Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Shades of the Mecano Man Ben Holland the way he moves and speed to execute his kicks. Not ideal for a wingman. I think we need to trial him down back if Oscar can't hold his spot. He was very good for GWS at chb a few years ago

Tomlinson quite stiff to miss but he hasn't been anywhere near where I think we expected him to be.

Could O'mac coming in possibly mean my prediction/desire to see Steven May in the forward line come true?

Agree with a lot of the changes, but reckon Rivers is far better than Lockhart and I would have liked to see Hunt used elsewhere. He has been good this year with the limited supply. Hardly think he has been part of the problem this season. Also, Melksham and AVB are very lucky to hold spots. Acid test this week for the FD and Goody

Nope, has been exactly as expected and why I was disappointed we chased him. Lacks urgency/intesity in contested situations, takes to long to move the ball when marking it and then does nothing with his kicks. The only time he did something noteworthy was the accidental pass to Hunt against Carlton. The amount of times he has made good position and then dropped marks against undersized opponents is infuriating.

I'd play Rivers ahead of AVB and Tomlison then

Will be focusing on AVB this week and could easily get exposed with GC pace

Not after last weeks game that’s for sure!

way to many times he could have attacked the ball instead he stopped. Great crash and bash moments were it could have resulted in the ball dropping to the ground but instead Richmond player marked it or hit it to advantage

favourites AVB and Melksham survive yet again, no surprise. that fwd line looks a bit slow to me. i would of liked another quick forward in the mix at Melkshams expense. instead it looks like we expect first year player Pickett to do the pressuring all on his own again. burnout the likely outcome for him.

Tommo out is a big call but I like it, he hasn't done a hell of a lot except do some absolutely bog ordinary turnovers. Rivers is maybe a little unlucky but I'm ok with him coming out for Jetta who I still feel has much to give this year.

In fact really I'm happy with all the changes. I think Oscar has deserved a recall and was actually hard done by to be dropped after playing quite well in the west. Bennell and Weid coming in had to happen, I think there would've been such a big outcry from the footy world that Goodwin wouldn't have anywhere to hide.

For me all of these Ins/Outs address the issues I've been talking about:
Hunt for Weid - Ineffective Mid forward for a tall (hopefully) marking forward
Tommo for Bennell - Poor disposal inside 50 for good decision making and good kicking
Smith for Oscar - Defensive structure which I think hasn't looked right since Smith came in
Rivers for Jetta - Perhaps the only one hard done by but we regain experience and usually a good kick/decision maker

I also think Rivers may be a victim of Pig returning to some form, hopefully Hibberd continues to play well.

One thing I want to see now is Sam get a clean run at it, baring him getting 1 possie and giving away a 50m penalty (basically a Spargo WC game) I think he should stay in to be given an opportunity to gel with the picked 22. I would also like to see him only take forward 50 rucking duties with TMac being the chop out ruck (and rest Gawn in the forward line for periods).

For me this is a lot more like what I think our best 22 should look like.

Both are very lucky. I had Hunt or Melksham being dropped and AVB being on notice. Both should be told their spot in the 22 is on the line this week.

Agree.  Melksham is apparently the forward line leader so he was always going to be given more time. AVB may be given the license to kill mad if he can regain his form of years ago can be a bold selection. Personally though I would have dropped him and brought in ANB. Overall I’m happy with changes

I have often thought that Hunt could be a good winger for us given his pace but he just doesn't seem to get enough of the ball. Even when he's put into spots where he really should get it.

I feel like Hunt is in a similar position to Spargo in that I actually don't know where he fits into the side.

It might be expected that these are not the starting team slots. There are big and small gaps in the skills for position - and form. However, it is also hoped that these personnel can be more effective - and this team listing is just a decoy for what will be utilised. The bench holds some potency and some of those on the field selections might well start the game or expend significant time during the game comfortably bum-warming as the match progresses.

Bit harsh on AVB guys.  Deserves a few games to find some touch after what he has endured. Adds some much needed physicality when on song. He will have more than a few oppo players looking over their shoulder.

I would have retained Tomlinson in the team ahead of VdB as he would give us more flexibility to cover ruck chop out.

As it is, it looks as if Wiedeman will cover Gawn for a while in the ruck each quarter. that being the case I want to see Gawn out of the goal square when not rucking.

In my view, the inclusion of OMac will allow Lever to play his natural game with a bit more freedom and confidence.

In a different idea, thoughts on Hannan being a winger? He's quick enough, got good hands, and usually good disposal. I just question his tank given the time off he has had.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
