Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Treloar's kicking is a bit like the trajectory of a North Korean rocket, sporadically launched without the guidance system. Made a similar observation at the last Queens Birthday Big Freeze match and a Carringbushie totally supported that view. (Demographic of the  modern Collingwood supporter is no longer that stereotypical beer swilling, toothless yob, yelling obscenities). Would much prefer Stephenson, Thomas or Crisp as prospective trade targets

I get the feeling the Pies see a chance of pick 5 and a young key forward in the draft and the Suns see the chance of getting a gun mid when they've had a heap of picks as is.

His biggest flaw is rushed disposal. His second biggest flaw is availability. But the deal makes too much sense for both clubs not to look at.

As much as we need an injection of inside pace I don't think he's what we need or worth the risk.

We would  have to have Woods pay proportion of Adams salary and /or Tomac could be used In trade, if Pies are keen.

I think he is an outside mid which we need big time but he does butcher the ball nearly as bad as the worst Melb disposer Such as Tommy  used to be in defence.

Feel for the guy.  Very loyal.  Reportedly helped the club with sal cap in recent years by agreeing to re-time his contract to the back end and now that they have to pay up they want him out.

The kid has/had self declared mental health issues.  Very callous of Coll if they don't consider that.  If he has to go fine but it behoves them to ensure the way they handle the exit they don't do more damage.

Kane Cornes thinks he is a good fit for us. Which probably suggests he is not a good fit for us.

He is far too expensive to come to Melbourne and compete with 4 other serious quality inside mids.

Not happening.

With his being lured from GWS, his wife playing Netball in Queensland and his mental health issues, this is a big call actively pushing him out the door. Not sure his team mates will like the optics, nor some Player Managers who will be wary of the Pies promises to their players.
This type of action can be a culture killer.

Feel for him given he renegotiated his contract to be back ended when the pies were having cap issues. Now that his pay day has come they are shipping him off. Really poor form by the lies I mean pies...

The AFL as a whole, and the individual clubs, need to be really careful here.

The AFL forcing players to take pay cuts in years in which they had loaded their contracts, as was the case with Jeremy Cameron and Jack Martin this year. Clubs asking players to back load contracts and then turfing them out before they have to pay up, as seems to be the case with Adam Treloar.

I can't imagine the players and the AFLPA would be very happy with this situation, and players will soon get a feel for which clubs don't follow through on their promises.

Will it effect their 'destination club' status 'Red'???

If I were a player I would have 2nd thoughts.

Disposal quality and injury are the biggest red flags.  There is a reason why Collingwood are putting him on the front lawn.

They signed him up to a 4-year extension in July last year, at a time when he was already contracted through to the end of 2021.

Neither the hamstrings nor the poor kicking are new developments, both were well-known in July 2019.

Whether it's bad salary cap management (no excuse for that either, it's not like in July 2019 they didn't know that Moore, De Goey, Mihocek, Cox etc. were all out of contract this year) or something else, this is a remarkable situation for the Pies to be in.

As I've said before, I highly rate Treloar, his dodgy kicking notwithstanding. He'll find a home if he ultimately has to leave, even with the money he's owed under his current contract.

Hard to recruit someone like Treloar to fit in Melb's midfield when we have Oliver and Viney but I wouldn't dismiss him outright. Has averaged 30 + disposals a game in years gone by. Hunts the ball like a madman and we need AFL quality players. Could he play wing or forward? Could we reshuffle our midfield? He is capable of playing outside. He has decision making/disposal issues and bad hammies but still is a gun player.

I wouldn't be paying through the roof for someone if we didn't want them play in their natural position (ie mid).

He would compliment our midfield nicely in my opinion but the cons of his contract terms and trade value lead me to want to pursue lesser targets.

I think this is where most clubs would sit TBH. Carlton would be the no brainer option to my thinking. They need mids that can win the footy outside of Cripps. They may have spent their pennies on Saad and Williams though. I'd take Treloar every day of the week before either of those, particularly Williams.

He'll certainly find a home. He's a gun IMO and an A grader.

We need a guy with his kind of pace in the middle but ideally with better kicking. Although that combination is hard to find.

Even at a big discount I don't see him as a likely target.

Someone might grab a bargain from the Pies tho.

Yep, understand this. But you could argue he is a better extractor and far more damaging than Viney. Could Viney play elsewhere? Or with his pace and creativity could Treloar play wing?

To quote the great Waylon Smithers, 'you don't have to tell me, sir'. Viney should be playing majority forward, with midfield bursts and being involved in forwardline stoppages.

If we want to offer Oliver and Petracca extensions, I can't see how we fit Treloar's likely wages in.

This is a really terrible by Collingwood and it will affect them in the future.

They chased him from GWS, asked him to re-extend his contract to help the club out, and now they're trying to move him on. Why would a player from another club choose to go to Collingwood if they can't trust the club to honour their commitment to them? Why would a current player help out the club with a contract when the club won't honour the term of that commitment?

It stinks and the AFL industry isn't that big. This has the ability to turn really, really ugly.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
