Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Jones is a very proud man, he is rested, super fit and obviously in form, big game coming up

Huh? Scratch matches “in form”?

Glad he’s in and I hope people give him some time to get up to speed, I’m not expecting a huge game but his ability to hit the scoreboard (as others have mentioned players aren’t A graders without it) is a good in for us.

They didn't have any scratch match last week at all.

I think the last time he played was a fortnight ago against the swans

Agree on both counts.

In someways he is the closest thing to a like for like for VDB in so far as he is sort an old fashioned utility now. By that i mean he can start on the bench and come on to do a short  burst on ball (perhaps around the ground more than center bounces) play of HB as required and even push forward.

What Jones doesn't replace however id VDB's tackling and intensity at the ball carrier. It simply cannot be underestimated how important that is for us (well you think it would be - some still mange it).

The importance of that intensity for us explains why even with his woeful kicking and relatively low numbers he is a lock in Goody's best 22.

Others will have to fil that void and Jones will really help our disposal efficiency as a player that struggles to go at 50% DE is being replaced by one that should be around 75% DE. In a tight game that might make  a big difference.

I hope Jones doesn't just bomb it long to a contest as he has a tendency to do. If he is he the forward line at any stage he could snag a goal though.

If its gonna be wet the long bomb could let Kossie Or Harley in for a GOALFEAST Crumbfest!

Would love to see that but I think the game has passed him

Including finals yes.

Surprised to not see T.Mac out there I thought they would have went for his experience, but great to see their trust in the young kid Jackson. Great to see Jonesey back in the side hope he makes it to 300.

Jonesy in for Vanders sits very comfortably with me, especially given the expected wet track.

Maybe a wet track but I live up here and you can't rely on the forecast. At this stage only 1-5mm expected with sunny breaks. I suspect it will be fine by start.

With Jones, I agree he has sore shoulders over the years, carrying most but i want to see him run back hard when they have ball instead of jogging through middle.

Backing Tom to return to best 22 form and selection sometime very soon.

Probably do Tommy some good to get down into a scratch match and just clunk a few. i get the impression he's felt the pressure to be the spearhead and now he can kinda see he's not even a lock for the best 22 i feel like a return to his best form won't be too far away.

I'm genuinely surprised that TMac will miss. Not because he's necessarily the right option but because it would have been the easier decision.

I guess the condensed run of games makes selection a little more fluid. Form will be important but with four day breaks all over the place we'll be likely to see some interesting sides picked over the next few weeks.

I think he was heading in the right direction. I would have been happy with either of TMac/Jacko, but I'm very happy we have gone with just the two talls.

Good that Jones is back. But I fear he will be caught holding the ball. He likes to force the stoppage by holding it in and under, and he doesn't try to dispose of it. The rule has a new interpretation and if he doesn't adapt, he'll give away 2 or 3 free kicks.

So we pay big Money for Tomlinson to play as a wingman, and within a few games they realise his not a wingman, where does he play then?

How do you know 'they' realise he is not a wingman...

Well he was dropped, can't back in, do you think he is a wingman? I don't he is a half back flanker or half forward flanker, he is a bad set shot goal kicker though.

Yes, I do think he is a wingman, that is why he was recruited.

He clearly has a range of attributes that the FD felt would compliment that role.

Like all players that are dropped, they're dropped to work on specific things. Is Weideman a forward now (but two weeks ago he wasn't?) What about Jetta? or OMAC? Did you question whether the FD got it right recruiting them, when they were out of the side?

I disagree there is enough evidence that he is a bad set shot kicker. He almost won us the game against Geelong. It's not as though he is missing them 30m out directly in front.

He provides outlets and is a different style of wingman to Langdon - he is there to perform a range of functions. AND to say he can't get back in after the side has won a couple of matches.. .ergo this means the FD have got the recruitment wrong, just seems to be such a nonsensical statement.

There will be a range of factors, perhaps look at bit deeper at the side we are playing against... perhaps the FD have looked at his role compared to who he would likely be up against this week and decided it's a week by week proposition.

Perhaps the FD also wanted a settled side... heaven knows if we lost to Hawthorn, Brayshaw may have been in the gun and Tomlinson back in.

Essentially, and more succinctly - the fact that he is not back in this week does not mean he is not a wingman, or has no place ongoing in the side.

The biggest difference between Tomlinson and those other players is that they have already shown they are defenders or forwards, Tomlinson has already played a lot of games, and that is what GWS played him as, a half back flanker to half forward flanker, GUS is way ahead of him as a player.

Why? Robinson’s an overrated plodder

Ill never forget the comments he made when playing for Carlton years back, that he enjoyed playing Melbourne because he thought we were soft

I think Robinson has the potential to do damage if sides don't pay him respect and he gets off the chain a bit, but he's not a powerhouse, never was.

Would love to see Jack, Trac and Harmesy tear him a new one this week.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
