Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I would rather finish 4th and play Dogs at Marvel. That ground holds no fear.

Finish 3rd and get an away final against the Cats but at Marvel for the larger capacity.

Hey wouldn’t it be just like Melbourne to have to play cats in geelong first week of finals then go to Perth a play west coast the week later ?

How is that even possible? The teams in the top 4 that lose in the first week of the finals get a home final the following week.

If your logic is that they'll move the semi finals to Perth regardless, they'll do it for the entire finals series, and we won't be going to Geelong.

You been following Melbourne for long? We find a way (sometimes the AFL facilitate it) to make the impossible possible!

Be afraid, be VERY afraid!!!

zero chance of that happening. not even sure why the question was posed. only chance of geelong ever playing a final at geelong is against interstate opponent. marvel also won't be entertained. so long as theres finals in melbourne all finals will be at the mcg.

The pressure will come if there is a cap at the MCG that is less than GMHBA's capacity.

Geelong kicked up a big fuss last week for their Richmond game - laying the foundations IMO.

Best thing we can do is take the option off the table by going 3-0.

There's no way that geelong host a final this year.

After no finals at the mcg last year, 5th and 6th hosting games likely interstate.

The need for finals at the mcg contractually will surely see both victorian finals played at the mcg.

Hell, geelong couldn't even get their game vs richmond the other week moved to geelong because of signage contracts, let alone a final.

(Got to get there first, but...)

If there is a % crowd limit for the 'G then (unless there is a Ring Of Steel the 'G is inside and KP is outside) the same % limit would apply to KP. So KP wouldn't/couldn't 'outcapacity' the 'G.

Before the last lockdown the crowd limit was something like 50% but capped at the MCG at 25,000.

If a similar cap is used for finals and the MCG's max crowd isn't much more than whatever GMHBA can hold, that's where the pressure will hit.

Geelong will ask for it and the usual defence of "too many fans will be locked out" won't be as strong as normal.

I was thinking if capacity was about separation (rather than just 'traceability'(?) as it stupidly seems to be atm, with everyone bunched together in one area of the ground) then a 25% limit, say, at the 'G should mean a 25% limit at KP.

Wouldn't mind playing the Dogs at Marvel if we finish 3rd or 4th and play them. We play a beautiful brand of footy at Marvel and all our games this year have been over by 3 qtr time at the latest.

Our record under Goodwin at Marvel is 10-3 or thereabouts.

Having said all that I'm pretty sure we'll be playing Geelong if we hang onto 3rd or 4th.

Nothing surer than us getting shafted. Lock it in Eddie.

I reckon this is where Pert has earnt his money so far.

Whenever the AFL has tried to bully us into these types of situations. Now we are independent of their funding. He sticks fat and pushes back!

For the second week in a row, the Demons had to endure some particularly oppressive match conditions — this time, playing in 30 degree temperatures at the MCG, following the humid sticky Sydney atmosphere of last week.   The warmer conditions didn’t seem to worry the Dee’s since the ball was so much easier to handle, and handle it with surety they did in handing out a 45 point drubbing to the much fancied Western Bulldogs.   After a slow start that saw the Dogs out to

CROSSING THE PICKETT LINE by The Oracle

Melbourne’s performance in losing its Round Zero contest in Sydney has certainly caused the club, the coach and the players to come firmly under the watchful eye of the football world and exposed all of its aspects to a microscopic lens.   Much of the commentary surrounding them has been less than complimentary and, while some might argue that this is unfair after only one round, leaving aside some of the scuttlebutt that surrounds a lot of the discussion around the game, a fair amoun
