Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That loss means it's the season over for the Swans. Same for North if they lose to Richmond.

Freo v WC is a bit of a cut throat final as well.

Wouldn't do our slim chances any harm if Adelaide could knock off St Kilda

I have a cunning plan.... sack all the commentators and hire mrandrewcotter. If he can make his dogs, Olive and Mabel, eating their breakfast sound exciting, he can do miracles with any boring game. Plus I love his accent.

You'd think this would have occurred to the TV stations by now.

Because they could say to the commentators, "turns out only 50% of viewers listen to the commentary, so you're not as important as we thought, so you, you're taking a pay cut, and you, you're fired."

And they could pay some teenager minimum wage to push the button on a crowd sound effect mp3 they downloaded for free. "Audio department? Boss here. You're all fired."

Sometimes BT & Bruce sound like teenagers MR

It's lovely to watch the fall of the Hawks and Swans.

I just looked up Grand final results and at least one of those teams featured in 5 straight Grand Finals between 2012-2016, including playing each other in 2012.

Whorethorn are not done yet.
We must finish them off tomorrow

Roos v tigs,  horrible game to watch any part of it.  North game plan doesn't work, worse than ours.  Bet they're happy they went with a rookie coach.  As it wasn't like Tigers were on fire with their game either which makes it worth.

Tigers are missing a few players as well, North should surely be under the spotlight this week.

More I look at the ladder the more I think this week could make/break our year. I know we have a game in hand vs Essendon but there’s still the psychological aspect of being planted down the bottom which hurts.

Agree. Tomorrow is the game

I am confident of a win

Meanwhile, anyone else getting a bit of an Akermanis-ish vibe about Rankine?  He's got the game, the body shape, the dumb hair, and the wet trouser commentators!

Yup, and the arrogance too. His front on spoil to Luke Parker's face and flop to the push in response, sealed the deal for my distaste. At one point when he was run down in a tackle, the commentator said something to the effect of the whole footy world not wanting him to be tackled there, and to have a shot on goal, P*** off. I have a feeling I'm going to be cursing under my breath for a decade while he walks up to podiums and accepts medals.

They will smash us next week. Need to win tomorrow!

I would put money on Geelong, Collingwood and Richmond to beat them if the finals were next week.

I have not been listening to commentary and generally don't, but if they're doing that, they've lost sight of what their job is. Barracking for teams, barracking for players, barracking for certain outcomes .... call the play and let the audience do the barracking!

Roaming F-wit and his ilk clearly think they are the entertainment, and have to step in when the game isn't up to their (or their producers) expectations.

This can be traced back to Rex Hunt, who when he started, was certainly something different and entertaining. As the years went by, he got lazy and indulgent and relied on a few circus tricks for the simple-minded. By the end, he and his gang had lost it completely (while thinking the whole time they were King Richard) ... listening to them on the radio, you had absolutely no idea what was going on on the ground ... not even the score. They were the show and the game was just the stage for them to perform on.

Around the same time, along comes Mr Everywhere, with his impeccable instinct for media (lately proved to be a bit shabby). I recall Garry Lyon once saying he was in the box with Eddie and Brereton, and the game had just been decided, and Eddie turned around and gave them a razz and let them know they had to keep the excitement level up. Lyon took this as a lesson in good commentary, but I take it as a lesson in fakery which has led us to a place where the TV stations think we need Roaming F-wit and his "gee wowee", and crowd noise piped in to keep our tiny minds doped and happy. Even Bruce has been dragged into the vortex and can't get out.

On another note, anything could happen with our friend Rankine. The game needs exciting players right now. But oppo coaches will be watching for weaknesses to exploit. It wouldn't surprise if he suffers some second year blues in his first year. Imagine what Petracca would do if he was left to his own devices by oppo coaches.

Todays Age has a preview of the game between Melbourne and Hawthorn. Melbournes coach and personnel are not mentioned once. It is just about Clarko.

Fun Fact. Essendon have four wins.  Three of them are against; Kangaroos (17th)  Swans (16th) and Freo (14th) and next week they play Adelaide (18th).

Meanwhile, Hawthorn, at 13th, is the lowest ranked team we've played against and next week we have Brisbane.

Our destinies are somewhat woven together because of the missed game, but it should be fun watching Essendon slide as the season goes ahead while we have a whole bunch of difficult teams we wont need to see again until finals.

Definitely looking forward the re-match, too.

We are taking about a comparison between a multi GF winning coach and a third rater. Hawthorn sell papers the Deed don't it's that simple. Damo.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
