And it all explodes when Morris asks his question. About selection of all things.

Classic projection.

Yes, but reporting on Hunter does generate news, hence why it was a story to begin with.

Kade Chandler not getting a gig for the Dees for instance isn’t news. Hunter was reported as ‘dropped’ and became a topic of debate. Not helped by Bevo bristling at it in his pre match.

Bevo’s certainly blown this up himself when they should’ve just copped that his team was named 1 day early. But I can see the link between creating  news stories to fill a void, the scrutiny that brings and player welfare.

Not sure a reporter doesn't report on team news based on their perception of said players mental health though.

Sure, if it was a personal story on Hunter or something with gossip and innuendo, but as far as I can tell Morris reported a footballer was not picked in the round 1 side. Pretty relevant news for a football journo I would think. I would think team news does not fit in the 'fill a void' category, in fact it's really more of what footy journos are meant to be doing.

Watched it live and couldn’t believe it at the time. He lost the plot and didn’t seem right before he had a go a Morris.
My biggest take from it was how [censored] weak it was to bring mental health into it for a jurno just reporting team news.

The only other interview I have seen live that I can compare it to was Rafa Benitez “facts” rant in 2009. I can also remember their skipper Steve Gerard commenting on his managers rant years later- how cringed watching it and was embarrassed for him and the club at the time.
I wonder how the Bont and rest of the players will feel about how their coach when they watch it today?!

One thing for sure I’ll be extra confident the next time we play them don’t think he’s rant will help them at all.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
