  1. Pretty good turn out for a cold thursday night, 43k - well done Dees fans. Similar observations to most around the game - we looked tired and listless for most of the night. No burst, smashed in the clearance and put our defence under enormous pressure. Clayton looks a million miles off the pace at the moment, definitely feeling the impact of his interrupted pre-season. Forward line needs to gel. Missed the X factor of Kozzie...similar to the Sydney game in that regard. Some positives to take - Windsor, this kid has got some serious courage. While everyone seemed to be treading water he was the only one to tuck the ball under the arm and go. Yes he made some errors but he's not alone. That dash through the guts and the kick he pulled at the last minute to set up Kolt was a glimpse into the future. He's 18 everyone...let that sink in. 18! Can't wait to watch his career unfold. Kolt a bit overawed but can't question his intensity, albeit in short bursts. Welcome time for the bye, chin up everyone we're well positioned.
  2. I must say I am not a fan of the gigantic yellow hertz logo on the back. at least jaguar was not intrusive and didn't take away from our colours. But money is money eh?
  3. Genuinely shocked by the continued downward trending of Ed Langdon. Do we all remember that long haired gut running beast that was so crucial in 2021? He would run up and down that wing, all the way to pockets and provide defensive cover and crucial link up play...where is that guy? In my opinion it isn't talked about enough, he's a shell of himself. It's so bad that I'm to the point of I'm wondering if it's even time to move on from him in favour of a Woewodin type. FWIW this isn't based on yesterday's performance, as uninspiring as it was. This has been building for the best part of a season and a half.
  4. Heard on an SEN podcast that we're planning something big. Can't wait for trade period!
  5. Meh, another draft pick to add to our war chest. JJ had some games where I thought wow he's playing well today, and others where I had to double check if he was selected. Not the type of player we'd over value and be desperate to keep, right call by both parties.
  6. We've just lost our senior head of strategy on game day & midfield coach. A big blow given we've hardly set foot outside the top 4 in three seasons. Who are the leading contenders to fill this void? Ideas floated have been a more offensively minded thinker, the likes of Don Pyke or Blake Caracella. Alternatively, do we stick with what we know and go for a more defensively minded thinker? Do we look at someone tried and tested, or give the opportunity for a recent retiree to cut their teeth? Yze's are big shoes to fill and the decision will surely shape our fortunes for the next period of time. Whoever steps in will have a A grade midfield to work with, it will be a highly sought after role in my opinion. Thoughts?
  7. Was in beast mode last night. Completely murdered Curnow. Hold your head high Maysie, you deserved better.
  8. Incredibly flat. Being at the game stung. The fact that we lost this largely due to missing shots is incredibly hard to stomach. Gawn's miss in the third quarter was the one that really hurt - chance to go 3 goals up with a shot from 30m out on a slight angle. I said at the time that could come back to bite us. And here we are. Some positives from the season: JVR, McVee, Rivers, Petracca, Viney, Sparrow, May All enormously valuable seasons. 2024 needs: Find a key forward. Go back to the drawing board. It's as glaring a positional weakness as any team in the AFL... Jason Taylor, over to you. Find a skillful high IQ mid to finish off the work of Petracca, Clayton, Viney. A Josh Kelly, Wayne Milera type. Get some fresh coaching eyes on this team. Someone offensively minded like Don Pyke would be perfect.
  9. It's the principle of the matter. Why should the likes of Collingwood never have to travel to the hardest place in football to win, when we seem to have to every season? You think Manchester United want to travel to Luton Town? Of course they don't but they don't have a choice.
  10. The inequality of this drives me mad. Has to be one of the only professional leagues that shafts certain teams and gives a free ride to others with scheduling. Not cool AFL
  11. All fair. You do you. I'll go watch a game on one of Saturn's moons if the Melbourne footy club is playing. If you're looking for history, atmosphere, acoustics. It's the MCG or bust from the sound of it 👍
  12. There's been plenty of high scoring matches there this year. Sat night will be a scrap fest. Lyon v Goodwin god help us 😂
  13. Thanks for the explanation @DubDee. You are most definitely within your rights to watch and attend how you want, but not sure if you have a leg to stand on complaining about the atmosphere if you're part of the supporter base that doesn't want to show up. A full Marvel stadium is a great atmosphere, see Carlton v Sydney last year. Irrespective of supporter base volume, pies fans burning desire to go and cheer for their team and will them over the line seems more unconditional than ours (we are not alone).
  14. Yeah agreed parking is expensive compared to the MCG. If you able to use public transport it's quite convenient. What do you mean lifeless and lacking a soul, can you elaborate on that? If the stadium was packed full of dees fans getting around the team wouldn't that alleviate the concern?
  15. That's fair. I guess I just don't see a massive issue with Marvel. Easily accessible, protected from the rain, view point and visibility arguably better than the MCG. If one of the issues is cost of food and beverages, welcome to every professional stadium in Australia. If another issue is atmosphere, well that's ironic.
  16. This isn't supposed to be a personal attack however If we expect the players to show up week in week out with effort the least supporters can do is tough it out and attend a slightly inconvenient stadium. This is what makes pies the envy of the comp. I know ppl have lives and families, financial hardship etc (all fair and reasonable), but if the reason to not attend is cause we don't like a stadium... It's a bit soft imo
  17. Sent for more scans 🥹 this is so frustrating!
  18. Shoutout to the supporters at the game yesterday, we went toe to toe with the pies on the noise levels... Made a huge difference imo. Special mention to Tommo and Joel Smith, both played their role superbly. Salem... Seriously missed this guy. A complete match winner. McVee, fast becoming one of my favorite players. Never looks flustered, even in front of 83k roaring fans. Balanced, poised, skillful. So happy with him.
  19. Mids and key forwards next draft. Any word from Casey watchers how Jefferson is tracking?
  20. We've been very fortunate with other top four contenders dropping games in Brisbane, Geelong, and Dogs. Let's go into the Collingwood game with a head of steam... my proposed tweaks against Carlton. With Salem now back, give Bowey some run up the ground, he can hit the scoreboard and is an elite decision maker and kick. We need some class in the middle desperately and he's a competitor. Bring in Tomlinson as the third tall to give Lever a licence to roam. Our flag year this was the best setup... Let's give it another go. Drop TMac for BBB. People are quick to forget BBB was in great form the first couple of rounds of the season, let's give him another go... Unfortunately I think McDonald is cooked.
  21. The club won't have released anything to the journos who are speculating there's damage to the hammy. We wait with baited breath for something official from the club
  22. Why the f did he get the green light to go back out there in Q4? Own goal by us if it's significant
  23. It's rare that you see an ACL injury occur in these types of scenarios, they're normally non contact. Got everything crossed for the big fella, we looked so much worse for it without him
  24. Phillipou reminds me a bit of Bontempelli in his draft year.
